rtang Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 I am planning to PRICELINE on LA downtown hotels 3 * or up. Just called Marriort, Bonaventure, etc and they all charge $30 or up for parking. Does anyone know any free or reduced overnight parking near those hotels /Figueroa St. , weekend or weekday, etc?If no such things, can someone suggest other PRICELINE zones nearby with free or reduced ( < $10 ) parking?I know you may find free street parking in Hollywood but the hotel prices in that zone is much higher than downtown.
ddetravel Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 I think parking at the 7th and Fig (Ernst & Young) parking structure was reasonable. I parked there (overnight) and stayed for two days and paid $15. I did get there before 9am on the 1st day, so I'm not sure if that made a difference. It's a safe place to park and it's pretty close to most of the PRICELINE hotels.
Colfax Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 There are garages near the Downtown hotels that charge less than the hotels do, but not less than $10. More like $10-20. If you walk far enough you can find free street parking Downtown, but it's not always in the best areas. AYOR.If you want 3*+ hotels with free parking you've pretty much got to head for the suburbs, and some of what you save on parking you'll spend on gas going back and forth to Downtown. If you're interested in closer in suburban hotels let us know and I'll suggest some zones.
rtang Posted June 11, 2010 Author Report Posted June 11, 2010 Yes, please advise what PRICELINE zones have parking < $10 per day with 3* or above. I called LAX 3* hotels and they charge from $12 or up. Besides, LAX I think is around 40 min away from downtown.Does LA downtown garages daily prices allow in and out?
Colfax Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 All known 3* and higher in Commerce-Norwalk-Rosemead zone have free parking. Monrovia-Duarte's another, but a little farther from Downtown. If you bid C-N-R it's possible some new or unreported hotel with pay parking could come up for the first time, though not likely. But is it worth driving 10-20 miles for free parking? If you drive from Commerce to Downtown every day where will you park while you're Downtown? You'll probably pay. If Downtown hotels cost $100 and Commerce cost $40 the drive could pay off. But people report winning Downtown 3.5* and 3* for $50-60 many nights. At those rates, even with pay parking, I don't see much potential savings from commuting. But if you'd like to try for a 3.5* or 3* in C-N-R or Monrovia-Duarte let us know and someone will offer a strategy. What are your travel dates?Does LA downtown garages daily prices allow in and out?The hotel parking has in and out privileges. The private and city garages typically do not.
rtang Posted June 11, 2010 Author Report Posted June 11, 2010 The CNR zone may work for me. I would like to in and out downtown, San Gabriel, Beach, S. Pasadena with Downtown the main travel hub. I am planning to stay in July or August but not confirmed date yet. Do you know what bidding histories, hotels, etc for this CNR zone? i could not find info on this zone from any threads here. When in downtown, I can just pay meter as my stay is usually short.
Colfax Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 I would like to in and out downtown, San Gabriel, Beach, S. Pasadena with Downtown the main travel hub.Since you're visiting San Gabriel and South Pasadena I think I'd favor Monrovia-Duarte zone over Commerce-Norwalk-Rosemead. M-D is closer to more of your destinations than C-N-R is, and M-D is a better area in general (imo). Free parking in M-D too. Reasons to favor C-N-R zone would be that you want to gamble (big casino in Commerce) or go to the outlet mall.Do you know what bidding histories, hotels, etc for this CNR zone?Type "Commerce Norwalk" (with no quotes) into the Quick Search Box at the very top of the page and you'll see all the wins and their prices. Then type "Monrovia". When your dates settle let us know if you want help with a strategy. Please use these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for your purchases.
Colfax Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 While we're talking Commerce-Norwalk-Rosemead here's an update for the Hotel List:The 3.5* Marriott Norwalk is now the independent Bluestone Hotel, so far unrated by Priceline. It appears Commerce Doubletree is the only 3.5* in the zone for now.
