maggielin Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Hi guysI will go to visit Los Angeles in following week and I decide to stay LA during 6/22-6/24. I don't have car so near transport is important for me and I do care with the price of hotels. I think downtown may be good for me and also for BH and hollywood. I did bid 60 for 3.5* hotel but reject. I really need suggest from you. Thanks very much.
thereuare Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Welcome ot betterBidding!I'm not sure if you're referring to 2 or 3 different zones above. To confirm, you're willing to accept a hotel in:Downtown Los AngelesBevery Hills - West HollywoodHollywoodYou have already bid $60 for a 3.5* in any of these THREE zones? What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. maggielin Posted June 7, 2010 Author Report Posted June 7, 2010 thank you for help.sorry about my English. I want bid above three zones as cheaper as better. I did bid 60 for 3.5* in this three zones. my maximum is around 65 . i can accept any star of hotel.
Colfax Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 $60 could be enough for a 3* in Downtown or Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone.Do either of those interest you? Or would you rather first bid higher than $60 for a 3.5*?

Or would you rather first bid higher than $60 for a 3.5*?I have try 55 for 3* yesterday but reject. Is it means I should go more higher ?
Romelle Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 I have try 55 for 3* yesterday but reject. Is it means I should go more higher ?Yes maggielin, the rejected $55 for your 3* bid means you should go higher. You can bid every 24 hours. Also, you can bid one area at one amount, and then add another area and bid a higher amount. all in the same day's bidding. As an example, you can bid the first area at $56, add the second and try $57, then add the third and try $58. Or you could bid $57, $59, and $61. Or ??3* hotels in the US are generally very nice. Romelle
maggielin Posted June 8, 2010 Author Report Posted June 8, 2010 thank you for help. I just want to konw what's the limit price for each star. because as I research 55 for 3* should be enough.like i set 2* for 452.5 for 503* for 553.5* for 65is this price all right or should be higher?
Colfax Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 I have try 55 for 3* yesterday but reject.Yesterday did you bid to $55 for 3* in all three zones (Downtown, Hollywood, Beverly Hills-West Hollywood)? Or just some of them? And backing up a little, can you say anything about what you plan to see and do in LA? Knowing that might help us narrow down the zones and options that will work best for you.

I plan one day in Universal Studios Hollywood the other two day to go around hollywood . beverly hills see some famous place.
Colfax Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 That info helps, thanks.Since you won't have a car my suggestion is to just bid the Downtown and Hollywood zones for now, and maybe not Beverly Hills-WeHo, because Metro (the train) serves Downtown and Hollywood, and you can take Metro out to Universal. Metro doesn't go to BH-WeHo, so you'd be relying on buses and cabs more if you stay in that part of town. (But you can add BH-WH to this strategy if you want to stay there anyhow.)You've been rejected at $60/3.5* and $55/3*.When your 24 hour lockout is over I suggest trying $60 for a 3* in Hollywood and Downtown zones. Or try a staggered approach like Romelle suggested: bid $56 for a 3* Downtown, then add Hollywood and bid $60.Please start your bids with this PRICELINE link, and let us know how it goes.Good luck!
maggielin Posted June 8, 2010 Author Report Posted June 8, 2010 i just try 60 for this two zones but still reject. i don't know why?
Colfax Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 $60 is low for a 3* in Hollywood zone. It usually takes more like $70-85. But Hollywood Heights Hotel, the only known 3*, is sold out for your dates, so if you win something it will probably be Downtown.I did bid 60 for 3.5* in this three zones. my maximum is around 65 . i can accept any star of hotel. You've bid $60, so next step is try $65 for 3* in Downtown and Hollywood. I suggest bidding to your limit for 3* before going 2.5*.You can either wait 24 hours and try $65, or if you understand about using "rebid zones" you can bid again at $65 now, without waiting. Ask if you need info on that.If $65 doesn't work tomorrow we'll look at alternatives.p.s. How many in your party? Is a room with one bed enough?
maggielin Posted June 8, 2010 Author Report Posted June 8, 2010 thanks for your help.I just try 45 for 2* and they accept .
Colfax Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 Congratulations, maggielin. Which hotel did you win?
Romelle Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 Congratulations, maggielin. Which hotel did you win?And may I add my congratulations! For Los Angeles public transportation, you can find information at:www.metro.netThe system is big and complicated, but really does work well. You might consider buying an "all-day" pass for $5.00. It lets you ride as many times as you want for the whole day, both on busses and trains. There is some good general information about the train portion at:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles_County_Metro_RailRomellePS - Hi Colfax!
thereuare Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 Besides the hotel received, can you please also add the city, zone, and dates of this win. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. maggielin Posted June 9, 2010 Author Report Posted June 9, 2010 thanks for all your help also for the transport info.my bidding is 6/22/2010-6/24/2010 Los Angeles downtownThe Wilshire HotelRoom Cost (avg. per room, per night): $45.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $90.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $20.68 (USD) Total Room Cost: $110.68 (USD) thanks again.
Colfax Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 Thanks, maggielin.I think you won the Wilshire Hotel at 3515 Wilshire Blvd, but please confirm if you see this, as there are a few hotels with the word "Wilshire" in their name. If that's the right address this used to be the Wilshire Plaza Hotel and they've dropped "Plaza" from their name. $45 is very good price for LA (hotel's regular price is $109) and the Wilshire is close to a Metro stop. Hotel is in Koreatown really, not Downtown, but Priceline includes part of Koreatown in their Downtown zone.Enjoy your stay.p.s. Hi, Romelle!
thereuare Posted June 9, 2010 Report Posted June 9, 2010 Thanks for the follow-up... can you please confirm that this is indeed the Wilshire Plaza at 3515 Wilshire Blvd.Thank you. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

Colfax Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 To update the Hotel List this is now the "Wilshire Hotel". No more "Wilshire Plaza".
