SpecialNeedsKids Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I have two little boys with food allergies and Autism. When we travel we need a room w/ more space style Embassy Suits. We also need microwave, refrigerator, etc. We usually just book straight from Embassy Suits but now we are low on $$ and still need to take the boys out of the AZ heat! Any suggestions/help on how we can get Embassy suites for a better price through Priceline We want to travel May28-31/2010. The deals we have found that other people got were earlier in May. We want to stay in LA or Redondo beach. Anywhere really close to the beaches. Last priceline trip in December 2009 we got Hyatt Regency Garden Grove for $45 night, then we found out we have parking $15 a night, plus to upgrade so we would have the living room w/ microwave extra $25 night. So we spent like $85 a night. It would be great if we could spend less and just have our favorite hotel: Embassy Suits! They are more family friendly and much better place for our little boys. Thank you kindly for the help!

The main ammenity setting it aside from others is the included stovetop or microwave oven (kitchenette). SpecialNeedsKids Posted May 25, 2010 Author Report Posted May 25, 2010 We're searching for may 28-31. My wife also posted a ? Under general questions about us trying to find a good deal through PRICELINE for embassy suits. We need it in LA, redondo CA for the dates above. thanks!
thereuare Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I have merged your threads, please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread...We're searching for may 28-31. My wife also posted a ? Under general questions about us trying to find a good deal through PRICELINE for embassy suits. We need it in LA, redondo CA for the dates above. thanks!PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, and there is no way to designate a room with a refrigerator and/or kitchenette, which are the two problems you encountered at the Hyatt... is this is a risk you're willing to accept? I think you were lucky in your previous stay to be able to upgrade at all (at any price), so given you need (vs. want) a hotel with both a refrigerator and kitchenettte, HOTWIRE is the safer bet... not even taking into consideration the double vs. quad occupancy issue.Need help in identifying this Hotwire hotel below.3.5 * $76/nightComplimentary BreakfastFitness CenterBusiness CenterLaundry FacilitiesHigh Speed Internet AccessKitchenetteAre you sure this is rated 3.5* by HOTWIRE? I'm seeing a property in this zone with the amenities above but it's rated 3* but it only appears when searching for 2adults (not when search 2adults/2children)... are you still seeing a 3.5* rated property on your own HOTWIRE search with the amenities above and are you searching for quad occupancy? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 It would be great if we could spend less and just have our favorite hotel: Embassy Suits! They are more family friendly and much better place for our little boys.Unfortunately there is no Embassy Suites in Manhattan or Redondo Beach. The two closest are at LAX. One of them is sold out for your dates and the other, in El Segundo, charges $22/night parking, so I presume you're not interested in that. Are you open to other brands besides Embassy Suites? What's your maximum budget for this stay?

I would be open for another hotel if they had the same type of rooms as the Embassy Suites. Any ideas? I don't mind driving a little more to go to the beaches.

Colfax Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I would no mind paying for the $22 parking <at Embassy Suites LAX South> if we got the rooms for about $50.I checked Hotwire and the Embassy Suites LAX aren't appearing for your dates. We want to stay in LA or Redondo beach. Anywhere really close to the beaches. We would like to stay at this hotel: Embassy Suites Los Angeles - DowneyDowney is like 15-20 miles from a beach. I checked Downey-Commerce-Norwalk zone on Hotwire and don't see anything offered that could be Embassy Suites Downey.================Since you're considering Downey are you open to staying anywhere in LA area--even if it's not near a beach--as long as it's a suite with two beds, microwave and fridge, and under $80 pretax? And are you driving from Arizona or flying? (I ask this for a reason.)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your searches and purchases.
SpecialNeedsKids Posted May 25, 2010 Author Report Posted May 25, 2010 We are Driving. Around $80 would be great in LA. We checked HOTWIRE too and could not find anything...
thereuare Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 SpecialNeedsKids,I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment...PRICELINE offers a deep discount in exchange for being flexible in your plans. If you require a room with a kitchenette then PRICELINE is not going to be the the service i would recommend for your stay. Yes, it's the cheapest, but it also stands the greatest risk of the hotel not working for your needs... much as you encountered previously at the Hyatt. Fortunately that property was able to offer you an upgrade for only $20/nite... another property may not offer rooms with kitchenettes at all, or if they do, may not allow you to upgrade at a reasonable price (or at any price). This doesn't even take into consideration the double vs. quad occupancy you issue.HOTWIRE could still be a possibility as they will allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and you can choose a property which shows the Kitchenette icon, ensuring that it will work for your needs. But to backtrack... if you're willing to spend up to $80/nite before taxes and fees, add in PRICELINE's booking fee of ~$5/nite... and you're only ~$30/nite away from the rate you quoted at the Embassy Suites. Yes, i understand that $85 is better than $115.. but when the $85 comes with the risk that the hotel may not work for your needs, on a variety of levels, i think the direct booking at $115, which is exactly what you're looking for, is the safer (and better) choice. If you want to continue to try to book via opaque methods i'll reiterate that i think HOTWIRE is the better booking method based upon your requirements for this trip, and if you choose to continue to move forward with PRICELINE that is your option, but you need to be willing to accept the limitations that come with using their service (ie- not being able to ensure a room with a kitchenette and/or refrigerator and it only guarantees double occupancy)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (or our Embassy Suites link if you go that route) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Colfax Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 If you can stretch your limit from $80 to $99 here are a couple options that I think will meet all your requirements, for less than Embassy Suites price:1) Residence Inn Manhattan Beach. $99 (or $94 AAA) for a Studio Suite with 1 Queen plus sofabed. Full kitchen, parking and breakfast buffet included. 1 mile from beach.2) Ayres Hotel Manhattan Beach/LAX. $99 for 2 Queens. Microwave and fridge in room. Parking and breakfast buffet included. 3 miles from beach.Do either of these appeal? Have you found anything suitable for less than $99 in your own searches? If you purchase one of these it would be appreciated if you used the board's Expedia link.
Colfax Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Would you settle for a former Embassy Suites? The Radisson Suites Covina used to be an Embassy Suites, and they're on HOTWIRE for $58. Searching "2 adults/2 children" in Covina this comes up in the East LA zone:Suite, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Highspeed. That matches previous Radisson reports here. Radisson reviews aren't great but it's got the price and the amenities you want. And it's is on I-10...you'll be driving right past it. Main thing you'd be giving up here (vs the hotels mentioned above) is proximity to the beach...it's about 30 miles inland. Please use this HOTWIRE link if you purchase. And that's all the suggestions I've got.
