Harold_D Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 I'm new to your site which I just found yesterday. We are taking our 12-year old granddaughter to San Francisco for six nights (June 10 thru 15). We plan to spend 3 nights in the city without a car and 3 nights outside the city with a rental car so we can take her to Monterey Bay and a couple of other sites. Thus, we are looking at making two bids. We're still trying to narrow down the area we wish to stay. At this point my question concerns our need of a room with two beds. I read a warning that PRICELINE's default is a room for two people, i.e. one bed. However, I found a posting on your site where someone had bid for a room that accomodates three people, i.e. two beds. Do I need to avoid using PRICELINE? What has to be done on HOTWIRE to insure a 3-person room? Thanks for your help.
AaronJB Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)PRICELINE guarantees double occupancy/1 bed. One can request two beds from the hotel after making a PRICELINE reservation, but the hotel can say no or charge more for a room w/2 beds. Some people get lucky and the hotel is able to provide two beds. However, there have been many cases where the hotel has said no. There's no way to know for sure, and using PRICELINE to get two beds is often a greater risk in larger cities.HOTWIRE does guarantee bedding for the amount of people in the party. If you search for 2 adults and 1 child, you will get bedding for your party. While that commonly means 2 beds, it can also mean 1 bed + 1 sofabed or other combination. Please let us know if you have any other questions and what you decide.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Colfax Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 We are taking our 12-year old granddaughter to San Francisco for six nights (June 10 thru 15). We plan to spend 3 nights in the city without a car and 3 nights outside the city with a rental car so we can take her to Monterey Bay and a couple of other sites.Have you decided which three nights you're spending in the city? With dates maybe someone can suggest a nice hotel with two beds for you.
sfodfw Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Sometimes in HOTWIRE, when you request to room for 2 adults and 2 kids, some hotels disappear from the list. I tried this, staybridge suites- san bruno disappears. Even though, you will get 2 bedroom suite there. May be because it is a business hotel?
AaronJB Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Some hotels may not appear when searching for 2 adults and appear when searching for 2 adults/2 children and some hotels may appear when searching for 2 adults and not 2/2. Some hotels only choose to offer double occupancy/2 via the service. Either way, users are entitled to a regular/non-upgraded room.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Colfax Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 Even though, you will get 2 bedroom suite there.sfodfw,I've posted here a few times that I got a 2-bedroom suite at the Staybridge, on PRICELINE and on HOTWIRE stays. That's true, but I've also been given a standard 1-bedroom suite on other occasions, and standard is all you're guaranteed on a PRICELINE reservation. Upgrade is nice when it happens, but you shouldn't expect to get a 2-bedroom suite. The standard suites there have one queen bed plus a hideaway in the living room that sleeps two children or one adult. You said you're bringing your 12-year old granddaughter to SF for a visit and you won't have a car in SF. I'm wondering if there's a reason why you're looking at hotels by the airport. Downtown or Fisherman's Wharf would be much more convenient for seeing the city.Would you rather stay Downtown/FW if you could find something there in your budget with two beds?
