Priceline Hotel: 3* Atlantic City

We're considering going to Atlantic City for the weekend of 7/16-7/18, but it seems the rates for that weekend are really high right now ($230+ for Chelsea Hotel for example vs $170 for the same hotel the following weekend). Is there something going on in town the weekend of 7/16?

I don't know if there is somthing in particular going on this weekend (ie- boxing match or something like that) but rates really sky rocket during the summer... especially on weekends. If you searched other weekends in the summer it wouldn't surprise me if you found similarly high rates (and that would also indicate if there was something 'special' going on this particular weekend driving up hotel prices more so than usual)

Thanks. I looked at other weekends and they're more along the lines of $150-200. This weekend is close to $300.

I searched HOTWIRE for your dates, the weekend before, and the weekend after, and for 3*, 3.5* and 4* properties are all priced about the same regardless of which weekend.

I haven't checked hotwire for other weekends, but I checked Chelsea and Sheraton's websites, and other weekends both in June and July were a lot cheaper. Either way, we're likely going to select another weekend and I'll post my results. Thanks!
