peakay Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 OK, am probably kidding myself that we will get a PRICELINE room over Memorial weekend, but here goes....Target property: La Quinta Resort (Feedback: Does this seem to be the resort everyone is getting in this area?)Rack rate: Booked a cancellable backup off their web site for $179 AA rate, 2 Queens. $169 offered prepaid.Bids: today I used the BB link and bid Palm Desert 71-77-82 using the Indio and Palm Springs free rebid zones. No luck.Help Sought:- Is la Quinta the likely property we'll get wiht a win?- What's a realistic expectation for price on this weekend?- Will i have best resuls only right before the weekend or should I keep bidding during the week? Thanks BB!
Colfax Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 am probably kidding myself that we will get a PL room over Memorial weekendPeople were getting nice deals in that zone during peak season, Jan/Feb/March. I don't think hoping for a deal in May is ridiculous, even if it is Memorial Day weekend. Is la Quinta the likely property we'll get wiht a win?No. You could win any of the seven reported resort properties in the RM-PD-IW zone. Or you could be the first to win a resort that hasn't been reported here yet. With that in mind are you still interested in using PRICELINE for this trip?If so how high have you bid so far? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your purchases.
Colfax Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Booked a cancellable backup off their web site for $179 AA rate, 2 Queens. Also, do you need two beds? Priceline only guarantees double occupancy, which could be a room with one bed.
thereuare Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 To add to the above...If you enter "Resort Palm Desert" into the QUICK SEARCH box at the top of the board you can see the resort rated properties in this zone which have been reported most recently. Also, looking in the Priceline Hotel List you can see there are plenty of other Resort rated properties in this zone, i wouldn't count on getting any specific one. What is your maximum bid for this stay? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your bidding. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
peakay Posted May 25, 2010 Author Report Posted May 25, 2010 Sorry for the gap guys -- I must have forgotten to check the email replies box.I booked a room for $179 per night off their web site and based on what I was seeing for availability, I didn't feel confident in pricelining. There are currently no rooms available through their web site right now, so it seems sold out. Thanks for the help. I'd still like to reduce our outllay for this, so let me know if you have any ideas, but it doesn't look good.
AaronJB Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Thank you for the follow-up - glad you were able to nab a room before they were gone. Please use the site's links in the Support/Travel section if you do book regular rate. Additionally, please let us know if you decide another route.Enjoy your stay.
