krlbrgmnn Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Don Fernando de Taos Hotel & Suites1005 Paseo del Rieblo Sur,Taos, NM, 87571(575) 758-4444Amenities: Pool(s)Restaurant(s)Tennis NearbyHotel rate per night - Hotwire hot Rate:PricePerNight:$59.00 (8% less than hotel's site or Orbitz)Nights:1Rooms:1Subtotal:$59.00Tax recovery charges and fees:$15.86Total price:$74.86This is a new hotel for BB's HOTWIRE hotel list. There are currently no Taos hotels listed in either BB's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE list for New Mexico.Bid history: Tried to PL, starting with 4* @ $60, 3.5* @ $60, 3* @ $50, 2.5* @ $50, 2* @ $40; all failed. Knew HQ had a 2.5* ready @ $59 so was targeting at least $9 less on PL, given hassle of Pricelining. Checked Orbitz first and saw this hotel was listed as best 3* deal on that site @ $64, so I wanted at least at $5 discount for taking a comparable white-label off HW, suspecting that it might be the same hotel, which it was.ComparisonHotel's website lowest rate: $64, same as Orbitz's posted priceI consider this one of my weakest deals but, then again, it is unknown territory on BB and has relatively few hotels (2 on HW @ 2.5* and 2*; unknown # on PL @ 4* all the way down to 1* or 6 classes total).I began my Priceline bidding through this site's PRICELINE link and then also used this site's HOTWIRE link to ultimately make my purchase. Please do the same when using either one.
AaronJB Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Congratulations on your success!Sorry to hear that this wasn't as strong a discount, but smaller markets can be tougher for bidding. Thank you for letting us know about this new HOTWIRE property so that we can update the site's Hotwire Hotel List.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using the site's HOTWIRE link.Enjoy your stay.
krlbrgmnn Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 Although I found this hotel well worn in the "rooms dept," (I'd rate them 2* "motel" rooms and they were very noisy, even with minimal traffic in the hotel; they were "outside" access rooms, like a motel), I would say this was probably one of the nicer hotels I saw on the main drag running through Taos. Very conveniently located. POTENTIAL MONEY-SAVER 1: Surprised to find that it offered two complementary breakfast tickets upon check-in, although we did not use them and don't know what was offered. POTENTIAL MONEY-SAVER 2: Free wi-fi that I could access weakly from the room.
thereuare Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 While it doesn't sound as if this was the best hotel you've ever stayed in, i guess it's one of the best of the group for the area. Thanks for the follow-up! Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
