Colfax Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding, parkpointer. This looks like a match for Hotel Whitcomb. If you purchase please use this HOTWIRE link and let us know what you get.For $68 on PRICELINE I think you might also be able to win a 3* closer to Union Square. Let us know if you want to explore that option.
parkpointer Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 I have to wait until tomorrow to try PRICELINE. I already tried bidding once, and used all my rebids today. Thanks for the suggestion.
parkpointer Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 Need help with bidding strategy willing to go up higher, but wants to stay under 80 a night.Recently tried without success at $70 for 2.5* in SFO Area listing:USW, USE, Fishermans Wharf, Lombard Marina, Financial District, SOMA.Dates are 05/26-05/29 for 2 adults 1 bedroom.Any help would be appreciated.
awk316 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 Hi,For part of your dates (5/28-5/31) someone got the 3* San Francisco (Fishermans Wharf) Best Western Tuscan Inn for $60/night. See this PRICELINE San Francisco thread.Known hotels for 3* in Fisherman's Wharf:3* Best Western Tuscan Inn 3* Holiday Inn(NOTE: This is no guarantee. There may be others that this site is not aware of that you could get. Having said that, I've never won a hotel that was not listed.)Area without 3* hotels (free re-bid zones):Marina - Lombard Street. What this means, is if you want Fishermans Wharf, you get 2 bids every 24 hours. For example, $60, then $61. You get the second bid by adding "Marina-Lombard Street." Since there are no 3* hotels in this area, you are effectively, rebidding on Fisherman's Wharf only.As your dates aren't over the holiday weekend, I would think you could get it cheaper than the other bid for $60. However, that was won at the beginning of the year.If you're happy with those hotels for $60, I'd try that first. Then we could apply the same strategy to other areas. That's just a lot of hotels to consider. View the known Priceline Hotel List.Let me know if this doesn't make sense. I'm sure the advanced memebers will also post to help out.Andy
awk316 Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 On second thought, as time is a factor, I'd probably try $65 and $70 today, then $75 and $80 tomorrow. Then you'll have time to try other areas. I don't think you have time to go by $1 increments.
parkpointer Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 Thanks, I went with HOTWIRE instead. Like you said, time is not really on my side.Confirmed Hotel Whitcomb. Thanks for your help, I decided I couldn't wait any longer, so excited for my trip.
