greatbaby Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 I'm going to have my first PRICELINE bid! Am interested in the Sheraton carlsbad near Legoland, 6/23-6/28. got a couple questions, Is Sheraton the only 3.5 start in PRICELINE? And how much shall start with? Thanks.
Colfax Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Welcome to the board, greatbaby. So far Sheraton's the only 3.5* that's been reported in Priceline's North County Coastal zone, but there's always the chance that some other 3.5* might come up for the first time, or that a 3* could get upgraded. I don't think it's likely but it's possible.Bidding strategies are based on rates for your dates. What's the Sheraton's rate for your dates, looking on Sheraton's website? How many beds do you need? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your searches and purchases.
greatbaby Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 Thanks Colfax! The rate on Sheraton's website starts at $209. I'd like to have 2 beds, but I don't think I can specify it on priceline, right? What rate do you think I shall start with? Or shall I wait since it's still 1.5 month away?
Colfax Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 If this is available it might take $100-120, guessing. HOTWIRE has a 4* in Carlsbad for $179 but it looks like La Costa, not Sheraton. No you can't specify two beds on PRICELINE. You can on HOTWIRE but it costs more usually.Sheraton rooms are larger than a typical hotel room. (I stayed once.) My standard room had a large hideaway couch for two, plus the bed. If you're interested you can call Sheraton and ask if their standard rooms (what you should expect on Priceline, not an upgraded room) are large enough for four. If yes maybe you can get by using PRICELINE in this instance. Keep in mind Sheraton's the only known 3.5*, but some new 3.5* could come up for first time.Is $100-120 the budget you were thinking? If so someone can suggest a strategy. You can start low, like $70, and bid up to whatever is your limit because San Diego has a lot of rebid zones.

greatbaby Posted May 9, 2010 Author Report Posted May 9, 2010 Yes, $100-120 is exactly what I hope for. I tried $100 and $105 yesterday and today but got rejected. I did use the PRICELINE link above.
