aarons mama Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 I'm trying to book a hotel in SD from 6/5 to 6/7. Ive been bidding using the free zones all the way up to $80 with no hit. Is there something going on in SD on those dates?Im looking for a 3* and the max i will pay is $80 ( not including taxes) can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong?
Colfax Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding, aarons mama.In which San Diego zones have you bid to $80 for a 3*?Have you checked if there's anything under $80 in those zones on HOTWIRE?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your searches and purchases.
soccermacmom Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 I don't know what's going on that particular weekend, but San Diego is a very popular vacation spot, and I'm guessing that since schools let out in early June in many parts of the country, lots of people have already booked their vacations. (Southern California schools aren't out until mid-June.)I always look at the regular PRICELINE offerings (not the Name-Your-Own) before bidding (Use the PRICELINE link above and click the "hotels" tab at the top of the PRICELINE page) -- Three-star hotels START at $109 for that weekend, and many are more. Even popular two-stars are $139 or more. So if you aren't getting anything at $80, you need to change your star level or your budget or your dates. If your budget is firm and you aren't too picky, the Ramada Mission Valley-Qualcomm doesn't look too bad for $71 night and it's in a fairly convenient location. Personally, I would stay away from anything on Rosecrans (like the Howard Johnson). A lot depends on what's most important to you and how flexible you can be.
CFraz Posted May 6, 2010 Report Posted May 6, 2010 There is a marathon going on and yes, its pretty much booked up for that weekend.cf
