janie7850 Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 I would like to bid on priceline on a 3* hotel in West Orange, NJ for next weekend Friday and Saturday night 5/7-5/9. I dont see any re-bid zones for this. All the other areas have 3* hotels. How can I bid more than once when there are no rebid zones?
yellowdog Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 How can I bid more than once when there are no rebid zones? You can't. You can only bid once every 24h if West Ornage is the only zone you're willing to stay in.Let us know how we can help you further.Yellowdog.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
janie7850 Posted May 1, 2010 Author Report Posted May 1, 2010 The two 3* hotels in West Orange, NJ are the Marriott Courtyard and the Wilshire Grand. The best rate I can find on the Internet for these hotels are around $150 a night for 5/7-5/9.What amount do you think I should bid since I can only bid once per day?
thereuare Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 How high are you ultimately willing to go for a 3* hotel in this zone? (as this will often help determine a starting point based upon how much time you have before your stay)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
janie7850 Posted May 2, 2010 Author Report Posted May 2, 2010 I think $90 per night is the highest I am willing to go. Thank you for any advice you can give me. Janie
thereuare Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 I would make the following bids every 24 hours:$55, $70, $80, $90This will bring you up to your maximum bid in 3 days time which still leaves you 2 days to find alternate accommodations (or bid again for a lower rated hotel) should you not be successful. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. janie7850 Posted May 2, 2010 Author Report Posted May 2, 2010 I set up a reservation that I can cancel up to 6pm day of arrival if I win on Priceline. I was thinking of waiting until 2 days before and trying $70 and then $90 the night before. What do you think. I don't want a commitment until I'm 100% sure that I'm going.
dahammer Posted May 2, 2010 Report Posted May 2, 2010 What do you think. I don't want a commitment until I'm 100% sure that I'm going.PRICELINE bookings are not cancellable, why would you ask for help before you were committed to this trip?
janie7850 Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 I wanted to wait until it was closer to Friday to bid, just to make sure that I could leave town.. I have 2 teenagers at home and "stuff happens"..Now that it's getting closer to Friday, I'm ready to bid. Since priceline bookings are not cancellable, I wanted to wait and bid at the latest possible date. I don't have any free re-bid zones so I can only bid once every 24 hours.
thereuare Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 You only have 3 bidding opportunities, so i'd suggest bidding $60, $75 and $90.Also, while i don't your plans for this area, i'll add that you might want to take a look at the Morristown area to see it's convenient for your needs... there are often some GREAT deals to be had in that zone on the weekend. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. janie7850 Posted May 12, 2010 Author Report Posted May 12, 2010 I used the PRICELINE link on your board on Wednesday night and I put in a bid of $75 on a 3 star hotel in West Orange, NJ and it failed. I waited 24 hours and made sure to use your PRICELINE link again to put in a bid of $100 on 3 stars in West Orange and I won the Courtyard Marriott in West Orange. I really wanted that hotel because it was just a few miles from my seminar and it was right next to a shopping mall. I ended up bringing my teenage daughter and my neice and they went shopping while I was gone. It worked out well. The hotel gave me an upgrade to a room with 2 queen size beds at no extra charge. I saved about $100 with PRICELINE for the 2 nights. It really was a great deal. Thank you for your advice.
yellowdog Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 janie7850Congratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :) Also thanx for the addition for this new property to the BetterBidding Priceline Hotel ListSounds like you had a nice stay and is happy with the outcome.Yellowdog.
