MistyRyan Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Afternoon,Could you please help identify the 4* hotel in Hollywood, 30th July to 3rd August for $119. I'm guessing from previous posts that this would be the Roosevelt Hotel but I thought it wouldn't hurt to get your expert opinions.Amenities include Bed Choice, Fitness Centre, Pool, Restaurant(s), Business Centre, High Speed Internet.Recommended in 70% of customer reviewers, with 100+ reviews. TA rating of 3.5.We had been trying to get the 3* Hollywood Heights Hotel on Priceline, but we have tried bids of $80, $85, $87, $90 with no luck so thought perhaps it might be worth paying the extra for this hotel. Only problem is we really want a non-smoking room but I guess that is the risk you take and hopefully they should be ok with that request. Thanks again for everyone's help. And of course we have been using the links on these pages for our bookings (hopefully we are getting close to some others we are trying in other areas so should have some more results to post soon!).
yellowdog Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 I don't get any hit for 4* in the Hollywood zone when searching for your your dates. How many rooms/adults/children did you search for? Can you please run a new search and confirm that you still can see this hotel on your search.Thanx for using boards PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links :) Yellowdog.
MistyRyan Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 I just checked again its still there for $119. I searched with:Fri, Jul 30 to Tue, Aug 3Hollywood, CA - 1 room, 4 nights, 2 adults
Colfax Posted April 26, 2010 Report Posted April 26, 2010 Although the "Bed Choice" icon is new, the rest of the icons match what's been reported for Roosevelt in the past, and the 3.5 TripAdvisor rating matches Roosevelt. So I think it's probably the Roosevelt.Roosevelt handles the Bed Choice option a little different than what I've seen at other hotels. Roosevelt gives three pricing options:$139: 1 King$145: 2 Queens$119: Bedding assigned at checkinMost hotels with the "Bed Choice" icon just give two options---one bed or two.As far as the Hollywood Heights Hotel that you prefer.....you're probably bidding too early there for a stay 3+ months in the future. If you want to hold out for HHH I'd keep bidding up to about $80 for 3* once a week or so.Good luck whatever you decide.
MistyRyan Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 Thanks for all your help. We might hold out a few more weeks and see if we can get the Hollywood Heights... i'll update this post or create a new one once we eventually book. Thanks again.
MistyRyan Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 Just to follow up - we ended up going with the 4* booking from HOTWIRE and as we guessed it was the Hollywood Roosevelt. We ended up booking from 30th July - 2nd August (as our flight out on the 3rd is VERY early so we thought it best and cheaper to do a night near LAX on the 2nd August). The price jumped up to $129 p/night when it was only the 3 nights instead of 4 but we figure that is pretty good since it includes a Friday / Saturday night. Now we are just hoping we get a non-smoking room... oh well we will have to take that chance and see what happens on check-in!Thanks for everyone's help. We used your links for this one too.
yellowdog Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 MistyRyanCongratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your result with the board and using our HOTWIRE link to book this :) Can you please add a reply to this thread confirm the amenities shown before your purchase were as listed in your first post (Amenities include Bed Choice, Fitness Centre, Pool, Restaurant(s), Business Centre, High Speed Internet.)... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page. You can call the hotel and try to get them to reserve a non-smoking room in advance.Just start a new thread if you need any help with your LAX stay.Enjoy your stay.Yellowdog.
MistyRyan Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 Sorry should have included that information in my previous post. The amenities listed were identical to our original post:Amenities include Bed Choice, Fitness Centre, Pool, Restaurant(s), Business Centre, High Speed Internet.Recommended in 70% of customer reviewers, with 200+ reviews. TA rating of 3.5.The only difference seemed to be it was now 200+ reviews, not 100+ reviews. Thanks again.
