galileocan
Hi:Can anyone help. Does anyone know what the 5* hotel for Cancun on Priceline might be? I'm very puzzled because I'm looking for the 12th of March for 6 nights. Priceline is suggesting $130 a night for a 5* hotel. This seems insane, considering that all the quality hotels for that time period are all well over $200 a night. $130 would actually be a steal. Can anyone advise??Thanks! Link to comment
WillTravel
I'm not sure what makes up the "suggested price" number, but in some cases I think it's an outright fabrication. If you don't find a 5* hotel in Priceline's packages, try looking at TravelWeb and Expedia and Hotwire for possibilities. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!Ignore all such 'suggested price' messages.. they're meaningless. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
galileocan
Thank you. So......can I assume what you're saying is that although Priceline makes a suggestion, the price could actually be much higher (or many times lower) that their suggested price? Again.......$130 would be the biggest bargain of the century during this time. Priceline usually suggests inflated prices don't they? I've never seen a suggested price well below what the going rate is?So I'm guessing that if I went in and bid $130 or less during this time, I would most certainly be rejected? Link to comment
WillTravel
No way of knowing - but TravelWeb has a supposedly 5* offering at $148/night for your dates, so perhaps Priceline would accept less. Link to comment

seningen
Last year, the last week in March, I PL'd the Hilton -- a resort/4star on their list back then.It was sold out according to their website -- I got 2 rooms for $80/night for 7 nights. Most folks there paid more than $250/nt according to a discrete survey my wifehad with some guests.so YMMV,Mike Link to comment
