PierreC Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 50 dollars per night on the first bid to the Detroit River Omni Place. Great deal but not the hotel i wanted. i didnt want to go there and trust that the omni was a 4 stars according to Priceline. But it seems that it is a 3.5 stars. Got fooled here. I hope priceline make a correction.I wonder if i can negociate with Priceline because of that.
AaronJB Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Sorry to hear that you didn't get the hotel you were looking for. Where you do you see the Omni noted as 4*?Thank you for sharing your win with the board and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
PierreC Posted April 14, 2010 Author Report Posted April 14, 2010 If you look at the kind of hotel you can get if you bid for a 4 stars it is listed as a potential hotel the omni branch along with Marriott, Hyatt, intercontinental, Sheraton etc... So i presume that if you bid for a 4 stars there is a chance you will get the Omni. If you bid for 3.5 stars it doesnt mention the Omni as a potential hotel.
thereuare Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 The hotel brands shown are examples only, and each property can be rated differently in different areas (ie- there are some Hilton, Hyatt, Marriotts, etc that are 3*, 3.5*, 4* or Resort rated depending upon the specific property)As well, when you select a star rating it is the minimum you are willing to accept, so even if this Omni was rated 4*, PRICELINE could have upgraded your 3.5* bid to a 4* property, so your argument that this wasn't listed as a possibility doesn't really hold water (since your bid would have included all brands at the 3.5* leve and all brands at the 4* level)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Hope you can make this work for your needs and you enjoyed your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
PierreC Posted April 14, 2010 Author Report Posted April 14, 2010 Still a good deal i believe..even if i should have started the bid a little bit lower. My fault anyway i should have bid for a 4 stars first since a lot of people from this site have bid for a 3.5 stars and got the Omni. Its still a good hotel but far off the places im going. Thanks for your explanation
nick5 Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Its still a good hotel but far off the places im going. If you are heading downtown, they run a complementary shuttle. We have used it a few times. Once when going to an event at the Joe Louis Arena, they dropped us off and then we called when the concert was over and they picked within 15 minutes of the concert ending. No traffic for us to deal with at all! They dropped off another couple to a restaurant and told them to call when they were ready to return to the Omi. It is an older property but very well kept. The bar food down stairs was really good. This is turning into a mini review so I will stop. I just wanted you to know about the shuttle since you said it was a distance from the places where you wanted to go. Cheryl
