  1. I think your chance of getting a good price is lower because you're bidding for 2 rooms, and for both Friday and Saturday, which are usually harder to get. Have you considered other areas nearby? Also see if you can use any tips offered by this forum, like combining different locations and star levels. Good luck.
  2. 1st bid $50 for 3* Buffalo - Niagara Falls (Niagara Falls) 2st bid $50 for 2* Buffalo - Niagara Falls (Niagara Falls) + BUF Got Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, BUFFALO-AIRPORT 131 BUELL AVENUE CHEEKTOWAGA, NY 14225 Note: This hotel is not on the pinned Priceline Hotel List list
  3. Started at $80 for 3*, added 2 zones (elmhurst - free rebid; flushing - 3* & lower), and lowered to 2.5*. Got upgraded to 3* and doubletree is the one I wanted! :) dates: 10/6 - 10/7 Subtotal: $95.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $24.01 Total Charges*: $119.01 For the same dates, Hotwire rate is $135+tax, listing rate on hotel website is $219+
  4. Note that this hotel is in the "Oakland" zone. I was hoping for the holiday inn university center, turned out to be this one in edgewood :) Well, it IS within the area depicted on hotwire, so I can't complain. Amenities at this hotel: Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Laundry Facilities (self-service)
  5. Just got back from the hotel. I agree that the savings are great, compared to NYC and Jersey City hotels. Overall I'd give the hotel 4 out of 5 stars. 1. location Some people have mentioned that the hotel is hard to find. Here's what to do: follow the driving directions on the hotel's website :) Do NOT trust directions from mapquest or yahoo! as they might point you to the wrong way. When you get off the NJ turnpike from the south, go straight, cross paterson plank rd and route 3, and you'll be on harmon meadow blvd. At the end of it you'll see Sam's Club, turn left there, then turn left again when you see the millcreek mall. At the 2nd intersection turn left and the hotel is on your right. 2. transportation The 320 bus to PABT in NYC is very convenient. The hotel is its last stop, so you can't miss it. The drivers are very nice. Ask for a schedule at the hotel front desk. I don't know if they sell bus tickets as well, but some other hotels on the route did. The bus ride usually takes 20-25 minutes, but on monday morning we were stuck in traffic for 20 mn because of a disabled bus in Lincoln tunnel :) So for faster access to NYC, Jersey city would be a better choice. 3. room and service We had a non smoking king suite, big enough for a family of four. We liked the comfortable beds, 2 big TVs, clean and roomy bathroom. The microwave, minifridge, and coffeemaker all functioned well and were very clean. We didn't like the view (parking garage and route 3), oh well, we weren't there for the view anyway. No extra pollows or blankets in the closet. Some staff members were very nice and helpful, others were okay. Overall, the hotel is safe, quiet, and fairly convenient. I'd recommend it for families. Many thanks to thereuare for helpful info.
  6. Great info! thanks a million :) I have a trivial question: how do you transfer from the 320 bus to NYC subway? is the transfer free? (or am I dreaming? :) ) I know the port authority terminal is close to the Times square subway station, but they're not together, right?
  7. either is fine. I just need something that's convenient and fast, in case we need a quick meal before or after the sightseeing. Chinatown will definitely be our choice in the city :)
  8. Thanks thereuare. I see you changed the title to the correct format :) Can you recommend some Chinese restaurants close to the hotel/mall? We're taking my in-laws who're not very fond of american food :) I found 2 on yahoo map, on in the mall, the other on route 3. thanks!
  9. Your Offer Price: $57.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $114.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $24.49 Total Charges: $138.49 I had no luck trying 5/19-21, bidding up to $59 for both 3* and 2.5*, and $51 for 2*. same with 5/20-22 and 5/21-23. Sunday to Monday was my last option, and being frustrated after all the bidding, I sorta made a mistake here: it was my first attempt at those dates, and I went straight to 2-stars for $57. Fortunately I got upgraded to a 3*. should have bid lower prices first, since I had plenty of time. I only wanted secaucus, so didn't add any zones. Price posted on Primesuites website was $119-139. Other 2.5* and 3* suite hotels in the zone had similar prices. The 3* crown plaza was offered on hotwire for $73+tax, I didn't like its location and the price was still too high for me.
  10. Jasmine, I just got primesuites as well on priceline. Can you post a review here after you get back? I'd really appreciate it :) From the review I read on tripadvisor and yahoo travel, this is a decent hotel. Parking is free, but no complimentary breakfast, unlike the amerisuites in the area. I'm planning on taking the 320 bus, it's only $2.60 one way, 20-30 minutes to manhattan, and saves a lot of trouble driving and finding parking.
