  1. Started bidding on a 4* at $70. Rejected bids through $83. Accepted by the Omni at $85.
  2. Started bidding on a 3* Downtown at $70 and got it on the first bid. Current lowest price at their website for those dates is $190. A great deal on a gem of an old historic Charleston hotel.
  3. Began bidding at $75 and was rejected, moved up to $80 and got it. Subtotal: $80.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.70 Total Charges: $98.70 Be aware that there is a $20 valet parking fee for this property.
  4. Here's a new hotel for your list. I wasn't very patient, so this could probably be had for less. Started bidding for a 3* in Downtown or in Ashley River, but couldn't find anything for $90 or less. Ended up bidding for a 2.5* in Ashley River. Failed bid at $65. Added Downtown and rebid $85. Got the Best Western Charleston Downtown Hotel at 250 Spring Street. Your Offer Price: $85.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 6 Subtotal: $510.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $84.16 Total Charges*: $594.16 Better that the best rate I could find downtown, but not by a ton. Could have probably gotten a better deal on it if I wanted to bid over a number of days, but I was impatient.
  5. Previous bids: $68, $70 Accepted bid info: Your Offer Price: $72.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $144.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $29.57 Total Charges: $173.57
  6. Started bidding at $50 and went up in $2 increments until I got the room for $60. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $60.00 Subtotal: $60.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.84 Total Charges*: $76.84
  7. Used permutation bidding starting at $40, moving up at $2 increments trying to get a 4* hotel in either Downtown or Buckhead. Took a while, but finally landed the Marriot Marquis downtown for $74. I was hoping to grab something at a lower price, but it was not to be. Either the hotels were shy about making a Friday-only reservation, or I should have waited a few more weeks for some more inventory to open up or for them to get a bit more desperate. Am I doing it wrong? Anyway, not a bad deal. Cheapest price on Marriott.com is $169, so a nice $95 savings for a stay at a nice downtown hotel. Woulda preferred the Intercontinental, but what're you going to do? Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $74.00 Subtotal: $74.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.47 Total Charges*: $92.47
  8. FYI, The Glenn Hotel needs to be added to Atlanta (Downtown) 4* hotel list. Thanks, and keep up the good work on this site!
  9. Chicago - Midway Airport Economy Car 7/13-14 Got Avis for $18. Your Offer Price: $18.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 1 day Subtotal: $18.00 Taxes and Fees: $12.62 Total Charges: $30.62
  10. My wife and I used LuxuryLink 3 years ago to book our honeymoon at the Villa Del Sol in Xihuatanejo, Mexico. It was a georgeous place with wonderful service... the perfect relaxed honeymoon. We would never have been able to afford such a georgeous and luxurious suite or property in the high season without getting it on LuxuryLink. My advice is to watch the blackout dates and check with the property before bidding to make sure that they will have availability for that room-type for the dates you want, particularly if you are already tied into the dates you need it (as we were). Worked perfectly for us.
  11. Banned myself. What a ludicrous, sad woman she is. Not requesting help and adding information freely to enhance her site only results in banishment if you do not use her link. I have purchased using her link in the past, but did not use it for this purchase, so she banishes me, but keeps my post on her website, as it adds to her information. Obviously, the reason for banishment is not using her link. Count me in as another BetterBidding supporter. I'll post and use the links here and lurk there.
  12. Actually got this bidding for a 3* for May 13-18. Not sure why, but it seems that the 3*'s had no rooms open for these dates. Started bidding at $75 and went up in $5 increments until I got it for $145. I've gotten the Renaissance for $125 in the past, so this higher price coupled with the lack of any 3* rooms available leads me to believe that something must be going on at that time to increase demand, but I don't have a clue what it is. Spoleto Festival doesn't start until the end of the month. Who knows.
  13. Bid for a 4* in Downtown Charleston with 5 free rebid zones. Started at $70 and used permutation method to rebid about 16 times. Got the room at the Renaissance Charleston for $125. Would have actually preferred the Mills House for its historic charm and location, but it's a 3* and I didn't want to risk getting one of the other 3*'s. Think I'll enjoy the Renaissance.
  14. Yes. I bid on a Resort* property on St. John, using St. Thomas as a free rebid zone. MMight go for a bit more now, as the property is showing up for about $20 higher now on Hotwire.
  15. Grabbed a room at the Westin on St. John for March 18 - 26 for $275 a night. Cheapest price on their site and elsewhere is $609 per night. First bid was $225 and rebid (adding St. Thomas) at $250 to no avail. Second try, I started bidding at $265 and rebid $275 and got it. Extremely stoked, as this is a great resort on one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean in the high season and I got it for less than half the price. Hoping to upgrade my room using my Starwood Gold card. All in all quite a successful bid.
  16. $179 on Sofitel.com and elsewhere. Started at $60, increasing $5 with each re-bid. Check-In Date: Wed, May 7, 2005 Check-Out Date: Fri, May 8, 2005 Your Offer Price: $130.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $130.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $26.64 Total Charges: $156.64 A high price compared to the Hyatt deals I've seen around, but this is the first time I've seen Sofitel offered, and it's currently rated #1 in Philadelphia on Tripadvisor.com. Got the best hotel in town for $50 cheaper than anywhere else... I'm psyched! :)
