  1. I started out with a bid of $37, then used my free rebidding areas to make bids of $41 and $44 before I was successful. I knew that I could get the same hotel for $49/night on HOTWIRE, and that shaped my bidding strategy. Priceline included a .pdf file of the Las Vegas Zagat guide. (Moderator: Please move this to the Priceline Forum)
  2. I started bidding at $35, and added the following bids via free rebidding areas till I was successful at $46. $37 $40 $43 The lowest rate if booked via the sheraton.com website is $149.00/night, so this is a significant savings. I remembered to bid through savingsbarn.com this time. Plus I added a rental car that you should get credit for. I am paying $12.00/day for a midsize car, for a total with taxes of $45.00. If booked direct with Avis, I would be paying $92.00.
  3. I had been bidding for a few weeks on Priceline and could not get anything. This is a new hotel for your Hotwire hotel list. The only amenities are a swimming pool and laundry facilities. This will be great for the NHRA Finals in Pomona. The address is: 3990 East Inland Empire Blvd. Ontario, California 91764 (909) 944-8900 The best available rate for this hotel is $89.99. If I should have listed this under Los Angeles, could you please move the post so others most benefit?
  4. I started bidding at $49, and followed up with the following bids: $54 $59 $64 $69 The best rate available is $139.00, so this is a significant savings.
  5. Howdy folks, I booked this hotel today: Hilton Seattle Airport And Conference Center Seattle Airport (SEA) 17620 Pacific Highway South Seattle, Washington 98188-4001 My bids were (using free rebidding areas): $45 $49 $54 $59 $64 $69 The best available rate on Hilton's website is $229.00.
  6. This is the same weekend as the NHRA races, and the only identifying feature is laundry. The hotel is: Seattle - Kent ExtendedStay America 22520 83rd Ave. S. Kent, WA 98032 The cheapest rate booking directly is $74.99.
  7. Another hotel not on the current list (helps build the database): Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel (Upscale) 550 West Hastings Street Vancouver, British Columbia V6B 3Y6 Canada The hotel has these amenties: This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Cheapest rate on their website for this night is $139.00. I was expecting this to be the Metropolitan, but this place looks nice too. I booked through savingsbarn.com.
  8. I started with a $50.00 bid, and increased in $5.00 increments using my free rebidding areas. I am very happy with this hotel, as the lowest price on their website is $139.00 per night, and this is a savings of more than 50%. I bid throught the savingsbarn.com link. The location is optimum, the price is excellent, and they choice of restaurants near this hotel includes Pazzo, El Gaucho, Saucebox and El Grillo.
  9. I originnally started out bidding on 4* properties on Priceline, and when I got to $80, I ran out of free rebidding areas, I switched to Hotwire, and used the database here to determine before completing the purchase that this was the Radisson. Here are the amenities per Hotwire: LA Intl Airport LAX Distinctive Hotel This Hotel features the following amenities: Airport Shuttle <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Please note that Hotwire cannot guarantee the level of services offered at a property and/or if services are operational at the time of visit. Services may be closed due to seasonality reasons and/or may be closed for renovation. I used the link from savingsbarn.com when making the initial attempts on Priceline. I will use savingsbarn again when booking my car rental.
  10. I started bidding at $56.00 for a 4* property. No luck. I did the following raises based on my free rebidding areas: $61 $66 $71 $75 $80 $85 $90 $90 was my last free rebidding area for the night, and I was successful. With tax, the total is $109.40. The best rate on their website via AAA was $149, plus tax for a total of $167.63. I bid through the savingsbarn.
  11. This represents a $37.00 savings over booking directly using a AAA card. The rate on this night is $139.99 + 12.5% taxes. You can save a little by parking on the street, as on Sunday they don't check meters in downtown. The restaurant in the basement (The London Grill) is consistently one of Oregon's highest rated restaurants. There are two other dining options on site, the lobby bar and El Gaucho steakhouse. I only go to El Gaucho on an expense account.
  12. This is the first time I have seen this hotel on Priceline. It is a little south of downtown, and the first 4* hotel outside the downtown westside core. I would love to see your review of the hotel after your stay.
  13. My review: With only two elevators, the wait for one can be long. I woke up Sunday morning expecting a paper at my door, and no dice. I called the operator (Service Express), and was told they leave the papers on the table by the elevators. Location is great for downtown Portland. Valet parking is overpriced, use the Smart Park just down the street. Smallish room that is nicely decorated. The bed was the most comfortable that I have ever slept on, better than a Tempurpedic. Regarding the coffee maker/tea service: only one teabag, and only one each of regular and decaf. I like a pot at night and one in the morning. The Heavenly Shower: the showerheads were impossible to adjust to have one doing a massage and one a regular showerhead. The selection of bath products was just shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap. The soap looked to be Jergens, and the rest of the products were in generic bottles. With the seperate bath tub, I expected bath bubbles. No qtips, no cotton balls, The Benson has better (perceived higher quality) bath products, and they include mouthwash and other products. I checked out the workout room, the best of the free ones of any hotel in Portland. I especially liked the medicine balls and the cardio machines with the tv embedded in the screen of the machine, but even with cable tv, the view on screen was full of snow. As a property, it is definitely more up to date than the Benson, but the amenities are lacking as compared to the Benson.
  14. As a followup, I looked up the AAA rates for this hotel just now, and the same room would be $139.00. So, I still saved money, but I spent a couple hours getting the rate.
  15. I started bidding at $65, and increased to $75, $80, $91, $99 and finally $101. On Thursday night, this hotel had zero availability. Tonight the cheapest rate is $189, which is the escape rate, with in room breakfast for 2, local newspaper, and a 4 PM checkout. Overall, I am happy with the rate and I have never stayed at this property, so I am looking forward to this stay. Don't make the same mistake as me and forget (doh), make your bid through the link at SavingsBarn.com, and I am sure the moderator would appreciate it.
  16. For a 4* during the summer, you can expect to pay up to $90 a night. What are the 4* charging for this date?
  17. You had more free rebids for Portland in the 4* category.
  18. You have more than one free rebid for Portland in the 4* category.
  19. Howdy, While appreciated the tip on Brasa, and I did check their menu out, when never made it there. We ended up with Club Privileges, and so the one happy hour we hit was at the hotel. We did go here for dinner: Linky The great news: The food was real good The band rocked The bad news: Parking $10.00 They charge cover over a half hour before the music starts ($10.00 each). Granted you can get into other clubs, but that was not our plan No air conditioning on a warm night Sheraton plusses: Location (close to Pike St. Market, Gameworks, etc.) View (35 stories) Free bottled water (two per day in the room) The staff is all super nice Sheraton negatives: Parking $24-26 a day plus tax on that amount (standard for this area of downtown) The bath products provided by Sheraton (shampoo and conditioner were Pantene, lotion was Vaseline Intensive Care, soap was Jergens). I just expect at a 4* place these days they have a high end brand like Crabtree and Evelyn or Aveda, etc. or even a private label that suggests it is high end. I brought my own of these products and I am taking what they left for us down to a homeless shelter. The shower floor was like a "v" making it hard to stand in comfortably, plus it was super narrow This was the first time I have stayed in downtown Seattle in years. I think I may head back out to the burbs in the future. The room cost should be between $35 - 80/night, plus free parking. We could buzz downtown in like 15 minutes, and just for parking for an evening or an afternoon. To wrap up, we saved a ton via Priceline, and the location can't be beat.
  20. Thanks for the restaurant tip. I will try it tomorrow. A little info about the property: there is currently construction going on, and no onsite self parking. Valet parking is the same price right now, and it is $26.00 a day, ouch. One block away is the Cheesecake Factory, and right accross the street is Niketown. Locationwise, for downtown one of the best places.
  21. Started out bidding at $85, with $10 raises. I made my bids through the link at SavingsBarn.com, and I would like you to do the same thing.
  22. This is not on the hotel list as of now. The amenities are: Airport Shuttle Pool(s) Business Center Fitness Center Restaurant(s) I am booking multiple properties, as I am helping friends attend the College World Series. Price on the Hilton website $159.95 a night. I hope this info helps others.
  23. My first bidding area was Southwest Omaha and the second area was Central and Northwest Omaha.
  24. I started bidding tonight. I started with a 2* bid for $34, and was rejected. I added a second area and increased my bid to $51.00, and won the following: Clarion Hotel West (NE071) 4888 S. 118th Street , Omaha, NE, US, 68137 Phone: (402) 895-1000 Fax: (402) 896-9247 The hotel has rates listed $129 - 149 a night, so this was a significant savings. Thanks for the site, and I hope this helps someone.
