  1. Well until your plans are firm, you shouldn't use Hotwire or Priceline as they are non-refundable. One option you can choose is to book a cancellable reservation for the Holiday Inn Select through EasyClickTravel for $117.64 + taxes. It is located between 2 red line stations which bring you directly to South Station for a transfer to the silver line. Here's their short hotel description:
  2. What are your dates? We'll make a plan from there.
  3. The WTC area isn't a major hotel area. The only hotel that I know of in the WTC area is the Seaport hotel (4*). It's more of a business area and tourists don't go to that area. If you are going to the convention center, you would be better off staying in another area and take the Silver Line to the convention center. This way you'd have better access to Boston's tourist areas & restaurants.
  4. Welcome! 3* properties haven't been reported recently for the Copley area and 4* properties usually need bids higher than $80 for Copley. Is there any reason you didn't bid on the downtown area? It typically is cheaper than Copley and Hotwire is showing a 4* for $117 in Quincy Market (Restaurant, Fitness, Internet, Business Ctr.) What will you do if you are unsuccessful at $80? If you haven't bid for downtown yet and would like assistance, please let us know what the maximum amount you are willing to spend.
  5. Please post the rates for the Hilton & Hyatt for your dates.
  6. Shop and Compare is not the same product as their name your own price section. It should not be used as the 'list' for possible hotels because it does not show all of the participating hotels. A better option is to look through the list of reported Las Vegas hotels.
  7. You will only win a hotel within the area(s) you select. If you don't select Fremont St Vicinity, then you won't get any hotels in that area. Do you want to stay on the strip in a 4* hotel or are you looking to stay in the Aladdin? You can only chose your hotel quality on Priceline, not a specific hotel. How much are you looking to spend? What is your maximum per night?
  8. Alright, after doing a quick hotel rate search, you may want to try the following on Priceline. You can try this at the 4* level, but be sure to close your browser and start a new request when you move down to the 3* level. Select 3* Downtown.... Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone.... Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously. Select 3* Cambridge.... Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone.... Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously. Select 3* Copley.... Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone.... Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $80, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously. Select 3* Downtown and Copley.... Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone.... Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $110... if rejected stick with the Holiday Inn Select for now.
  9. If you use the link I provided (or the one at the top of the page - "Easyclicktravel search") you will find the Holiday Inn select under the "Off the Record!" drop down menu. On Priceline, you have 2 free re-bid areas for the Boston area. Try to identify the 2 areas and verify them with us before bidding.
  10. The rate for the Hyatt Regency and the Millennium Bostonian is $289. In the Copley area, the Colonnade is unavailable and the Sheraton is $299. Although these aren't the only Boston hotels, with rates this high it is unlikely that you will get a 4* for under $120. You may want to book the Holiday Inn Select Gov't Center as a backup for $126.98 through the EasyClickTravel Search. Rooms are well sized, it's a short walk to the Charles/MGH T stop and about 2/3 of a mile from Faneuil Hall. Also, unless you plan on visiting other areas of Massachusetts (or New England), a rental car isn't necessary for getting around the Boston metro area. The 'T' covers the city well (MBTA Map) and parking can easily cost over $30 per day for your rental car. If you would like assistance on trying Priceline, just let us know the areas and we will work from there.
  11. How much are you willing to spend? Are you willing to split your bids? (i.e. one hotel for 9/2 and one for Sept 3-5) You may have success for the Venetian (5*) for $99 on 9/2. The other nights (or bidding for all of the nights together) will be higher.
  12. They were looking for the cheapest way to go from NYC to Boston. Amtrak would cost over $60 one way and airfare would be over $100. New York to Boston on Greyhound is $18 one way as a Big Apple special http://www.greyhound.com/scripts/TicketCen...vers.asp?rp=ppb
  13. South is greyed out to begin with (depending on your dates), so the zone cannot be used no matter what level you are bidding.
  14. Welcome! Do you have any figure that would be acceptable to you? For comparison: Hotwire has a 4* MTE for $235. The Beekman Tower has one bedroom suites (one bed plus a pull-out sofa) for $215. Reviews Would Jersey City, NJ be an option? Doubletree is showing $152. With a little help, it may be won for less on Priceline.
  15. Welcome! What airports are you looking to fly to/from? What dates? If flexible, please give us a range of dates to search.
  16. The 72 hours is just a waiting period. Once the bid is rejected, it will not be retried by priceline. You would just need to start again in 72 hours. Are you sure you understand the idea of free re-bids? Certain areas and levels allow you to bid higher without the risk of staying in the added area. If you read the above link, you should get a better understanding of free rebidding. If not, just ask :)
  17. Welcome! Booking a hotel at the last minute may make getting 2 beds more difficult (and expensive) in NYC. If you know you will be there the last 3 days, and are willing to stay at 2 hotels, what I would do is book the last 3 nights now and book a refundable option for the 1st night that you can cancel the night before. The other option is waiting until the 23rd to book a room as needed, subject to availability. If you are looking to get one room for the 4 of you, the Beekman Tower has 1 bedroom suites available for $150.60/night for your dates. These suites have one bed and a pull out sofa in the living room. It has good reviews and more space than a typical NYC hotel room. You would need to search using 2 people, but it can accomodate 4 using the pull out sofa. If you wait a little while, thereuare may also have some additional advice for you.
  18. Congrats on your win. Was this your first bid for this area?
  19. Again, you cannot see what hotels are available through Priceline's Name your own price section. They are an opaque service where you do not know what hotel you are staying at until the bid is accepted and confirmed. Since it is an opaque service, there is no list maintained by priceline that you can view. Priceline is meant for people who are flexible in their choice of hotel quality and location. You can view lists of reported hotels on this website, but as previously mentioned, it is not all inclusive as some hotels have not been reported (here or elsewhere).
  20. This is an example of the size of NYC hotel rooms: Photo You'd have to be a close group of 4 to be willing to violate fire code in a room that size.
  21. There's a QUOTE button above where you enter your post. :) Or you can type out the code for it, once you learn it (Alt + Q). The Shop & Compare section of Priceline does not list all of the hotels available. It's their way of acting more like a regular travel agent for people unwilling to use the opaque 'name your own price' section. In large cities, there are dozens of participating hotels, but only a few will be listed in the shop & compare. Otherwise, you'd be looking through page after page of hotels.
  22. An area with Resorts is not a free rebid area. You could be 'upgraded' to the resort level. No. You don't want to lower your star level for a 'free rebid.' When you do lower your star level, you should start a new bidding sequence (start w/ 1 area) and decrease the amount you are bidding. Otherwise, you will possibly end up overbidding on the lower star level (or winning a hotel in an area that was once a 'free rebid' area for the higher level).
  23. Welcome! If you could please post your winning bid under the appropriate state, it would help identify the new hotel and give other users an idea of how much it goes for. If the list you are referring to are the Priceline hotel lists on this website, they are not complete listings of available hotels (as described in the warning at the top of the page). Your bid is for the minimum quality of hotel you would accept. It's clearly stated in the Terms & Conditions that you agreed to (by signing with your initials).Again, please post your winning bid on the board. :)
  24. First, you really don't want to drive into the city unless you need to. You could stay at a hotel in Downtown/Copley/Cambridge and leave your car outside the city at a T station parking lot. Parking is typically under $5 and the subway will cost you $1.50 - $3 to get into the city. Commuting into the city may be your best option, you get to stay in the city and you don't pay for parking at the hotel. You could also consider the 2.5* level in the Medford - Somerville area. Both reported hotels offer free parking and you should be able to keep it under your limit. However, there are NO free re-bids for this level and you're outside of the city (consider transit time). From the hotel, you can drive to the Wellington T Station and park for $3.50. The LQ offers a shuttle to the T Station and the Amerisuites offers 'limited local transportation' (the station is approx. 2 miles from the Amerisuites). You may want to contact the hotel for more info, but for $3.50, you don't need to be on their schedule.
