  1. Bump to the mods? I know that you all consolidated the threads, but I haven't received help and would really appreciate it. Thank you.
  2. 1.) You don't need to bid over $169 necessarily to win at Priceline. On average, Priceline wins are about 20% less than Hotwire's prices, but this varies. 2.) You'd have to look at which hotels are within Priceline's different zones. I believe the Hyatt you're referring to is in the Common/Theater District zone - if you bid in that zone and select 4 star, you commit to accepting ANY 4 star hotel within that area. You're committed as soon as you click "buy my hotel room now" on Priceline. It clearly states that if one of Priceline's hotels in the area accepts your bid, that's it - no changes or cancellations allowed. There's no way to guarantee getting one hotel over another within the same star rating and same zone. The only way to ensure you don't get the Hyatt is to either not bid within that zone entirely or pay retail for one of the other hotels. Bidding over $200 will not ensure you get one of the other hotels - you could end up getting the Hyatt and simply overpaying for it.
  3. Expected this, as this was in the Las Ramblas NORTH zone now and the only 5* there I believe. Started at $110, got a counteroffer for $180 at $140, declined and secured at $160 using additional free rebid zones. Used the Better Bidding link...thanks!

  6. Hello board! I'm looking at a 5* for 5/24/12-5/25/12, 2 rooms, 2 adults and 0 children per room, and it comes up on Hotwire for $238 per night (zone: Palma area hotel). Help to Identify 5* Palma - Mallorca, Spain Amenities: Free Internet Indoor pool(s) Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Spa Services Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Thoughts? I'm thinking the Castillo San Vida - I had it down to the Sheraton or the Castillo, but they match on all amenities except free internet in all rooms (the Sheraton charges for this). Thanks!
  7. Interesting how quickly rates change! HOTWIRE had the Westin Copley for $148 up until yesterday then it jumped to $198 or $201. Did you get a counteroffer at $120? Thanks in advance.
  8. Awesome win! Could you advise if 100 was your starting bid or where you started before you got to 100? Thanks.
  9. Their retail rates for those nights are $259, so yes, I'd say you got a great deal! Just know that if you drive there you have to either park at the hotel or go over the bridge and park in Cambridge. Enjoy and congrats!
  10. nice, congrats! how long were you bidding for and where did you start? thanks in advance.
  11. LMT has the Palmer Hilton for 119 before taxes and it's available...would that work? It'll put you about $15 over budget.
  12. The last minute pricebreakers says you can win a 3.5* for this weekend by checking the Cambridge zone and bidding $67. Except it says the hotel is in Allston, which is on the opposite side of the Charles from the Hyatt and Marriott, so I think it's this Doubletree as it's the only 3.5 star in the zone on the Allston side. Seems like it's back! I ended up paying full price at this Doubletree last year on fourth of July weekend, this year it's on PRICELINE haha. Nice hotel.
  13. Did you get a counteroffer at 125? I am trying for something in later July and have gone to 110 for 4* and haven't gotten any bids, hence why I ask. Thanks!
  14. Needed a room for a few hours. Bid 3* at first for $42 and did not get anything. Was using the app, so a $60 winning bid for a 3* in Metro-West came up, and I reduced it to the lowest amount it let me, $42. Rejected on the app and it loaded a webpage in safari (same one we see online). Here, it let me click additional zones and enter any price. Retried for 2.5* and got the Crowne Plaza. Have left it already, but it was perfect for what I needed it for. No frills, definitely, but they gave me a room with two beds and it's all non-smoking. Definitely worth it for the rate. Wondering if I overbid at all, but I'm happy with what I got.
  15. I've stayed at the Omni after a Hotwire win - they mention an upgrade fee at check in, but if you're nice but pushy enough they'll waive it. I had two nights booked, and they had a king room available for one night but not the other. The first night there was no fee. The room the second night was so tiny overall, as was the bed. Good luck.
  16. Sure. Here they are: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby
  17. Alright. I posted it there because the "unpublished rates" are powered by Hotwire, and when I've won them before, it shows up in the hotel's system as a Hotwire purchase. I think it's just cross-branding because Hotwire had it for the exact same price and amenities, for what it's worth.
  18. I *THINK* Priceline will accept a bid as long as it accepts the minimum bid threshold for each night. Fridays and Saturdays in Amsterdam are pricey. So maybe you should consider splitting your bid into 4/20/-4/22 and then trying to extend a night for 4/23, and if that doesn't work, increase your bid. This would only work if you're OK with possibly having to change hotels. Otherwise, you may be paying a premium for the first two nights.
  19. Actually purchased this on Expedia "Unpublished Rates" after no success on Priceline up to $126, as I had a $50 coupon from Mastercard for Expedia/Hotwire. Expedia unpublished rates showed it as a 5 star, but it was also on Hotwire, same amenities, but as 4 stars. Looking forward to the stay. Wondering the same thing as with Hilton Brussels City about the status. And the amenities list matched what's on the hotel list exactly. Thanks.
  20. I bid $67 on Priceline for this when it popped up on Hotwire at this rate (before, when I went up to $91 on Priceline it was rejected, this property wasn't on Hotwire so guessing not on Priceline either) and it countered at $87. No success until $73, and I had a $25 off code if I used my Mastercard at Hotwire, so went with the Hotwire because I could guarantee I would be right across from the Hilton Brussels City. The amenities list matched exactly what is in the hotel list. Thanks.
  21. Looks like a new property for the Priceline list. Happy with it and it works perfectly because I booked the Sheraton Brussels on Hotwire for the night before, which is perfect because they're in the same plaza/right across the street from one another. Has anyone had any experience with opaque purchases and HHonors status? I called HHonors and they said the European hotels are pretty strict, so wondering if flashing the card or emailing them ahead of time would get me a larger room, as someone mentioned that having Gold status got them an upgrade at this hotel (but I'm guessing that wasn't an opaque purchase).
  22. May have overbid because I was bidding for both 4/5 and 4/6 at once, and it was rejected at 91, so I split the bid to each night separately and did $96 and it accepted for the Renaissance. Oh well. Looks great and excited.
  23. First bid of $85 accepted. Seems to be what almost every else on here around the same time got it for.
  24. Wanted to extend my stay in NYC from one night to two, but it seems everyone else who jumped on the Loews right around when I won it sold out their allotment of rooms. Started at 85...got a counter of $126 at $101.and after I hit $115, went up in $1 increments until I got it at $117. As others have noted about counters on here, they can be up to $1 off. It gave me a counter of $147 at $117, haha. I jumped on it because I saw the W on Hotwire (based on the amenities provided) at $126 so this saved me a few bucks.
