  1. Livinn Suites Burnsville 13090 Aldrich Ave S Burnsville, Minnesota 55124 Your Offer Price: $21.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $21.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $9.50 Total Charges: $30.50 Saw a posting on TOBB where this property was won for $20 and thought I would try to get it for around the same price (for a cheap overnight stay) Bid *2 Burnsville - $20 rejected Added Airport - MOA $21 accepted We will probably visit the MOA and possibly take in a Minnesota Twins game that weekend (they play the Red Sox) You can now ride the light rail into Minneapolis to the Metrodome from the MOA ($3)
  2. Travelzoo shows a $99 rate for the Omni Shoreham through June 30, although there are some blackout dates: June 5-6, 19-21, 23-25. It must be booked by June 10 and I checked rate for some valid dates and it was $99 (for 2 guests) For each additional guest there was an additional $30 charge, although they may not charge for kids (under a certain age) and you could request 2 beds and get the $99 rate Link: http://hotels.travelzoo.com/washington-dc-...c-hotels/191479
  3. Were you trying for the USE area jv? Fisherman's Wharf is no longer a free re-bid zone for 4* as the Sheraton has been upgraded to 4*, so feel fortunate you didn't get this on your bid. Great bidding and have a great trip! I visited San Francisco in late April and had a wonderful time!
  4. With posts of reviews, it would nice to have the winning bid amount shown. This way, without looking back at winning bids, readers could judge the value received for that particular property. Also, the poster could include the property's star rating (when bid on) and opinion if the property live up to it's rating. Thanks.
  5. randy, most of them have restrictions (or rules) for use. With some you have a minimum purchase amount (like purchase has to be at least $25 on a $10 certificate) or they can only be used at certain times. You will see this on the listings for the certificates when you browse through them. I have purchased a lot of these and most have been very good deals, the restaurants not too bad. I recently purchased several (Washington D.C. area) for a trip we are taking next month. All were purchased half off (some as little as $1.50) Only once had a bad experience with one I'd purchased (Palm Beach), the restaurant had been sold, making the certificate worthless. Not bad considering I have bought many over the last few years. The are a good deal if you have no problem following "the rules" regarding their use, Enjoy!
  6. 7. I believe that it is probably the Terrace Hotel which is 2 1/2* and has these amenities: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center High-Speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby Business Center (I checked for packages and it looks like a match) Description: Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, just one block to the Cincinnati Convention Center and the Aronoff Center. 12 miles to the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport. All rooms offer high speed internet access for a fee, coffee maker, hair dryer, and full size iron/ ironing board. Also available is a fitness center with sauna, 24 hr. business center, same-day laundry service. Valet parking is available for 19.00 per night which includes in and out privileges. It was a Best Value, correct? It is going for $43 today
  8. Looks like it's the Peery (3 1/2 *) which has these amenities: Boutique Hotel, Restaurant(s), Fitness Center, Business Center Got this information by looking at the packages Peery Hotel - 110 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101 The elegantly renovated Peery Hotel is a historic landmark in Salt Lake City. Prominent European hotel architect, Mr. Charles B. Onderdonk, designed the Peery Hotel in the early 1900's, during the mining boom. The restored grace of the Peery Hotel awaits travelers today Review from Hotel section: Customer: Kevin A. from Farmington, Utah The hotel was walking distance to many downtown attractions. We enjoyed the European flair and warm antique feel of the room. Everything looked very clean and inviting.
  9. Their website show rates of $169 for those dates and rooms with 2 doubles are available, but with Priceline of course the number of beds or smoking choice are not guaranteed. I suggest calling the hotel (directly) within the next few days and mention you have a "pre-paid reservation" (don't say Priceline) and make a request for a room with two doubles, non-smoking (I presume) Take note of name of person you talk to perhaps call again to check on your reservation before your trip. I've never had my request for the room type I wanted turned down and always gotten two beds if I requested them (not always in advance, but that's the way to go) Good Luck! P.S. From their website it looks like a nice hotel, has free wireless Internet access and free daily wine reception as well. Rooms look really nice from the photo gallery they have.
  10. Your first bid was at 4* and then you added the 3*, correct? Since the BOUTIQUE level is between the two other levels, Priceline can upgrade you to that level. You should have left your bid at a 4* level and bid your free rebid zones while increasing your bid. Also, you should have started your bid lower (probably at $60 -$65) and then added the free rebids and increased bids $5 each time. I recently stayed in San Francisco at the Hilton (USW) from April 24 - 28, my winning bid was $75 (check recent winning bids to get an idea of what bidders are winning with) Heres a link you should read regarding bidding (from our moderator): PRICELINE RE-BIDDING EXPLAINED I think you are stuck with the BOUTIQUE because you were bidding (with the second bid) 3* or better. It's important to really understand the bidding strategies you can use to get a great room at a decent price and to fully understand the rebidding process (and free rebids)
  11. Saamby, I recently stayed in San Francisco (April 24 - 28) at the Hilton in USW. It's a great location my review is at: San Francisco Hilton Review I got it for a Priceline bid of $75, but you are down to the wire on this one. Hilton's website shows $189 per night, Travelocity is $197 and it looks like HOTWIRE has it for $115 (customer favorite) Have a great time in S.F, it's a great place to visit - lot's to see!
  12. Dates of stay - April 24 to April 28, 2005 This is my last night here, thought I'd put in my review now while I'm still here. I arrived late Sunday night and was given room in Tower 3, I didn't feel the need to upgrade or ask for Tower 2 (I was tired and ready to crash) The room I got (14th floor) was non-smoking as I requested and had a king bed. It was close to the elevator, but around the corner and a few doors down (was quiet) The room had a nice size flat screen television and a mini bar, which I never used. Other than the room needing some new carpet, everything else in it was just fine. High speed Internet access was great ($9.95 a day), and I was able to VPN into work and keep in touch with what was going on (after all I am on a business trip!) The walk to the Moscone West where the Veritas Vision conference was held, was very managable. Location was great, very close to everything I needed, including public transportation. I wonder why some give this hotel bad reviews, it worked out great for me and at $75 a night I consider it a really good deal. I would stay here again, for the right price of course.
  13. Yes, it does look like the Southwest zone has shifted to the west some, now the MSP-MOA zone has 4-star selection shown (most likely Hotel Sofitel)
  14. Indeed it is! Courtyard By Marriott North Olmsted Cleveland Airport Vicinity 24901 Country Club Blvd North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 440-716-9977
  15. Your Offer Price: $37.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $37.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.01 Total Charges: $50.01 1) Bid 2 1/2* Cleveland Airport South $25 (No free rebid zones available) 2) Elyria $27 3) Independence - Beachwood $30 4) Cleveland Airport Vicinity $33 5) Westlake $35 6) Cleveland Heights $36 (3* and 2* only in this zone) 7) Downtown Cleveland $37 accepted My maximum bid was to be $35 (then I would start a new lower bid for 2*) but I decided to add a few more dollars to the bidding and last bid was accepted at $37. I had been previously bidding for 3* rejected (up to $40) 3 free rebid zones, I did not use as many zones as above. This property goes for $149 on other sites I checked, including through Courtyard, it turned out to be a real bargain and in a location I desired. The Great Northern Mall is located right across the street and I-480 is close by (also close to I-80 which we will be traveling on) There is free high speed (wired) Internet access in the rooms and hotel has a pool.
  16. This is cut and pasted from Hotwire (for those dates) West Minneapolis (Western Suburbs) - See map 2 1/2 * Selected amenities include: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool(s), Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service). View complete amenity list and description Best Value! $46 per room per night This was pasted from the package request for those dates (amenities match above) Springhill Suites Minneapolis/St L Includes: 2 roundtrip tickets and 1 room for 8 nights. 2 1/2* $... per person All taxes and fees included Hotel features: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool(s), Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service)
  17. It could be the Springhill Suites Minneapolis/St. Louis Park Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry The address is: 5901 Wayzata Blvd St. Louis Park, MN 55416
  18. Hotel was nothing fancy, typical for this type of property. The room was requested was honored without a problem (2 beds, no smoking) Had a nice stay, location was fine. Hotel has high-speed wireless Internet at $3.99 (for entire stay), but I didn't use it. I could detect signal from hotel across the street, which had free Internet access (obviously not secured) Would stay at this property again if all I needed was a good room for the night or if needing one for a longer stay (and not needing other amenities, i.e a pool)
  19. This will be a stopover for us on the way from Minnesota to Washington, D.C (By way of Harrisburg, PA) Your Offer Price: $30.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $30.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.52 Total Charges: $41.52 1)2* Holland-Maumee bid $23 2)added Perrysburg-Northwood $25 Started new bid 1) 2 1/2* Holland-Maumee bid $25 2) added Perrysburg-Northwood bid $27 3) added 2* bid $28 (no counterbid offers either time) 4) added Toledo Downtown bid $30 bid accepted Have seen good reviews of this property, should be worth the money.
  20. Kojackny, I am also staying at the Hilton from April 24 - 28, what conference are you attending? I'm attending the Veritas Vision conference at Moscone West. I made my bid almost a month ago, got the Hilton for $75 a night. Before that I had been checking out the rates for the Marriot (through Veritas), they were about $129 a night (when I checked a month ago), but all four nights were not available. So I decided to go through Priceline for a room - glad I did! I see the Marriot is SOLD OUT and they are offering the Argent, not sure of the rates though (you have to call the Argent to book)
  21. I'm going to be staying at the Hilton April 24 - 28 and am really looking forward to the stay (I'm attending the Veritas Vision Conference at Moscone) I got this bid for $75, which I thought was great for this property. Glad you had a great stay and thanks for the review, very helpful!
  22. Your Offer Price: $46.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.83 Total Charges: $58.83 Have been trying for a few weeks to get the Hotel Sofitel (Mpls. SW), but no luck ($60 max bid) Decided to try for a 3* in Eagan, with 2 re-bids available (today it shows 3) Bid $30 rejected added Burnsville bid $32 rejected Added Maplewood bid $35 rejected (Willing to take 2 1/2* at $35 - $40 if max bid of $45 for 3* is rejected) Closed browser, started bidding again with Eagan at $40 rejected Added Burnsville bid $42 rejected Added Maplewood bid $45 rejected (no counter offers at all) Decided to add Airport/MOA zone (This area would be okay too, going to MOA anyway and Minnesota Zoo on Mother's Day) Bid $46 (upped my limit by $1) Bid Accepted, won the Airport Hilton (which will do fine) Seems to be in line with other bids I've seen for this property. We are from Red Wing, MN - that weekend is a birthday/Mother's Day celebration for the wife and I was looking to stay somewhere nice. We have a seven year old son who is looking forward to the zoo visit!
  23. Have you ever noticed when you are bidding how the "Median retail price" statement shows up next to your bid price as you work through your various bids? I was bidding on Mpls Southwest 4*(trying to get Hotel Sofitel) and used all rebid zones with 3* only Why do you think it shows different rates at certain bid levels and not the same at each? Strange :) Median retail price for a 4 star hotel in Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN: $88 (bid was $45 - $53) Median retail price for a 4 star hotel in Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN: $103 (bid was $45) Median retail price for a 4 star hotel in Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN: $108 (bid was under $45) Median retail price for a 4 star hotel in Minneapolis - St. Paul, MN: $139 (bid was $54)
  24. Bidding on a second night in the Harrisburg area, I will try and get a 3* star (if possible), limit is $50 Otherwise, will take nothing less than a 2* (limit $35) Hoping to get the Crown Plaza in Harrisburg, from posts that appears to be a hotel many win with bids, at a decent rate. The bidding: Bid for one night only (June 14th) 3 re-bids available (no *3 star) Selected Harrisburg *4 Bid $30 - rejected Added Harrisburg - Hershey bid $35 - rejected Added Carlisle bid $40 - rejected Added Harrisburg West bid $50 - rejected (Was willing to take *3 in this area) Selected 2 1/2* lowered bid to $40 - rejected Added York bid $45 - rejected Selected 2* bid $35 (any location fine) After about a 5 minute wait (went to the screen that says check status of request in 15 minutes) the bid was accepted and I won the Hampton Inn in Carlisle again, which mean two consecutive nights at the same hotel (same price) No problems with this. Getting a 3* for these days was impossible (without overpaying) I know the Crown Plaza is available at Hotwire ($63), but I like to spend less with Priceline. Check out this review: REIVEW
  25. Your Offer Price: $40.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.93 Total Charges: $51.93 Preference was to something in the Rochester South area (closer to the Interstate) this area only has *2 and *1 available, but that's fine with me, doesn't have to be fancy Bid 2* Rochester South - $25 rejected Added Rochester bid $27 rejected Added 3* to Rochester bid $30 rejected Added 4* to Rochester bid $35 rejected Added Rochester North bid $40 accepted Think I overbid, as this hotel goes for $51 on Travelocity and $59 from hotel website, but wanted to make sure I got a room somewhere in Rochester that night (didn't want to settle for a 1* though)
