  1. Just tried to book the Hilton for the same dates on the web and the list price has doubled from the time you bid. I also tried a $73 PL bid, but no luck now. I'll increase and let you know if I'm successful!
  2. By single bed you mean 1 bed, correct? I've never had a PRICELINE room with a "single" bed (i.e. twin size).
  3. Priceline listed the 5* hotel in the Seocho-Gu-Gangnam-Gu area as their "best deal"for bidding. Tried $101/night (they listed retail price as $196) and failed in the bid. Dropped to 4* in all areas for $81/night and no luck yet. Will keep trying and keep you posted! I've got the Hilton Grand Hotel booked through Hilton at $160/night as a back up if I can't get anything much less through Priceline.
  4. We recently stayed in MTE/GC and were very pleased. A nice area, even later in the evening, and close by via cheap cab rides to most of Manhatten.
  5. If you can move to Central, we were successful on a 5* bid at $111 for the Kraznapolski.
  6. Are you looking at Hotwire? Priceline doesn't have 4 1/2 * although the Monteleone was one we got on a Priceline bid at 4*. Not thrilled with many of the French Quarter Hotels as the Arts district has some pretty cool hotels to check out, cheaper for sure and close by walking distance to the Quarter.
  7. I'd agree with the foregoing comments. We recently stayed in Midtown East at the Hilton Doubletree. With cabs only about $5-$6 to the theater district, our $159/night room was more than adequate and a nice area of town. The Waldorf Astoria also had rooms in the $275+/night range in the same area. Times Square can be so crowded afternoon and evening you can hardly walk around easily, but that may be a plus for some, a minus for others. Good luck on your search!
  8. I didn't intend to mention 3*, I usually reserve Priceline bids for 4* and 5*. I am will to pay more for a 5* but under either scenario I'd like to keep either bid under $100/night. I can reserve a Hilton in Seoul for $150/night, and with the upgrades and extras I get for being a Diamond HH member (like free drinks at night), I want to save at least $50/night. I haven't seen anyone post a winning bid for Seoul recently, that's why I thought I'd tap your expertise. Thanks!
  9. Let me know what you final bid was that was successful. I'm trying to win on priceline for a 3 night stay at the end of September. Thanks!
  10. Any suggestions for bidding strategies if I limit it to the 4* and 5* star properties? I've bid $98/night for the 5* and 78 for the 4*. Thanks!
  11. Will do! Why do you need to close the browser each time? Does PRICELINE not credit the referral after the first bid? I wasn't aware of that. Glad to do it, I just didn't know it worked that way. Thanks!
  12. Yes, I have just confirmed dates. Arriving Seoul on September 30th departing October 3rd. My goal is the least expensive 4* or 5* hotel and since I'm just visiting for 3 days, the zones aren't as critical. I'd like to keep the bid under $100 if that's doable. Thanks for your help!
  13. We also received a smaller, "lower class" room when checking in through Priceline (we won with a bid of $111/night). Despite the small room and lack of amenities, the location is absolutely fabulous and we'd definitely stay there again. You can roam until you're tired and get back and forth to the hotel without any problem. Lots of places to eat and drink in the area just beyond the Dam.
  14. Priceline bid of $73 for June 16, 2010. Nice hotel, but parking was extra! We had 2 cars and were only charged for one, so not a bad deal all in all. Easy access to SFO and I've been successfull with this price and lower when staying before leaving early AM.
  15. Stayed here in late January with a $33 Priceline bid. Not horrible for this type of hotel, but there were only TEN parking spaces out back. Don't come back late (or you bettter get up early to plug the meters). Once I parked, I walked, even though this hotel is on the outskirts of the downtown area.
  16. Stayed here in May 2010 with my nephew. Some upgraded rooms since I had stayed there a few years ago, but our room (alleged lake view) was at least the length of a full pitch away from check-in! The "view" was of an old cabin that you might be able to see through to Lake Hood. If you don't have a car, this isn't the place to stay as the shuttle was very inconsistent to downtown and nothing in the area to do.
  17. We've stayed in New Orleans numerous times and for Priceline, your best best is to stay just outside the French quarter. the hotels we've been successful on in the FQ are generally a bit more rundown and in areas where you might be subject to late night boisterous behaviour when you're trying to sleep (unless you're the ones staying up late). Try Downtown New orleans. It's just across Canal and an easy walk. For more funky and friendlier hotels (just a short few blocks of extra walk) try Convention Center Arts District. Great, quiet location and good Priceline hotels when we've bid. good luck!
  18. Looking for suggestions on bidding for the 5* and 4* hotels in Seoul for late September/early October 2010. Looks like only 3 hotels have snagged bids at this level and wondered if anyone had additional thoughts on prices/locations! Has anyone bid for Seoul hotels in late September/early October? Looking at a 3 day stay and wondered what prices were a good bid on PRICELINE!
