  1. Priceline guarantees only bedding for 2 persons, so you can get stuck with 1 bed per room. Hotwire does allow you to bid for up to 4 persons per room (generally) but that could come with a number of bedding type configurations. The moderators are excellent with their advice so look for their comments, however, I wanted to comment first on the general gist of your inquiry. Good luck.
  2. Listed at US $75/night. Ammenities include: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Can't find a precise match on the BB list of Hotwire hotels ID'd for this area at this star level. ALL searches and bidding done through BB PRICELINE links above or on support page.
  3. That sounds like a great hotel. We usually stay with friends for a couple of days outside FRA, but thereafter they appreciate it if we get out and about! Thanks for the information.
  4. This web site has a listing of all hotels previously won by members with the associated star rating and location (both HW and PL). Check it out by linking through the hotel site reviews to Hotels-Hotwire. There is a listing that provides the feedback from members. Because these ammenities seem pretty consistent, it's hard to identify for sure (although the moderators are excellent at helping you pinpoint the most likely hotels). Both the Hilton , Omni, Hyatt Regency and Le Meridien show similar ammenities and are all 4* in this area of San Fran. Good luck!
  5. Yes, you can extend either before or after for the same number of days that your original reservation was for (e.g. if you booked 2 days, then you can "extend," if offered, for 2 days before or after your accepted stay. PL does add a separate fee for the new reservation, just as if you were starting from scratch in terms of fees and taxes.
  6. Sounds good. I did see the different icons for ammenities and will try your trick with the 3 person room.
  7. The listed ammenities on the hotel list on BB are different for the Hilton and Westin (if I'm looking at the right location in Frankfurt - Innenstadt?). We're looking at an April 2012 trip. What ammenities show for each hotel?
  8. Will do, thanks! and I ALWAYS use the links on the site for all of my bidding (and wins when they occur!)
  9. I've been bidding Istanbul for Janaury 19-23, 2012. I would like to know how you get the bonus dollars off for a hotel purchase?
  10. I've had nothing but great results on about 8 separate bookings in the past year. I've read others with problems, but they seem to be the typical issues that arise wherever you book on the web. I was particularly pleased because we booked hotels in Paris and Venice last summer and got great rates for the specific areas we wanted to be, and had zero issues on check-in and were treated well, despite the fact we had saved over US$100/night on best price I could find for the hotels. I have noticed that some of the LMT "deals" are actually close in price to the rack rate on the hotels own web site. I am taking a trip to Napa/Sonoma with my wife in February 2012, and booked the Hilton Santa Rosa through the Hilton web site for $107/night, no prepayment. The LMT site recently had the opaque price for the exact hotel at $110/night. Deals seem to be hit or miss, but when you hit, what a great deal! I also statyed at the Hilton O'Hare last Thursday, right on the airport property. Rack rate on the web site was $299/night. LMT had the exact room for $74, and I was upgraded because I am a Diamond VIP in the HiltonHHonors programn. Good luck!
  11. What a great deal! I love when your elite status is actually recognized on a PL bid. I'm about 50/50 of having the hotels (HiltonHHonors) recognize my Diamond status and provide all amenities when having booked a PL deal.
  12. You have to click on this specific link: http://www.touricoholidays.com/en/PageHote...ocalTgsProvider It opens to the Indian Creek hotel in Miami (the url will contain the hotel ID 5256) and you are set to go from there. Just paste the opaque hotel ID from the LMT site in place of 5256 and hit enter. The opaque hotel will pop up on Turico and you'll know specifically which hotel you are bidding on in the LMT web site. Good luck!
  13. No, it just included the Santa Rosa area, but you are right, the "Limited hot Rate" is now gone. Probably was the Fountaingrove because in my opinion (having stayed at both hotels) the Hilton is a far higher star quality rating that Fountaingrove (which is still a fine 3* hotel).
  14. Summarizes BEAV's protocol succinctly. I hadn't known about the map trick and look forward to using that too!
  15. Are you comparing the hotel ID to the Turico web site referenced in BEAV's initial post?
  16. Hotwire has a new type of listing (at least to me) where they are offering a "Limited hot Rate" for a 3 1/2 * hotel in Santa Rosa, CA which doesn't disclose any of the ammenities. The only 3 1/2* hotel listed on the Hotwire list of hotels on the BB site is the Hilton Sonoma Round Tree Barn. At $60/night that's at least a 50% discount and would be a great bargain. The Fountaingrove down the hill is listed as a 4* in the BB Hotwire Hotel Listings, but I'd rather pay more and get the 3 1/2* Hilton than get the 4* Fountaingrove. Any thoughts on identifying what hotel this "Limited hot Rate" might be? Thanks for all of your help and as always, all my bids AND bookings are made through the BB site.
  17. Priceline lists the zones on the left when you hit Chicago. They change sometimes, but Midway and Franklin Park have no 4* hotels the last time I checked. Others might be available, just click out of PL, then back in through the BB link to the top right and you can individually select each zone to see how high the star ratings go.
  18. Priceline bids are totally opaque. You bid a zone and star rating and you've booked yourself a hotel if the "price is right." What Thereuare was saying regarding Hotwire is that you can research star level compared to the ammenities listed on the Hotwire "opaque" hotel offer and come up with a very educated guess as to the specific hotel you'd be bidding on. In that way, you'd be able to be more comfortable with the specific hotel you would receive prior to actually purchasing it. No guarantees, of course, but the moderators are awfully good at what they do and have a high likelihood of pinpointing the exact hotel you'd be bidding on through Hotwire. BTW - I do agree that I prefer PL over HW, but in this instance you may be better off with the HW bidding scheme.
  19. Lastminutetravel.com has an "On Request" hotel for $82/night that is the Springhill Suites in the warehouse district. Not too far away from the French Quarter. LMT usually confirms within 24 hours. Total with taxes and fees for the 3 nights you're traveling is $290.01. Hotel ID is 3144. You can confirm you've requested that specific hotel when you look at the web address after clicking on the "book it" tab and before paying. Hope this helps a bit.
  20. The moderators will be able to help with your bidding strategy, but I wanted to comment on waiting for rates to change. There's no guarantee that waiting will either result in higher or lower fares. Depends on inventory, etc., but as soon as your dates are confirmed, start bidding as will be suggested by the moderators. Not sure about what might be going on for your weekend, but Sundays are usually cheaper as the weekenders are gone and the business week is not yet in full swing. Splitting your bids may be able to save you money. The PL Calendar of wins at the top of this page shows a win for the 3* New Orleans (French Quarter) Holiday Inn Chateau Le Moyne for $51 ... 10/23/11-10/25/11 (which includes your Sunday). I bid through this web site on a Priceline hotel in August in New Orleans (awfully hot and muggy) and got the JW Marriott for $60! Great location on Canal and super accommodations, especially for the price. August has historically been a slower month (and cheaper hotel rates). Good luck!
  21. Too bad. It's always a shame when you think you've got Hotwire figured out and they switch hotels on you.
  22. I have stayed at the Hilton Homewood Suites on Pike Street. Parking was $25/day. I was allowed to use the fitness room without charge, but the wireless internet in the room was $9.99/day. Not sure what others have experienced at hotels in the area, but parking will almost surely be an additional charge to any Hotwire win.
  23. Still looking at hotels and prices still seem to vary widely. I booked my flight on Delta from DTW thru JFK with non-stop from JFK to IST for just over $700 total< so hotel rates may be able to be increased a bit. I'll keep you posted as I bid and get the hotel, as the trip is on!
