  1. thanks for the information i'll let you know where we end up
  2. thanks thereuare the omni does look very nice - we will be making our bookings (all being well this evening) fingers crossed that it is as you suspect - it looks just the job just for information - what would you expect that i'd have to pay for the renaissance or marriott at seaworld - both resorts (would this be a priceline gamble - and are there any rogue resort hotels in this area? - if there are i'd get it!!)) thanks again
  3. sorry thereuare the zone was Disney main gate/Champions gate - today i see one with the same icons but the price is a little more $133 (but no reference to how much you are saving) There is also a 3.5 * at seaworld - $111 (customer favourite) restaurant, pool, fitness, business, laundry - could this be the crowne plaza?
  4. sorry - having a dizzy moment - forgetting to say where we would like to stay we aren't too fussy really - i don't think we'll do the parks again - we just want some sun and the chance to catch up on the seriously good florida shopping we have stayed in WDW (Disney Dixie Landings), LBV (that was the wyndham palace - i think this was the area) also the Hyatt here (that was nice) we have stayed at the Renaissance (International drive /Seaworld area) - and this would be my preference i really want a nice hotel- with a nice pool area - that doesn't add on loads of extras in the way of resort fees etc in an ideal world i would like the marriott at near Sea World but wouldn't know how to set about getting it i said 4* or better - but i know some of the hotels are resorts (is this risky with priceline?) i saw a hotwire 4* deal today at $129 (they say it saves $110 a night) - the facilities were resort, fitness, internet access, tennis, laundry, restaurant, spa, golf, business centre - is this the gaylord palms? (i spent ages looking at your hotel list earlier) - although this one does not have children icon the dates are april 1st to 6th thanks
  5. that is good news about the wyndham - it is/was certainly tired when we stayed there last summer i suppose around $120 for somewhere nice - we have cheapo rooms in hilton head at $75 with tax so can afford a bit more if we need to i don't know really - i've never been to florida i will act on advice from the experts i do appreciate your help
  6. i have been very unsuccessful with my attempts to get a hotel in boston (april 1st - 4th) and am now wondering about travelling south to florida (it will most likely be warmer) i have stayed at the renaissance at seaworld, the hyatt in WDW and the wyndham (WDW) and would like to avoid returning to the wyndham what sort of bid/strategy should i try for a 4* or better (probably resort) and miss the wyndham? i would like the dates april 1st to 6th but note that the gaylord palms is sold out on 4th - the renaissance is coming in at around $260 on the marriott site i tried hotwire and they did not offer any 4* options at all - i wonder if i will strike out in orlando too! any help or advice gratefully received
  7. tried the bidding strategy with the exception of the logan area bid as suggested but not a sausage - started bid at $55 and went up to $65 for copley, downtown and both together will try again in a few days - still early days (another 10 weeks before we travel) thanks for your help i will try your strategy again when i am able to :)
  8. thanks newbie - i'll give it a go later tonight - think my three days are up now
  9. hello yes I did try logan (where the hotels usually come up a lot cheaper) i suppose i'd be happy to pay up to $100 - as i saw on hotwire a 3.5* in copley for around $86 a few days ago - when i looked again it had gone - he who hesitates....... i'd prefer downtown and a 4* so will probably persevere with the priceline for a few more attempts - it is quite frustrating having to wait 3 days (i suppose i've been spoiled by paying a little more than is necessary and often getting my offers accepted reasonably quickly) i will try up to $100 for now and if necessary closer to the dates (we still have around 10 weeks) will consider the options i did look at the hyatt site and their logan hotel was even more than the downtown site thanks for your help
  10. i have tried to find a reasonably priced hotel in boston for three nights - april 1st to 4th i have tried priceline bidding on four star areas (with the exception of cambridge brookline and the trade centre) up to $78 in an ideal world i would like to stay at the hyatt regency downtown but note high prices for these dates on the hyatt site i bid a few days ago (then waited 72 hours to bid again) up to $55 tonight i started at $60 (downtown) 4* then added logan 4*, south boston (free bid) medford (free bid)and then copley4* - not a sausage we only want to shop so will spend a day at the outlet malls and the rest in and around boston - so where we stay isn't that important - but we would like a 4* i will pay what i have to but would prefer (obviously) the lowest i can get away with, :) as this is an add on to our south carolina beachy holiday what would you suggest?
  11. :) thanks thereuare for your help you were right - the 3.5* was the westin so cost is 6 x $69 = $414 taxes and fees = $116 total = $530 the westin website had the best rate at $179 + taxes = $1074 so a considerable saving there seemed to be little to choose between the hotels so we decided to give the westin a shot - the beds are usually good!! so thanks once again, i did use the savingsbarn.com link to book and when i decide what to do for the remainder of the trip, will do so again keep up the good work michele
  12. hello the time for dithering is over (ish) and i need to firm up our plans for our pre-easter break - we are looking to start our holiday in hilton head3/26 - 4/1 and then go on to charleston and maybe myrtle beach (i have real problems pinning my husband down!) and have found a 3.5 * and 4* on hotwire 3.5* customer favourite - facilties - resort, beach front, pool, spa, childrens facilties, tennis nearby, highspeed internet access, fitness centre, golf nearby and business centre , restaurants - $68 (a saving of$91) i am uncertain as to which hotel this might be because of the customer favourite thing 4* customer favourite - facilities - resort, oceanfront, restaurants, fitness centre, childrens activity, tennis nearby, laundry, pool, highspeed internet access, golf nearby and business centre - $99 (no reference to how much is being saved on hotwire) there seems little to chose from with the facilities as listed i looked on your hotwire hotel list and note that some hotels have changed star rating but couldn't find a 3.5* customer favourite i would appreciate any help you can give me michele
  13. igood n room coffee - i've never had comp breakfast in a decent hotel - now that would be nice........
  14. i have just booked this hotel through hotwire and when i checked tonight (It is evening in the UK) it was showing availability for the 17th at $76 is it worth considering this method of completing your booking :)
  15. hello again using your list of hotwire hotels for boston i booked 3.5* customer favourite - $66 night (QUINCY MARKET/FINANCIAL DISTRICT ) facilities - restaurant, swimming pool, business centre, internet connection, gym without your site i wouldn't have booked it - i last stayed there when it was a 4* so would not have thought that it was the same hotel (formerly swissotel) so cost for five nights = $66 x 5 = $330 taxes and fees $ 50.13 booking total = $380.13 according to hotwire this represents a 57% saving hyatt site is sooo expensive in comparison - a total of $969.00 ($149 x1 and $205 x 4 ) so thank you so much - this has made my day!!! :)
  16. the only hotwire hotel showing availability for our dates is 31/2 star - the amenies are - restaurant. pool, fitness, internet access. business centre, golf and tennis the cost for the dates of 3/26 - 3/30 is $143 per night the hotwire listed hotel at this rating is the hyatt regency savannah - the hyatt has rates of $199 for one night and thereafter $219 for the same period :)
  17. savannah/south carolina - 3/26-3/30 Westin i would appreciate advice on how to target this hotel.i read good reviews about this hotel and see that bidders have won this through hotwire, which zone would i have to bid in? would it be on the savannah page or the hilton head (SC)? i decided against the westin in hilton head but this one looks like a good property. :)
  18. it is a lot of money for a hotel - but it is a very nice one, very well located - we loved it!
  19. yes it is - but soon to be refurbished and become planet hollywood - so who knows what star rating it will be then we had two queens and a partial view of the bellagio fountains
  20. i made a booking for two rooms X eight nights through priceline at $70 a room per night (july 22nd to 30th) the hotel was clearly not full but we were unable to have adjoining rooms but had rooms on the same corridor - the downside of this is that the corridors are external - we were on the first floor - this does not make me feel particularly secure the rooms were the standard rooms (priceline) two double beds but they would upgrade to a king room if we paid extra $$ they also have one bed villas which we could have upgraded to for $240 a night - a ridiculous suggestion as we had already paid $140 - we looked at the rooms anyway and decided that they REALLY weren't worth any additional expense the rooms were a good size but the airconditioning is inadequate for the rooms - never cools down the far end of the room, it is also a VERY noisy method of cooling the rooms - very loud, and extremely obtrusive when you are trying to sleep we asked for a fridge for my son's medication but was told to empty the minibar instead the room would have been okay had the air con not been so noisy but the resort itself left a great deal to be desired the pool area is small with a few brollies and some sunbeds - the hotel was not nearly full when we were there but on one of the three times we went to the pool we were unable to get beds for the four of us the hotel just seemed a little 'tired' - it was generally clean but not very inspiring, i checked out five days early and booked back in to the marriott desert springs (at additional cost) so that i could at least sleep at night it has made me cautious of bidding for a resort in scottsdale with priceline incase i should get this place again by the way, they made HEAVY WEATHER of saying that my booking was with priceline, and if i wanted to change my two rooms for a bigger one to ask priceline! (now we all know where that would get me) of all the priceline hotels i stayed with this summer - and there were six - this was the only one that mentioned pl when giving me a poor room - i was not eligible for a remodelled room as i had only paid for a standard (remember - the hotel was almost empty) the other hotels i stayed at gave us what we requested - adjoining rooms (if available), a fridge, an upgrade in one - no priceline prejudice there they also charge $12 a day - per room - resort fee - so they wanted to charge me an additional $24 a day - not to get any sleep (i got them to take the fee off my kids room) - for this fee you get parking, newspaper and a safe (mine was broken) i could not in all honesty recommend this hotel - just not up to scratch :)
  21. decided to have one more night in vegas and couldn't get the venetian for under $200 - so found computer and used priceline - couldn't afford errors so went for a relatively high $59 (hotel site was around $79) so with taxes and fees ended up paying $72+ a small saving but an okay hotel - for one night
  22. just made one bid of $20 a day for premium car with priceline accepted so - costs are - $280 + $183.88 so a total of $463.88 around $80 less than direct with alamo (website) - so coupled with the insurance savings made using insurance4carhire.com - a good deal has been had thanks
  23. i have just booked one night july 30th to 31st at phoenix airport - just made one offer after looking at your site (i go on holiday tomorrow so couldn't afford to have to rebid - and it is for just one room for one night) - anyway came back straight away with confirmation so $35 + taxes and fees = $47.68 the radisson site has a special at $69 + taxes and fees - so i got it for around half price - can't be bad (by the way - i booked through your link to US priceline with no problems at all!)
  24. thank you - once again - for the brilliant information and advice that is given so freely on this site i have purchased the annual worldwide insurance through insurance4carhire.com at the cost of around $200 - this i will be able to use for two weeks this summer, for a week in october and for two weeks in the spring - the daily cost for cdw and sli is around $35 so this policy has paid for itself with just one weeks car hire - i would never have known about it if it wasn't for betterbidding - so once again thank you :)
  25. thanks all for your help the crowne plaza site has it at over $200 for my dates - so the westin at $99 looks a good deal (although both hotels have mixed reviews) ho hum ....
