  1. I meant I reported the * change you notified us about with your 1st post. So you want a bidding strategy for the Daytona Beach area?
  2. I reported the change in the long thread about no more 3* unfortunately Ocala isn't exactly a tourist town, (I live in Gainesville which is about 30 miles north of Ocala) so your choices are limited to motels, 1*, 2*...........so even bidding for a 2* you might have to spend quite a bit if anything you'd save $$$ by staying in Orlando, you could snag a 3* for under $50 most likely and just drive later to the museum
  3. Priceline is supposed to be for double occupancy, if you have more than 2 people you can see what the hotel can do about 2 beds instead of 1, or if there's a fold-out couch, or get a rollaway, etc. several people get priceline rooms for 4 people and never have a problem, but techincally they don't have to accomodate you if it's more than 2 people, but most hotels are pretty friendly about this, but we make sure people are aware of the rules before they bid hotwire offers quad occupancy
  4. well, even if it's not an all-suite hotel, as long as you're bidding on a suite for your own personal reservation it really doesn't matter if you're getting the only suite in the hotel!
  5. if you were referring to my post.....sorry if I didn't explain what I meant.........the going rate is $239 like I said already and that's rather on the expensive side for a 3* property.....typically we see people get the Hilton for well under $55 on priceline but that's when the going rate is less than $100...........usually a higher price indicates lower availability, so you could most likely still snag the hilton but you would have to venture into $60,$70, maybe $80 territory I've stayed at the Hilton before and it's nothing to write home about, so I wouldn't be worried about not getting it..........have a good trip thanks for reporting your win to the board
  6. most likely because the going rate is $239 for that night at the Hilton
  7. wow I'm impressed....that's actually pretty good for hotwire!
  8. according to the lists... Tampa (Busch Gardens) 3* Holdiday Inn Busch Gardens Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Laundr it's the only hotel we have in our lists for this area so suite doesn't make sense.......but it doesn't make sense that we're talking about a hotel with suites......and only a pool!!!! sounds like all the amenities aren't being listed......I hate when this happens on hotwire I've never stayed at the Holiday Inn but tripadvisor gives it awful reviews but with those amenities, it's anybody's guess!!!
  9. exactly....lol but it might be hard to count on these things......it seemed like cruises, etc. all over the place........you'll have to hope they put up an offer that'll be good for your particular situation
  10. I saw runNgun has already taken advantage of this in Orlando for the weekend it actually looks like good deals for both opaque and known hotels.....kind of interesting........hopefully something will come up that will be useful for me in the future!
  11. RLD you can still keep trying but given these 2 wins at the Hyatt for similar prices on similar dates, if you'd be willing to bid up to $145 or $150 you'll most likely snag the Hyatt but that might be a lot more $$$ then you originally planned to spend, but it might alleviate your fears sooner rather than later, it's up to you
  12. RLD somebody got the Hyatt for 1/25--1/28 for $145 there's no set timing for a hotel releasing rooms, sometimes you get lucky and can get your priceline reservation 1 year in advance and other times it might take until the last minute! you really still have plenty of time to try before giving up
  13. ^ didn't she fall off the face of the eartH?
  14. on availability......sometimes a hotel may say it's sold-out but priceline will still have access to inventory it's sold out today, it may have 50 vacancies in a week.....things change just keep trying, you still have half of december and most of january to try I think we'll all be interested to see when you finally get your winning bid since this thread has been going on for quite a while............guess you missed my post about the add-a-nite
  15. I like a hot tub, once even had one just outside of hotel room in patio area.... after being in for quite a while I started to get that feeling of nausea and felt dizzy......I looked it up and it said that this can happen if you stay in it too long because it heats up your internal temperature and you literally don't feel like getting out......and that people can actually die from this (just thought that was interesting!) isn't it kind of ironic that sometimes in the most expensive hotels the rooms aren't much bigger if at all then a cheap hotel room? (unless it's a suite)
  16. even if in-room coffee is good you won't have real cream for it just the powered stuff! :) I've had one or 2 complimentary breakfasts at 1* and 2.5* hotels and they were complete jokes, I want a complimentary breakfast at a 3* or 4* with a real restaurant like the person above just said! that would be awesome!
  17. RLD, you're not doing anything wrong.....even when people get hotels in the wrong zone<<<<some don't really consider that a mistake even! you just haven't gotten priceline's discount for your whole trip yet, it's not like you don't know how to make a hotel reservation or something I frankly wasn't aware of this add-a-nite option Seems like a lot of rules to satisfy, don't see people post about using this but I know it works sometimes......in your case if you secured the Gaylord for the rest of your trip all the way back on the date of your 1st post....November 12....then that's 29 days ago, so you have less than 24 hours to TRY with the "add-a-nite" option if I'm correct!
  18. seems like 3* priceline and up always have all the amenities I could ever imagine needing! if it's 3* hotwire.....then you might be sorely disappointed!
  19. RLD a friend of mine just got the Gaylord Palms (WDW ZONE) for 1/26-1/28 for $95
  20. good job!!! watch out for valet parking (mandatory) which is quite expensive!
  21. No butts: Westin hotels smoke-free In 2006, company will end indoor smoking at 77 of its hotels in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. December 5, 2005: 11:15 AM EST NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Westin Hotels & Resorts announced that it was becoming smoke-free at 77 hotels in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, beginning in January 2006. As part of the change, the company will deep-clean 2,400 rooms that were formerly designated for smokers. Westin said that 92 percent of its guests request a non-smoking room when travelling and do not smoke in the hotel. The company will still permit smoking in designated outdoor smoking areas at the hotels. Westin has a total of 121 hotels and resorts in 31 countries and territories worldwide.
  22. if you just look at winning bids in general most people tend to win with a month or just a couple weeks until their trip..........sure sometimes people can win a bid for the next year but the majority of bids that are successful tend to be a month or less away and orlando has so many freakin' hotels you won't have a problem getting a room if you have the $$$ even if it's not priceline
