  1. Angela, we stay in that area often. If you do a 3* PRICELINE bid, more than likely you will get Courtyard by Marriott for 35.00. (sometimes you get Hyatt Place, which we like better but Courtyard has been getting most of the 3* bids in the area). This Courtyard is in a bit of an odd place but highways are easy reach and down one of the near by roads is a bunch of brand name stores. This Courtyard does not have breakfast included but there is a Coney Island in the strip mall right in front of the property that has many wonderful breakfast options and is kid friendly. Paying only 35.00 a night for this clean hotel will help pay for breakfast. :) Enjoy your weekend, hope you find something you are happy with. Cheryl
  2. Hyatt Place Properties are one of our favorites!!! Congrads on this win and thanks for reporting it!
  3. Baymont Inn and Suites also has breakfast, fitness, pool and internet. These both are near Tangers Outlet. Cheryl
  4. Kinda late to offer, but I know the area so if you have any questions, just ask!
  5. We stay in this area often so I'm happy to see a win on this hotel. The first Residence Inn we stayed in was this summer down near Mishawaka and it was fabulous! (also a priceline win) Once again, thanks for posting, Cheryl
  6. Auburn Hills - Pontiac 3555 Centerpoint Parkway Pontiac, Michigan 48341 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $35.00 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.62 Total Charges*: $85.62 I do like Hyatt Place much much better. But good price and going to see family so I am happy. Cheryl PS Used PRICELINE link provided by BetterBidding.
  7. Back..... I tried to keep what was going on off board till it was over,,, but have to jump in and ask you guys that know the area if this is a possiblity. The girls are now going with Two rooms. They will do the New Jersey side as there is no way to afford NYC. The dates are 10/30 check in, 11/2 check out. That is 3 nights, Fri, Sat and Sunday. They found Ramada Limited Jersey City 65 Tonnelle Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07306 for 108.00 a night and have a cancelable reservation. Is this a good location?? They are driving there from Michigan. My eyes are a blur from trying to find other possiblities. I"m thinking now that they are going with 2 rooms, that maybe priceline is an option. But as we already know,, it is busy weekend because of the race. Thoughts on priceline? I did not see much on hotwire but I'm not good at knowing the areas and they list so many. I know you are so busy with so many messages on the board here,,so if you can't help out,, I completely understand. You already have helped out with your advice you gave before. Thanks, cheryl
  8. Forget any reference to LGA area. Not going to do the LGA as any option as I read one of Thereuare's post about it not being an area to get around at night. I"m sure they would be coming back on the 'bus/train' at night. What are your thoughts of doing priceline for 2 rooms? *2 in Jersey City, New Jersey, as Candlewood Suites has come up as a 45.00 winning bid. I know we are against the high room rates for that weekend. Would Candlewood be an easy access to get to PATH and such for going to city. Going to bed for the night, going on 2 A.M. Tomorrow is another day!
  9. Yes, Yes and yes.... my eyes are a blur. I have been working the keyboard for hours. I just don't know the areas very well. I think the Doubletree in Jersey is a possible at 169.00 a night via their web site. They say they are near the PATH. (train or bus? I"m not sure) anyway, if you guys could read this over and tell me if there is something else I could check into. Price is an issue as now their might be 3 going not 4 to split cost. here is what one of the gals they are meeting that lives in Brookelyn,, what she wrote: (and I already know manhattan is out, so skip checking that any more. No rooms or prices for kings and queens. thanks, cheryl ------------------------ I got some info from Dana. Below is the 'order' in which would be ideal to stay. She said for NJ or L Island, the biggest thing is to make sure we're by the train (the name of the stations are below). 1. brooklyn//manhattan if possible, try to get by F&G train in brooklyn 2. long island railroad/ New Jersey Path 3.LGA Fourth option
  10. Aaron, you came up with more in an hour than I was able to come up with all night. They do not need 4 stars and 3 or even 2.5 would work. I sent them the info... I told my daughter that their first choice weekend, is also Halloween. I have no clue if that plays in,,, but there are very few rooms open. She is going to check to see if Jersey would work,,, but I think since it is their first time, they really wanted to do the "city". Thanks for your help and such a quick reply,, Cheryl
  11. OK,, they (3-4 of them) are going to go the weekend of Oct 30th-Nov 1st or Oct 31-Nov 2nd, even knowing there is a marathon, IF they can get a room under 280.00. If not, they will go the following weekend. So, perfer Manhattan, could do Jersey City if needed. I'll start exploring. any suggestions are always appreciated. I don't mind doing the leg work but might need help I.D.ing as I"m not normally a HOTWIRE gal. :) Cheryl
  12. Thank you, and thank you too Aaron. I'll ask about moving weekends and also ask about doing the Jersey City area. (I'm feeling pretty good as from all my reading, that was the next thing I was going to check in with you about,, if the Jersey waterfront properties would be an option.) <G> There is so much that can be learned at better bidding board because of the information found by searching and reading older post. I'll get back with you as soon as I know what direction this takes. Have a great week, Cheryl
  13. See, I learn something every time I come to BB. I did not know that all those areas were part of Manhattan. :) So,, under 200.00...... 250.00 tops I would think, if at all possible. Trouble being that there are 4 girls, so only properties where they can get two beds. That is why I thought hotwire. Now that I know all those areas are Manhattan then I'll be able to search some more. They also mentioned if Manhattan was not with in reach, or they could save a lot, then Brooklyn might be an option. But I dont' know if that is a good option or not. None of the girls have been to NYC but all are level headed smart thinking gals. I know they could figure out how to get around once there. Thanks for help, Cheryl
  14. I need help, as my daughter and her friends, 4 of them (hence hotwire quad), ages, late 20's. are looking to take a trip to NYC October 29-Nov 1st or October 30th-Nov 2nd. I
  15. Auburn Hills - Pontiac 3555 Centerpoint Parkway Pontiac, Michigan 48341 I like the Hyatt Place better and have won that the last few bids for this area but we have stayed at this Courtyard and it is really nice also Used the PRICELINE link provided at Better Bidding. Cheryl
  16. I see the web rate per night is 279.00 so you did great. Was the 105.00 your first bid? We stay at the Sheraton in May and found the location was perfect for us. You will see on trip advisor that there is much said about the beds. If you like soft,, then you will be very happy. For us,, they were too soft and I ended up sleeping across the foot of the bed for some support on my back. We loved our room as it was a corner so had extra windows but if were going to stay 2 nights, I would have had to request a different room because of the bed. Enjoy your stay and thank you for posting your win. Cheryl
  17. Thank you for posting your win. Stayed there 2 nights ago and LOVED it! Friendly staff, great breakfast, clean room, comfy beds. No, I'm not doing a review, it just sounds like it. I just was happy to see some else won this property as Courtyard came up since then as a winning bid. We are going to go next weekend, and if we don't stay in the Dearborn or Livonia area, then I'm going to bid 3* Auburn Hills for 35.00 and hope to snag Hyatt Place as another win! If not, that is ok too, as we really like the surrounding area in Auburn Hills. So many places to eat and shop. Love priceline and love this board! Cheryl PS Everyone, please remember to use the links provided here at Better Bidding to connect to PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.
  18. We love Mirage and it actually is not that much farther than TI. (we have stayed at both) TI has the attached mall, which you could walk thru that has air and that gets you closer to Wynn entrance. So if you walk from the Mirage and then go into TI, that can work. Or if you want direct walk,, just cross the street when you leave the Mirage, and then walk to Wynn. We have even bought bus passes I think like 5.00 for unlimited use for 24hrs and traveled the stip. Mirage has cab service in the back of the hotel too and that is never crowded. I would think cab is reasonable. So there are a few choices if heat in Aug is a factor, or walking is an issue. Mirage is closer than Imperial and 100 % better. I would take Flamingo or Harrahs over Imperial as friends stayed there. Good luck with your stay and have fun. If you need any suggestions for afternoon shows,, email me here at better bidding and I'll get back to you. Here is a good map that gives you how close things are as the strip is on a slant. http://www.lasvegasmaps.com/stripmap.html
  19. Hmmm this property keeps changing from 2.5* to 3* We did stayed at this Courtyard back in May and found it to be perfect for our needs. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and the staff friendly. It is a bit further than some of the other hotel properties in the area but within short drive to everything. Hmmmm.... breakfast, we had a really good one, but I don't recall where it was at. I know it was not at Courtyard. If I think of it, I will post it. Cheryl PS,, one time at a different Courtyard, I asked if there was any specials or discounts for the breakfast the following morning, and the staff person on duty gave us one coupon to cover one of the breakfasts and said with a smile,, "hmmm I think it is buy one get one free day." O It is always easy to be nice to people when you check in and also when you ask for directions and such. I think that is what snagged us the coupon later.
  20. Thanks for everything that the moderators do at Better Bidding. I also appreciate all those that contribute their bidding results. Because of Better Bidding, I'm able to travel as much as I do. The Michigan Priceline list can be updated: The Hyatt Place is now a winning bid at 3* level.
  21. I"m very excited! Hyatt Place is one of my favorites. I just decided to take a stab for it as Livonia (Detroit Suburb) Hyatt place has been coming up as a winning bid at very low rate. Sure enough, so did the Auburn Hills location. Lowest web rate was 133.00 for this night. I think the prices in the area are up a some that night because Idol concert is playing at the Palace. And yes, I'm attending the concert. LOL Taking my mom as she is a fan. I hope we are not the only 'older' people there! Cheryl
  22. I have stayed at Baymonts before and above is what they have when you ask for a suite. But they also have what they call Business Rooms (expanded desk and few other perks) and they they have regular rooms with two double beds. So,, if that is acceptable,, just request 2 double beds ahead of time. One nice plus of this Baymont is they have a 24 hour pool. That is so rare nowdays. Have fun and and don't forget the casino is nearby and they have a pretty good buffet. Cheryl
  23. Thanks Yellowdog,, I had a great time with my daughter and this property exceeded our expectations. I would even stay in the area again if I knew this would be the winning bid. But my question. I always start my bids from Better bidding's boards using the hotwire or PRICELINE links. (with the exception of one time, then I made a paypal donation) So, am I missing something? or was that a standard reminder for future bids? thanks, cheryl
  24. I had a hard time getting a winning bid for this area. There is a Hyatt Place in the area, so I decided to try the 39.00 bid as I had won Hyatt Places before with that number. Rejected. Waited my 24hrs as there really is not a free re-bid area when using South Bend as bidding area. I then read that 2.5* for Courtyard had come up as a winning bid of 33.00. So I bid that and it was rejected. But now the 3* is no longer an option as you can move down in stars but not up unless you wait another 24 hours. (of which, I did not really want to do) So, closed window, logged on to same computer but with hubby's XP user account and picked Granger Indiana as my bidding area. (It is the same area priceline shows in their map for South Bend, Mishawaka and Granger). I bid 3* 53.00 as I saw someone had that for a winning bid earlier in the year. It was accepted without me having to wait the 24hrs. I do not know if they would have let me bid 3* Granger without opening an new window or not. Last year, Priceline locked me out unless I waited the 24hours. when I tried these three bidding areas saying they were the same location. Anyway, all set for going on a mini trip with my daughter, thanks to priceline and better bidding. Cheryl
