  1. 4* San Francisco (USE) Westin St Francis $105 ... 10/28/07-10/31/07 this above was my score and it did not come easy.....i was bidding for a month don't give in to the presure to over pay or drop to 3 star ....hang in there bro bid every day ..... and if I were you I would include USW this area is very close to USW same stuff! IMO do you know about free rebod zones and other key strategies?
  2. I stayed here recently - great Hotel, Congratulations on the win. Two things. When I stayed here they Pricelined me and stuck me in a sad little room overlooking a dumpster, I went downstairs talk to the front desk, it helps to be charming and they moved me to a magnificant room overlooking the whole city - it is wortha try to ask if you get pricelined. Second, I observed that the street it is on is kinda dark at night and i don't suggest strolling down it at midnight by one's self. But great spot close to everything. Hope this comment is useful to you.
  3. Going through the savings barn link! :-) I tried a combination of bids in USW and different days and then i added USE and bid up 90 and then 105 and got accepted. I am excited -it is a sweet dowtown location. The Westin St. Francis 335 Powell Street Sun, Oct 28, 2007 - Wed, Oct 31, 2007 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night:$105.00 Subtotal:$315.00 Taxes & Service Fees:$56.34 Total Charges*:$371.34 I guess the days of the $85 dollar hotrel rooms in this area are over! $105 IS STILL A GREAT DEAL!
  4. thank-you I get so spoiled by some of the wins i have had - you make a good point!
  5. Is boutique any good? I have never stayed in one - have you? These 3 are listed in USW Boutique Kensington Park Hotel Boutique Serrano Hotel REVIEW / tripadvisor review Boutique Warwick Regis
  6. I need two nights, I thought it would be a slam dunk! I have had bids up to $125 rejected - anyone got any idea what it would take to get two nights in San Francisco (USE or USW) accepted? Or an alternative zone whith nice 4 stars close to Union Square?
  7. 8. Fishermans Warf? San Mateo? Where did you ideally want to be and what zones were you bidding in?
  9. ya I tried to "add a night" thanks for the suggestion. It came back with a counter offer of $215 a night. Weekends are easy to get - the thursday night was tricky! Now I am at two hotels a miles apart! Not ideal but at least i have a great place to sleep.
  10. Hilton San Francisco Financial District 750 Kearny St. Mon, Sep 3 -Thu 6, Per :$85.00 Subtotal:$255.00 Taxes & Service:$46.09 Total :$301.09 Seems far from Market Street and the main areas. Is it a good price and a decent hotel? I wanted Union Square West but this will do! Should I be more excited? I have never stayed there before. Anyways!! i sent through SavingsBarn link and now I just need to win Monday 10th-121th!
  11. rushed to get this thursday night! (big mistake) and overpaid for the following (went through the SavingsBarn link) Sheraton SF Airport Thu, Sep 6, 2007 -Fri, Sep 7 Subtotal:$90.00 Taxes & Service Fees:$20.57 Total :$110.57 Thank-you to this great board for steering me wisely! Even when I go nuts like some beginner and pay $90!!!!!!!! FOR AN AIRPORT HOTEL!!!!
  12. Went through the SavingsBarn link ( of course!) and got Hyatt Regency SFC Airport Fri, Sep 7 -Sun, Sep 9 Per night :$60.00 Subtotal:$120.00 Taxes & Service Fees:$25.19 Total :$145.19 then rushed to get the thursday night! (big mistake) and overpaid for the following (going once again through the SavingsBarn link) Sheraton SF Airport 600 Airport Blvd Thu, Sep 6, 2007 -Fri, Sep 7 Subtotal:$90.00 Taxes & Service Fees:$20.57 Total :$110.57 Thank-you to this great board for steering me wisely! Even when I go nuts like some beginner and pay $90!!!!!!!! FOR THE AIRPORT!!!!
  13. How come there seems to be almost no postings for accepted bids for the SFC area in September? I am about to bid for hotels for September 3th-12th in both the SFO Airport and downtown Union Square areas. Is it because there are not many bids being accepted around that time? Is September a busy time? Just wondering where the wins are!
  14. this hotel is not the greatest nor was it the worst ( i was there just last week) but the location was awesome - the tube is a two minute walk from hotel, ten minutes from Piccaddilly Circus and there is a good internet cafe across the road ........and heck I paid $135 a night!! Nice win.
  15. it seems hotel prices have really gone up in London! I spent a week bidding ever day for Mayfair /Marble Arch London at to $200 and no counter or accepted offers - good luck! I ended up travelling to Manchester - but I think Wimbleton was the thing that was driving prices up for that week ...
  16. Renaissance Manchester Hotel City Centre Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$150.00 Subtotal: US$300.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$63.43 Total Charges: US$363.43 London was impossible to get nights for on those dates so I went to Manchester to see a friend, in my haste and booking on the run, I did not go through savingsbarn - my bad! Anyway $150 was not cheap for the hotel but it was better then the $250 bigs that wwere getting rejected for London.
  17. as a back up I have always bid on 4* hotels........ any idea...what is a good bidding zone for a 3* and what is the $ bid to make?
  18. ohhh nooooooooooooooooo that does not sound promising.... back up plan? my back up plan is to fork out more dough! but just how much more dough is going to make it click is the question! I haven't tried coz i didn't want it but maybe I might include Regents Park-Baker St and try to get the Hilton Metropole in the $85 range? It sounds like an unattractve hotel though, I would prefer not to.
  19. I had to break it up into two different hotels but I won 7 days at great 4* hotels on PRICELINE but now i am having trouble winning a 4 * for the last two days of my trip: Monday June 25th - Wednesday June 27th For the last two dates I have been bidding as high as $150 for Mayfair-Soho / Bloomsbury Marble Arch bidding zones and no wins for those days ..... and I also bid as high as $120 for Finsbury - Islington, Kensington - Earls Court - Knightsbridge, The City - London Bridge, Westminster bidding zones but no wins.......time she is running out............. Any idea what it is going to take or a strategy to get something? I really don't want a 3 star! Is there any pattern/evidence that more hotel rooms come more available closer to the dates?
  20. panditjee, in my experience with PRICELINE, the larger 4* hotels with conference facilities have more vacancy on weekends because during the week these large hotels customers come for business conferences and business travellers fill up thier hotels so I have found weekends way more easier to aqueire. Has anyone else found this to be true?
  21. that makes me feel better....soiunds like you have been there thanks for your help your help led me to get this one! the reviews for it are pretty great!
  22. Was aiming for Bloomsbury but got nervous and added outlying zones in a flurry of bidding (I went through savingsbarn link every time) I feel I over paid even though the on line rate was 110 pounds, the place looks ok. I got 3 night then added a night at the same rate! $135!!! darn that is not the usual steal to which am accustomed!!
