As I said yesterday there may be reasons that you are unsuccesful. 1) Inventory has not been released yet to Priceline. No-one knows when this happens. 2) Hotel prices are high due to some convention or big event. So the usual winning bids are no good. 3) One day in your range has a high rate, which will spoil the overall priceline bid. (Splitting the bid may help-but it has risks). IMHO I don't think PL is the best option in HK or Shanghai as AsiaRooms usually come up with good deals. Don't give up. Book a cancellable backup (as we discussed) and every 3-4 days take a 'pop' at PL. Keeping to your budget and researching elsewhere for reported wins. Have a good holiday.

What are the hotel rates direct from their web-sites? PL rates tend to be lower than HOTWIRE, but difficult to say by how much as this can vary greatly. Not a good indicator but what are the history of winning bids for PL in that area? (Look at the Priceline Hotel Maps)

Welcome to Betterbidding. You should find that there is no difference between any of those sites as alledgedly they all use the same database. As a UK user IMHO I'd use the UK site as if there's any problems (rare) you can supposedly get in touch easier. (Having said that I've had to contact the US PL site and they did respond reasonably well). The advantage of using the US site is that they have the "add a night feature" whilst the UK site doesn't. (They also have insurance, though IMHO it's useless!) Give us your extact dates ,maximum budget + areas to stay and we'll help.

Then we'll be able to help.

No idea really. One stance could be to book just the one night either at the start or end of your trip to see what this place is. If it's a bargain then book the remaining nights. Of course this has risks. The hotel may be a dump and if it's not when you come to rebook the nights it may not be available. Go for it! Please use the HOTWIRE support link if you do. Good luck
