  1. Embassy Suites Baltimore Inner Harbor $70 + taxes and fees. Looks like parking is $32 a night. Amenities listed are: Free breakfast, Pet friendly, Suite, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry Showed 95% recommended. I don't know what Hotiwre's definition of boutique is. Embassy Suites is a big chain.
  2. There's lots of re-bid zones in Minneapolis. I started at $40 and worked my way up to $48 bidding on: Bloomington West - Mall of America Downtown Minneapolis MSP Airport - Mall of America Midtown Minneapolis St. Paul University - Metrodome Total with fees is about $63.
  3. $44 plus taxes and fees. Amenities are Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service), High-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby The Best Western Seven Seas looks a bit older oon the outside but the rooms are in good condition. I would say its not quite what you'd expect from many 3 star properties. It has exterior hallways and the rooms are fairly small. The bathroom barely has any space. Also, the TV is LCD but did not have any HD channels. On the plus side, parking is free unlike many hotel circle properties. Side note: Charging for parking hotel circle seems ridiculous. There is nothing but hotels there and really the only way to get there is by car. This makes parking basically mandatory.
  4. Holiday Inn San Diego Mission Valley 6-9 to 6-10 Amenities: Non-smoking Fitness Pool Restaurant Laundry Internet 90% of Hotwire customers recommend 3.5 on Trip Advisor
  5. I'm looking at Hotwire for San Diego week of June 6 to 10. I have not decided which night but I'll only need one night. I see there is a 2.5 star La Mesa hotel for $41 on the night of June 8. The amenities are breakfast, pool, internet and it is approved in 85% of the reviews. I see on Trip Advisor that the only 2.5 star in La Mesa is Holiday Inn Express SDSU Area with a 61% recommend rating. There is also the TravelLodge La Mesa in Trip Advisor which I'm inclined to stay away from based on the horror reviews on the front desk service and deposit problems. La Mesa is not an area listed in the Hotwire hotel list. Was this previously part of a different area? Or has no one reported on a La Mesa hotel?
  6. Started bidding at $41, added Mountain View and bid $46. 2 Nights at $46 + taxes and fees = $112 This hotel has very good reviews on TripAdvisor.
  7. It seems that some results are stuck in the calendar. I searched Dec 1 to 14 in California Priceline all other cities. 3.5* Monterey Portola Hotel and Spa shows up everyday and it links to a post for Sep 9 to 11.
  8. $63 a night plus taxes and fees is $150.70. Also parking is $22 a night. Started bidding at $60 and increased to $63.
  9. 2.5 Star $53.17 including taxes and fees for Fairfield Inn And Suites By Marriott Memphis 6010 Macon Cove Road Memphis, Tennessee 38134-7643 901-384-0010
  10. Thanks for all your help. I tried bidding up to $63 for 3* in Fisherman's Wharf, USE, USW, and Embarcardero for Saturday Night and for both Saturday and Sunday nights. Nothing. I also tried bidding up to $43 in San Mateo for 3* and then retried for 2.5*. Again nothing for either Saturday night or both nights. Retried using Redwood City and got nothing. I ended up going with Travelocity's Top Secret Hotel 3* at $59 ($64 including taxes and fees) for Saturday night. This turned out to be the Crowne Plaza Foster City. The 3* Hotwire hotel in the same region is $67. For Sunday night, I again went with Travelocity's Top Secret Hotel 3* at $46 ($51 total). This turned out to be the Holiday Inn Express Belmont. The 3* on Hotwire which I suspect is the same hotel based on the amenity list and the lists here is the previously mentions $54. So, to summarize trying to undercut Hotwire with Priceline wasn't successful but under cutting it with Travelocity was. Neither will be as convenient as being in SF, but at least parking is free.
  11. Thanks for the tips. Fishersman's wharf is not the only zone that I'd be interested in. It was the first that came to mind though since I'll likely need to park in the area anyway to catch the Angel Island ferry. I'm also thinking of going to the Exploratorium. So may be a decent 2* (top level offered) in the Marina/Lombard zone is ok. USW, USE, SOMA, and Embarcadero are also possibilities. I mainly want to avoid civic center due to the possibility of ending up in the tenderloin. As for on the peninsula, I tried for Redwood City at up to $50 on Sunday night and got nothing even though Hotwire shows a 3* in their Redwood City - San Mateo zone for $54.
  12. Do hotels typically require more than one night stay for Priceline bids on Memorial weekend? I've been looking in the SF area and my bid for $50 was accepted for Friday at the Hilton Garden Emeryville but I cannot get Saturday on another bid (see priceline hotel thread). Checking their website shows no availability if I select Saturday night only but shows available rooms if I select check out on Monday. Similarly, I see that a number of people have gotten wins at $60 for the Best Western Tuscan Inn over that weekend. All the wins are for more than 1 night. I tried for Saturday night only and was rejected. I was hoping to stay in SF for Saturday night and on the peninsula for Sunday night. Any tips?
  13. First bid of $50 was accepted. Total with fees is $63.35. I also tried to extend to the next night (check out 5-30) and was rejected. I rebid $53 for 5-29 to 5-30 adding Hayward (no 3*) and was also rejected. So I am still weighing my options for that night in the SF area.
  14. Searching online Frommer's and others show that parking is $42 at this hotel. Ouch. I really think that parking and other fees really distorts the bidding. For a given bid, I can get a hotel that really costs $42 more than another one!
  15. Bid 3*: $39 - Kearny Mesa $41 - Kearny Mesa, Del Mar $43 - Kearny Mesa, Del Mar, San Diego Coastal <- Accepted Total is $55.86 after $12.86 in taxes and fees. Also, according the website it's $18 for parking.
  16. 1-15 to 1-16 $59 + fees and taxes = $72.86 Amenities Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access
  17. Woodfin Hotel San Diego 10044 Pacific Mesa Boulevard Room Subtotal: $45.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $13.16 (USD) Total Room Cost: $58.16 (USD) Dec 5 to Dec 6
  18. Following CcSqueaky123's suggestion, I got Staybridge Suites Oakbrook Terrace on Priceline for $33. I had hid up to $45 for a 3.5* but got nothing. Then I rebid at $33 for 3* and got the Staybridge.
  19. I'll be in Chicago 8-7 to 8-10. The first night I'm staying by O'Hare (see this Hotwire Chicago thread). I'm still looking for the other nights. It looks like it'll be in a suburb somewhere since downtown is really bid up (probably due to Lollapalooza?). Breakfast included and possibility of getting 2 beds are nice to haves. I'm hoping for <$60 a night before fees and taxes. Any ideas? One possibility I see is: 2.5* hotel in Lombard - Oak Brook - Downers Grove Area $39 Breakfast, Fitness, Internet No Tripadvisor info.
  20. Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure about going with PRICELINE though. There are a lot of hotels in that zone for 3*. What are the chances I'd get the Staybridge as well? With HOTWIRE I can see if breakfast is offered and try to get 2 beds by specifying more than 2 people. Any ideas on: 2.5* hotel in Lombard - Oak Brook - Downers Grove Area $39 Breakfast, Fitness, Internet No Tripadvisor info.
  21. I've decided to build up this itinerary piece by piece. The first night I'm arriving late at O'Hare (~11:30 pm) so I booked near the airport. I got: Holiday Inn CHICAGO-ELK GROVE 1000 BUSSE ROAD ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL 60007 for $48 + 11.93 taxes and fees for the night. This is listed as 3* in O'Hare Intl Airport ORD North. Amenities are: Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby I realize I won't get points for this stay, but should I call and try to add my priority club number?
