  1. For breakfast....nothing beats the Bellagio. In fact, all their buffets rock the house...but the breakfast really stood out! For seafood....the Rio rocks the house. Paris is pretty nice as well. Tried a few others (Mirage, Mandalay, Luxor, MGM....) and none were particular memorable for the price. My wife and I are pretty much "buffet'd out" from our trips. When you are paying $30 a person plus tip, there are SO MANY really good restaurants that you can eat at for that price (or less). Granted, we like quality over quantity...hehe, which is probably why the Rio and Bellagio are the only buffets we would probably go to.
  2. Yeah, that's a killer deal for the price, especially since one of those nights is Saturday night. Is business really that slow in Wynn-land these days that they are lowering their rates more than 50%?
  3. If you're just looking for a good value hotel near the Strip, that's a pretty nice score for $47/night.
  4. We just came back from THEHotel this week. Midweek rates = $100/night thru Priceline ($107/night if you book through Hotwire). And then there's the resort fees on top of that. :) :o Great hotel...but no way you're gettin' that over the weekend of July 4th (one would think). :) Yeah, it's a nice place....as long as you don't mind slightly off Strip. Great place for families.
  5. When I checked Mandalay's own website for rates, there were a couple weekends in June/July that were noted as being super expensive beyond the typical weekend rate AND there was a notation that the Sat-Sun night was unavailable for just one night reservation (i.e. you need to book 2 or more nights, I think). I can't remember which weekends they were....but that might explain why you can't get it. If you're not super picky about where you stay and willing to chance it, some of these rooms might become available at the last minute (within 24-48 hrs ahead of time).
  6. My take -- $140 is pushing it.....IF you are demanding a 5-star place on a weekend (June 25-26). All the serious hotel bargains are usually midweek. It looks like you can get the new Vdara hotel for $144/night over that weekend (through HOTWIRE)....so maybe there's hope of getting something a little lower via PRICELINE bidding.
  7. Damn, they really can't get people to fill the rooms there!! Eeeks....Trump must seriously be draining cash big-time on this hotel!!!
  8. A quick followup... Great hotel if you want some seclusion away from the casino hustle!!! :) Also, FYI, while hotel is technically South Strip....Priceline lists is as "South Strip Vacinity"! Not sure who I edited my post. But people bidding might want to know that, as it made me do a few double-takes, just to make sure I was bidding in the right area!
  9. The wife and I decided to do a last-minute trip to Vegas for our 3rd anniversary. We wanted a hotel that afforded us nice relaxation options with an infant tagging along...and there's no better hotel in Vegas for 'kids' than Mandalay Bay. Started off clicking on the PRICELINE link....then began the bidding at a ridiculous $80/night. :) Offer rejected...but a counter offer was given of $107. Pretty decent -- a $1/night savings vs. the HOTWIRE rate. But I was not ready to give up getting a lower rate!! So I upped my starting bid to $90/night. Still rejected. No counter offer this time, so I upped it to $95/night. Rejection!! But I was still not ready to throw in the towel! So I entered $100.....and accepted!! Wooo HOOOO!!!! Mandalay Beach....here we come! :o Thanks as always to BB -- which must rank as the best website I love that still has that good ole' 2002 bulletin-board feel!!! :)
  10. No way to back out. Sorry. While not a great deal, it's a decent 3-star hotel for the price. You may get a little noise from the airplane landing flight path! :)
  11. Good luck at getting a good deal (via PRICELINE or HOTWIRE) on ANYTHING in Santa Barbara. It's an expensive market with few hotels seeming to participate. I've checked numerous times....and I've rarely ever seen anything remotely for the price you're looking for. You'd be lucky to get a 2-star place for $110-120 over the weekend.... :)
  12. The Indigo is a brand new hotel in Downtown. I think it opened in July of this year. Looks like a pretty location in a newly-renovated area of SD.
  13. Just checked HOTWIRE.... It appears the Hilton Gaslamp (4 stars) is listing right (Thursday morning) for $135 a night. It's not the Omni for sure....but it's only about 2 short blocks to Petco. Decent location to see a lot of stuff. Just keep in mind parking is brutal anywhere around Petco/Gaslamp....so plan ($$$) accordingly. That's the only sure-fire way I can see to get right next to Petco Park. The Downtown/Harbor Island zone through PRICELINE has some killer deals, some of which include this Hilton and the Omni. But there's just no way to know what you're going to get. One thing you might consider (with an 8-year old) is stay somewhere in Old Town, and take the trolley down to Petco. It's $5 for adults (R/T), and I'm not sure how much kids pay. It's a fun ride down!! My two cents....
  14. Scorchin' low price. Never heard of such a thing for a Hilton!!! :) :) :o :)
  15. Clicked on the BetterBidding link for PRICELINE... Started my bidding down at $90 and moved up at $5 increments. Fortunately, SD has a lot of zones without any 4-star places. I was hoping to get the Loews Resort but didn't happen. It finally took for $130....and it was with the Marriott. Nice location....so I'm happy (especially since the hotel's direct booking right now is $196/night) Here's the nitty-gritty: Price Per Room, Per Night: $130.00 Subtotal: $650.00 Taxes & Fees: $99.85 (OUCH -- gotta love those "LOW" California taxes!) Total Charges*: $749.85 My sister should be happy to stay here... :) :) :o :)
  16. Looks like a pretty hot view of the city. When did you book this bad boy on HOTWIRE? Man, the prices are really up there.....wow! $243 for a the Holiday Inn Express in Downtown.....eeeeks!
  17. amazing....they are already accepting bids for $99 for next April. Craziness. Economy must really be yankin' them down.
  18. Great price. Makes me wish I had tried this instead of paying $118 for the Hyatt Mission Bay. For $28 less a night, I'd definitely stay at the Hilton.
  19. Wow, what a deal.....the cost of parking will cost you about 1/4th of that much!! :)
  20. Great selection and deal for $73....one of the nicest places to stay in the area!
