  1. When looking in Gaslamp area remember to consider parking costs - the Palomar charges $40/day parking! Most others closer to $20/day for parking.
  2. Sparky - Were you able to use the waterpark with the $30 resort fee or was the waterpark extra on top of that? Thanks!
  3. Did you have to pay for parking downtown on top of the hotel price per night at this location? Thanks!
  4. Was the waterpark included or did they charge extra for the wristbands for the waterpark? Thanks! :-)
  5. Thank you very much for posting your experience! It will save others like me from encountering the same negative suprise. On a positive note I understand that the guests at the Lodge are entitled to use all the amenities of the Ventana resort up the road. So think of it as getting a great discount, hang at the resort all day, and then getting a different view at night at the Lodge! :-) Let us know about the stay - who knows, you may have discovered a discounted alternate to enjoy the Ventana Resort by staying at the Ventana Lodge! :-)
  6. Wow - this is a great price for the Loews Resort - usually "the Lodge at Ventana Canyon" down the street has been snapping up the bids in this price range. Can you confirm that it was the Resort and not the Lodge that accepted the bid? Either way you should be able to use the Resort amenities - just have to drive a short ways up the street if staying at the Lodge. Thanks for the clarification when you get a chance. Hope you have a nice stay there - should be good! :)
  7. Thank you for the post and info - can you use the Loews pool/amenities when staying at the Lodge property down the street? I'd like to know this as we want to stay at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in August, but best rate I can get there is $89 group rate. There is also the danger of the horrific Westin La Paloma "Hole of Hades" might snap up the bid as they are in same region. Maybe not worth the risk to save $52...
  8. Was hoping to land either the JW Marriott (North Phoenix) or Fairmont Princess (North Scottsdale) as I saw both properties accepting offers in the $82 to $130 range recently. I started by using the PRICELINE link from these boards and bid from $72 to $126 in $10 then $5 increments (adding non-resort regions each time). Well good ole Tapatio Cliffs accepted at $126. I like this property just fine - stayed there last May for $55 - my how times have changed, eh?!? Phoenix is sold out and crazy booked up this last week of March at a lot of properties - must be last week of Spring Training and maybe something else going on that week! Here's the details of the deal I got for 2 Rooms: Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort Phoenix North 11111 North 7th Street Phoenix, Arizona 85020 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $126.00 Subtotal: $504.00 Taxes & Fees: $85.48 Total Charges*: $589.48 Better than the $186 per night you can purchase direct from the Hilton website - but a far cry from the deals we were able to get last summer! Oh well - will be fun anyway. and thanks again to this website for allowing the research leading to this decent deal!
  9. How did you like this property? Planning a trip to Mesa and looking for nice affordable place for a family of 4 - Thanks!
  10. Did you like this property more than your other stay at Arizona Golf Resort Hotel in East Mesa? or are they similar? Planning a trip to Mesa and looking for nice affordable place for a family of 4 - Thanks!
  11. Where is Starr Pass Gold Resort for $45 offered? Is this the place with the water slide and lazy river out west of Tucson past/near A mountain? This is a Marriott property, correct?
  12. Confused - you stated "but won't risk PRICELINE as I fear getting Loews Resort which I do not want." Which resort Do you want? If you prefer La Paloma there is another post in HOTWIRE section stating that someone got in there for $59. If you prefer Ventana Canyon then there seems to be quite a few wins on PRICELINE from $56 to $61 range. However, just noted jaycee200 just had the La Paloma accept a priceline bid at $60 as well - so no guarantee either way on Priceline. Point being you can have a good chance of getting La Paloma using HOTWIRE and could go either way using PRICELINE. I'm in situation of wanting Ventana Canyon on PRICELINE for $60, but afraid of getting La Paloma - since they are both in same zone, too bad La Paloma has sold through Priceline lately, otherwise would have good chance of getting Ventana Canyon through Priceline. Lowes is offering a fast-track to their VAL-YOUFIRST loyalty program - ask for the special offer and gets you Blue level status (free internet, fitness center, and room upgrade) - last I checked this gets you $50 food/beverage credit on a 2 night stay - but the rooms are $159/night. Much better to get a Priceline deal, but not able to ensure getting into Ventana Canyon instead of La Paloma... bummer! :-)
  13. Hey now - I expected the Radisson to accept my bid based on reports from this board... ... what is the Crowne Plaza doing accepting $34 bids?!? Oh well, time to check their reviews and parkng policy, Radisson lets to park n fly for low price, hope Crowne Plaza does too! Thanks for the awesome resource, of course i used the PRICELINE link from a previos post to start my bids. Oh yea, tried $31, but no soap, response was to increase by $10. I had a better idea, increased to $34 and added Apache Junction (no 3 stars there), and boom Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport bit at $34. Details below: Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport Phoenix Airport (PHX) 4300 East Washington Street Phoenix, Arizona 85034 602-273-7778 Check-In Date: Fri, Jul 2, 2010 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sat, Jul 3, 2010 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $34.00 Subtotal: $34.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.83 Total Charges*: $45.83 Anyone know how much thay charge for parking per night for park n fly? Thanks!
  14. Started by using the PRICELINE link on this awesome board. Tried $36 yesterday and no go. Bid $40 today and got the Holiday Inn Express: Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Medford-Central Point 285 Penninger Street Central Point, OR 97502 541-423-1010 Check-In: Saturday, July 3, 2010-03:00 PM Check-Out: Saturday, July 10, 2010-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $40.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 7 Room Subtotal: $280.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $40.88 (USD) Total Room Cost: $320.88 (USD) Many thanks to HelloNewman, slick44, and this website search engine - your bid posts from last year guided my search for Medford winning bids and great to see the $40 rate still works today! Awesome resource - thanks everyone! :-)
  15. The "Hilton El Conquistador" is actually in Oro Valley (northwest of Tucson) and probably the $79/night rate you see in the North Tucson-Oro Valley area hotel on Hotwire.
  16. Be sure to visit the WIGWAM MOTEL while you are there! Especially if you have kids and/or like the animated film Cars. Fun to walk around the 15 "Cozy Cones" and check out the junk car in front of each one and correlate to the characters in the movie. The wigwams are not the best place to sleep (right near train tracks and pretty small beds) - so staying at Days Inn and just visiting the Wigwams (and Petrified Forest nearby) should be fun!
  17. Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort 11111 North 7Th Street Phoenix, AZ 85020 602-866-7500 Check-In: Friday, May 28, 2010-04:00 PM Check-Out: Monday, May 31, 2010-12:00 PM Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $55.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $165.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $30.03 (USD) Total Room Cost: $195.03 (USD) Start with PRICELINE link from this website. Tried $41, $46, $51, and finally won with $55 (adding non-resort areas succesively). Stayed here twice last year and fun both times ($51 one time and $55 the other). Good to see the good deals are still available this year - especially over a Holiday weekend! :) Happy Hunting!
  18. Took a while to get - tried yesterday up to $45 and nothing took - luckily today more inventory added. Was able to get same property at $41 in October 2009, oh well, maybe still winter visitor rates in Phoenix area. Started at $25 and added Scottsdale, North Scottsdale, East Mesa, West Mesa, Chandler-Gilbert, Apache Junction, and finally on last bid at $45 and adding Happy Valley the Marriott in East Mesa bit. I started from the PRICELINE link from this site, got interrupted though and timed out and logged back in to finish so not sure if betterbidding got credit for this one or not? Overall happy - as you can see from all the regions I tried there's not a lot of 3* inventory out there this week (Scottsdale, North Scottsdale, East Mesa, West Mesa, and Chandler-Gilbert all have 3* properties in them)! Details: Marriott Phoenix Mesa West Mesa 200 North Centennial Way Mesa, Arizona 85201 Check-In Date: Fri, Feb 26, 2010 Check-Out Date: Sun, Feb 28, 2010 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $45.00 Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes & Fees: $19.40 Total Charges*: $109.40
  19. Tried $35, then $40, then $45, now I see on previous win maybe I should have tried $43! :-) Seems like a good price for 3.5*, I am happy and yes I used the PRICELINE link from this website. Thanks betterbidding.com! Fiesta Resort Conference Center Tempe 2100 South Priest Drive Tempe, Arizona 85282 480-967-1441 Check-In Date: Sat, Jan 30, 2010 Check-Out Date: Sun, Jan 31, 2010 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $45.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.03 Total Charges*: $58.03
  20. Details below - took $41 on first bid (wonder what the lowest was? ugh) - should have started lower, but I'm just happy some 3 star inventory was available in Mesa (see last post - DO NOT drop down to 2 star on Priceline if higher star levels not available - wait it out or pay more!) Marriott Phoenix Mesa Mesa 200 North Centennial Way Mesa, Arizona 85201 Check-In Date: Thu, Oct 15, 2009 / After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Fri, Oct 16, 2009 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $41.00 Subtotal: $41.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.47 Total Charges*: $53.47 Not bad - hope to be able to sleep well here! :)
  21. How embarassing - posting this so everyone else can learn from my mistake! :) Tried to get as close to Usery Pass in Mesa as possible. Apache Junction would be fine however they only have 2 star places listed on PRICELINE (hello Gold Canyon - get yourself listed please!). After countless combinations trying to get at least a 3 star in Mesa or Apache Junction I got frustrated and pressed for time. Waited a day and tried the gammet again - no soap - so in a moment of last resort when for the 2 star. No dice at $30 and finally Extended Stay bit at $35. Problem is that the Extended stay turned out to be a total dive. Even Adam the front desk person's super excellent friendly service could not make up for this dismal property. Rock hard loud squeaky beds made for 2 restless nights. DO NOT stay here. My advise is DO NOT drop down to 2 star on PRICELINE - not even in Mesa, AZ. Be more patient (see my next post in which I got the Marriott 3 star for $6 more later in the week) and wait for 3 star inventory to be posted (or just pay more to ensure you get good sleep). I did not even want to post this because I had to pay relatively high price for a 2 star and then turned out to be a bad place - I fugured however that a little embarassment on my part might save others a bad experience. So please learn from me - if PRICELINE has no inventory at the star level you want, just wait it out or pay more elsewhere! Happy Hunting! :)
