  1. Disgusting. :) Just because younger people in the past have caused "problems", they're enforcing a blanket indictment of everyone who happens to have been born after a certain date? As if no one over 21 ever trashed a hotel room. What if they would have told you that people of your color had caused "problems in the past"? This hotel doesn't deserve your business --- or mine.
  2. Upon checkout, I was presented with the following receipt: :) Room: $64.95 Taxes: $6.50 Total Due: $71.45 I confirmed with the front desk that I was prepaid, so I would assume the above is what PRICELINE paid for each room. No surprise that my original bid of $59 was rejected - but they did end up clearing about $20 in total. How low could I have gone, I wonder...
  3. Needed two rooms... quick! First bid of $59 was rejected, with a rebid offer of $17 more. I ignored that and added Allentown (Downtown) and rebid $70, figuring that would be enough. And I *needed* the rooms. For reference, the cheapest non-opaque rate I could find was $128++. Holiday Inn Allentown I-78 (Lehigh Valley) 7736 Adrienne Drive Breinigsville, PA 18031 Offer Price: $70 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $140.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $23.74 Total Charges: $163.74
  4. Got the night of May 5th for $57.06 all-in this year. $45 bid + $12.06 taxes/fees. Earlier bids of $29, $32, $35, $39 over the past few days were all refused. This morning I was slightly surprised to have a $45 bid accepted, having had to bid at least $10 higher last year.
  5. $41..$42..$43..$44..$45..$46..$47..$48..$49... all rejected for a 3* or Resort property in the Tucson East or La Paloma - Ventana Canyon areas. Two years ago, I got the Hilton for less than $40 a night for the same dates. What will it take this time? P.S. I sure hope savingsbarn gets something for failed bids!
  6. Dedham Hilton. First bid of $58 accepted. $71.63 all in. Was going to try $55 but didn't want to waste time this morning.
  7. Didn't bother to mess around with this one - 2 rooms with 2 identical but separate (just in case I landed the Embassy Suites) bids at $43, total $112.61. No surprise, but wait... Called ahead for late arrival and adjoining rooms, was told they would try to accomodate but could not guarantee. When we arrived at 1AM on the 23rd, got assigned rooms 3 floors apart after several minutes of calls from the front desk to housekeeping. Handed the keys to Jorge the bellhop and he tells us to wait a minute, he has three kids too, he'll straighten this out. Jorge comes back and leads us up to the 1,800+/- sq. ft. Presidential Suite. Loads of room for my family with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a large living/dining/meeting area and a kitchen. What a deal - too bad it was only for one night.
  8. Well, I'm planning to do it for 8 nights in early March. I will be sure to post a report on our experience upon our return. We have already booked the room directly with the folks at HWV and advised them of the situation (3 kids: 6, 3 & 1). Still debating whether or not it would be better to take a room with 2 twins or one with a king bed and let the older two share an inflatable mattress. I am definitely leaning toward the king/inflatable idea.
  9. You might want to try cheaptickets.com if you haven't made other arrangements already. I just ran a search on your flight parameters and they came up with an itinerary for $670 (1-stop out, 2-stops back). That's a little closer to your target price. Good luck!
  10. P.S. For those interested in the final details: Offer Price: $43.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $56.42
  11. Well, I guess the $41 Embassy Suites wasn't available for this night :) Tried $40, got free rebid at $52, declined it of course. Spouse tried at $29, was rejected out of hand. Next, added Century City/West Hollywood but upped bid to $41. No luck. Waited a few days and tried again with just LAX at $42, still no takers. Finally added CC/WH once again and upped it to $43. Hope the Radisson's OK, I just needed a place for my family to sleep from 1AM to 9AM between flights.
  12. You didn't lose much - if you read the fine print, the $5 booking fee Orbitz charges is not included in the price guarantee: The Orbitz Low Fare Promise applies only to the total airfare and does not apply to differences based on service, booking, processing, shipping, paper-ticket and other fees not collected on the airline ticket. Plus, the difference has to be at least $5 per ticket lower after the fees are taken into account - so you lost nothing. P.S. The guarantee only covers published fares, not those you would get by bidding through Priceline or Hotwire.
  13. Well, this took a while, but I'm satisifed... lowest rate at the Hilton site is $199. Your Offer Price: $150.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $450.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $66.53 Total Charges: $516.53 Initially bid $135/night, declined free re-bid @$157. Tried again later in the day @ $140 with an added area, declined a re-bid @ $162. Next, had my wife try a bid at $125 to see if she'd get a free re-bid at $147. No luck. Used up a bunch of free bids by adding areas and eventually worked back up to $148. Still no luck. Came back two days later to find that I had one more "added area" bid left on my first request. Tried a final bid of $150 and got a message that said I'd entered the incorrect security code for my credit card and that Priceline couldn't process my request! This told me that they would accept the $150 bid. I looked around one last time to see if there was anyway I thought I could beat the price. Once I was satisfied I couldn't, I resumed the bid and won it.
  14. Well, Upon further review of the vacations package, I'd say with 99% certainty that this is the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The amenities shown for the property on the initial package page do not match the list above, but an identical list is displayed after one clicks on the "Hotel details + photos" link. Tim
  15. Waikiki Beachfront 4.5* Resort - a Customer Favorite Amenities Beachfront Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center Business Center Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Children's Activity Program Spa $176 per night for 2/25-2/28. Interesting to note here that this price has not changed within the month that I've been looking at it. I can't find an exact match for this on the HOTWIRE HOTEL LIST. My first guess would be Hilton Hawaiian Village. Anyone have any better idea which hotel this is? TIA, Tim
  16. May I ask what type of room you received for this rate? Garden, golf, mountain, or ocean view? Which tower/area of the resort? TIA
  17. I've now tried Priceline up to $39 per night. Still no luck. Might as well book it through Hotwire...
  18. Tried the same $35 bid today on Priceline for 1/4/05 - 1/8/05. It was not accepted. Hotwire still shows $42 for a 3.5* the same dates. Will try Priceline one more time at maybe $37. Anyone know what type of room you would get at Hilton East via Priceline/Hotwire? Do all of their rooms come with 2 queen beds?
