  1. Can you please confirm the amenities for this property? BTW, this hotel is located in PRICELINE's Brentwood Zone if you were inclined to bid. As far as I can tell, I believe its the only property in this postage stamp sized zone.
  2. You might also want to check out the High Line Park. Also, when visiting Central Park, you could see it on a bike, check out Cycle Central Park Inc. for cheap bike rentals.
  3. Can you please confirm the star rating for this property? I don't believe this property is rated as being 3*. At any rate, this is a very good deal for Long Island City, and its only two blocks to the train station. This is not a very active neighborhood and there are limited dining options nearby, so you may have to dine in Manhattan! :)
  4. Rooms at the Renaissance are better and newer than those at the Country Inn and Suites and it is rated higher by 1* but you will have to pay for breakfast at the Renaissance.
  5. yes, pizza lovers have been known to polish off a whole pie unassisted. :)
  6. Welcome! can you please post your dates of travel? Thanks for using the links on the board.
  7. it shows up when I looked at the Calendar of Wins for Jan 21 2011.
  8. HOTWIRE's JFK zone extends all the way up to Jamaica Avenue and these properties could possibly be the Quality, Comfort, Clairon, or LaQuinta Inns.
  9. Note that a Shuttle amenity does not guarantee that its free, some hotels may charge for this service. Also, its possible that this hotel has a shuttle, but may have omitted this amenity with its HOTWIRE listing in an attempt to make it more opaque.
  10. Welcome! this amenity combination could be the Sheraton, but could also be InterContinental, Hyatt, or Embassy Suites Please use the HOTWIRE links on the board if you proceed
  11. thanks again for posting your purchase, information such as this keeps this board up to date. I'm not sure if you can re-open this complaint, but if your hotel room does not comply with the amenities shown prior to purchase, you can argue for a cancellation of the reservation or for a partial refund in the form of hot Dollars to be used in the future. $30 in hot Dollars is inadequate, in my opinion, I would start at $100 and settle for $50. Here is HOTWIRE's definition of a suite: A guestroom designed for an extended stay and/or that is more spacious than the average hotel room. Suites typically offer residential-style furnishings, as well as separate living and sleeping areas; some also offer kitchenettes If your room did not offer separate living and sleeping areas, you have a good case for a better refund. Be calm, firm and state the facts as simply as possible. HOTWIRE will need to call the hotel and won 't be able to resolve this immediately, it will take a few days, hence my advice for making the complaint upon check in. I have used HOTWIRE for about 75 bookings over the years and have had maybe 6 problems, all of which were resolved to my satisfaction. I had reservations cancelled and refunded, received partial or even 100% hot Dollars and felt that HOTWIRE was an advocate for me when I had a complaint about a hotel. Well, there was that one time I didn't like receiving the Newark (NJ) Comfort Inn, but it was within the shaded zone, and I lived to tell about it and my car was untouched. :) Good luck and please let us know the outcome if you choose to re-contact HOTWIRE.
  12. thanks for reporting this win, but the hotel is within the shaded area of the PRICELINE map. However, it operates a free shuttle within a 5 mile radius. PRICELINE is not a good choice when you need to be in a specific location, especially in a suburban location with limited public transportation. With HOTWIRE, you can frequently identify the hotel prior to purchase using the tools on this board.
  13. Welcome! Perhaps you can "pay it forward" and share a few of your extensive winning bids so that others may be helped? More data points and winning bids make this board more relevant.thanks!
  14. you seem to be hunting for only one type of game, i.e., a known outcome.....yet the result of your bid could be any property that appears on the list (and possibly you could uncover a new property not previously reported to Betterbidding). Part of the reward of obtaining a room at a deep discount is the inherent risk involved with bidding.
  15. Welcome and be warned, once you start paying less than half for hotel rooms, you can't go back to paying rack rates! Just like the stock market, past performance doesn't forcast future results, so while looking at historical information can help, its not totally relevant to your stay. What is your maximum bid per night, the minimum star rating and the zones which you are willing to accept? Is there any particular reason for wanting to stay in the Times Square zone? Also, just because the Hilton Times Square was reported as a win, your bid is based on a minimum star rating and you could get any hotel that meets this criteria in the zone you select.
  16. Sorry to see that this didn't work out to your satisfaction, but as per Our Rules and Policies: Please share your winning bid with the board and post a conclusion to your Priceline New York City topic and we will comment further.
  17. please re-post just the amenities with no descriptions as it will be easier to read and render advice. Are your plans firm for these dates?
  18. thanks for the follow up and glad that your argument prevailed. You got a great deal!
  19. This is a bit of a guess since a hotel with this amenity combination has not been reported, but with the Tripadvisor rating of 3 out of 5 and the Non-Smoking amenity plus a 3.5* rating, I believe this could be the Sheraton. Good Luck!
  20. please post your dates of travel and the size of your party and we will take a look. Is there any reason you have not considered PRICELINE? There are a few 3* in this zone which have accepted bids in the low $50's. The Doubletree in Somerset was recently reported as a win at $40.
  21. Greetings! Can you please add your dates of travel? This will allow your win to appear in the Calendar of Wins Merci bouceaup!
  22. yes, its still one of my favorites, despite a recent stay where all of the ice machines were broken. An absolute steal for $46...but for a few $$ more, the new Spring Hill Suites in the MacArthur zone provides free breakfast and free wifi, a slightly better value, IMO.
  23. began bidding in the MacArthur Airport zone at the 3* level at $44, a lowball offer in an attempt to snag the Holiday Inn as its a dead travel day on a dead travel week. I guess the renovations have increased its occupancy levels and hence its rates. I received a counteroffer to increase the bid by $15. I dropped to a 2.5* and bid $46, but received the same $15 counteroffer. Dropped to a 2* and bid $42 and received no counteroffer. I changed zones to Hauppauge and selected a 3.5*, bid $46 and got the Hyatt. Your Offer Price: $46.00 Taxes & Fees: $14.10 Total Charges: $60.10 The standard rate is $154 so this works for me. Made my bids using the PRICELINE links on the boards. Although a nice property, it is a bit frayed around the edges, the rooms need to be freshened up a bit. However, the lobby is still pretty decent.
  24. Sorry about that! My Brampton Holiday Inn Select win was through HOTWIRE. :)
