  1. AaronJB, Thanks for the reply! I'd probably go up to $150 or so. Do you have any suggestions?
  2. All of these failed for 8/13/10-8/15/10: $120 4* $130 3.5* $120 3* $130 2.5* $140 2*

  4. We decided on July 4 to stay in or near San Francisco after watching fireworks in the evening. I started bidding at 3pm on July 4 for a room later that day. REJECTED: $55 - 4* Financial District, SFO International Airport, SOMA - Moscone Center, San Mateo, Union Square East, Union Square West ACCEPTED: $60 - 4* Financial District, SFO International Airport, SOMA - Moscone Center, San Mateo, Union Square East, Union Square West (added Civic Center) San Mateo Marriott SFO Airport 1770 South Amphlett Boulevard San Mateo, CA 94402 650-653-6000 Room Subtotal: $60.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $16.74 (USD) Total Room Cost: $76.74 (USD) Overall, I was happy with the service and the stay. The late-night desk folks were friendly and organized. The room was clean and had marble counter tops and a huge TV. The neighborhood is a bit industrial but is less than a minute from US-101 and is close to SFO airport. At first glance, parking appears to be for pay/valet only, but there is free self-parking. As is expected with most brand-name 4* hotels, internet costs $10 or so. Sometimes I wonder if there is any advantage of a Marriott or Hilton compared with a 3* Courtyard or Holiday Inn. These 3* hotels typically comparable rooms and free internet for ~$20 less than 4* places on Priceline. I used the PRICELINE link from BetterBidding.
  5. I'm planning a trip to Livermore later this month, and I could use some help IDing the 3* Livermore hotel, listed at $54/night, with these amenities: Suite A guestroom designed for an extended stay and/or that more spacious than the average hotel room. Suites typically offer residential-style furnishings, as well as separate living and sleeping areas; some also offer kitchenettes. Complimentary Breakfast <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. Laundry Facilities <amenity names only please... not descriptions> High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. Golf Nearby Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one golf course; an extra charge typically applies. Kitchenette Accommodations include a stovetop or microwave oven, a sink and a mini-refrigerator. Thanks!
  6. This is from a couple weeks ago, but I forgot to post it. I've gotten this deal before, so I didn't experiment with different prices. Used the PRICELINE link. I was very satisfied with the place, and I especially like the kitchenette. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $37.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $37.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $11.55 (USD) Total Room Cost: $48.55 (USD)
  7. I was hoping for the Towneplace Suites in Broken Arrow (which I got last week), but no such luck. Oh, well, according to reviews, this La Quinta is clean, if not brand new. I would share a bidding history, but I thought I was low-balling with an opening offer of $33 for a 2* in SE Tulsa - Broken Arrow. I wonder how much cheaper I could have gotten this. La Quinta Inn Tulsa 41st Street 2 Star Southeast Tulsa - Broken Arrow 10829 E 41st Street Tulsa, Oklahoma 74146 918-665-0220 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $33.00 Subtotal: $66.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.83 Total Charges*: $82.83 I used the PRICELINE link.
  8. Hey, here's a new hotel to add to the database! I wanted to try somewhere in Tulsa where I hadn't been, and SE Tulsa was my ideal location. I did a LOT of bidding before finally landing a deal, first starting with 3.5 stars and methodically working my way down. I hope my bidding history can help future bidders. Goal: 3.5* in SE tulsa. Free zones: Downtown, Midtown-Expo, Sand Springs, Airport TUL 4/13/09 Starting: $35 +Downtown: $37 +Midtown-Expo:$38 +Sand Springs: $39 +Airport: $40 All of the above: Rejected. Goal: 3* in SE tulsa. Free zones: Midtown-Expo, Sand Springs, Airport TUL 4/13/09 Starting: $37 +Midtown-Expo: $38 +Sand Springs: $39 +Airport: $40 All of the above: Rejected. Goal: 2.5* in SE tulsa Free zone: Sand Springs Starting: $37 +Sand Springs: $40 All of the above: Rejected. Goal: 2* in SE Tulsa No free zones. $40 - Accepted Towneplace Suites By Marriott Tulsa Broken Arrow 2251 North Stone Wood Circle Broken Arrow, OK 74012 918-355-9600 Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $40.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $80.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $18.98 (USD) Total Room Cost: $98.98 (USD) As you can see, I got a bit impatient in the end. I should have bid $35 or so for the 2* in SE tulsa and if it was rejected, waited until tomorrow to rebid. I may have left a few dollars on the table, but I'm still satisfied. If I like the Towneplace Suites, I might bid for it again in the future, and we'll see how low I can go. The Towneplace Suites rooms include a kitchen, and I'd like to cook, so I'm excited to try out this property. I might post a review of it, and I'll compare it to my experiences at the ExtendedStay in Tulsa.
  9. Just a note: Upon arrival, I found out that DoubleTree technically requires guests to be 21 or older to check-in. I'm only 18, so they gave me a hard time, but I showed my university ID, and they did eventually let me check in. Still, it was a bit of a hassle, so I recommend avoiding DT if you're under 21. If you're over 21, or if you're under 21 but don't mind a little bit of arguing, this is a great hotel for the price. No other complaints. :)
  10. Just a quick FYI on the Best Western at TUL: Last week, I was visiting Tulsa, and I stayed in the ExtendedStay America ($35/night + $25 off coupon, bought on ESA website). The ESA was comfortable and affordable as always, but when I was on the bus headed for the airport, I got a call from American Airlines, which said that my flight back to Chicago was cancelled! I was rescheduled to depart at 6 AM from TUL the next morning. In my scramble to find a room for the night, I chose Best Western Airport, because of its free airport shuttle service. I didn't have time to fiddle with priceline, so I booked it on Expedia for $52. When I arrived at the hotel, I was disappointed. The room smelled like smoke, the bed was uncomfortable, and the bathroom fixtures were falling apart. I recommend avoiding this hotel.
  11. Congrats! I stayed here over new year's weekend, and I was impressed. I got it for about $40 on Hotwire. It's a minute from I-88, and there's plenty of places to grab food closeby. If you get time, I recommend Connie's Pizza just up the street. Enjoy.
  12. 3/30/09 Airport 2.5* Bid $33 REJECTED 3/30/09 Airport Sand Springs 2.5* Bid $35 ACCEPTED Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $35.00 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.45 Total Charges*: $87.45 Tulsa Airport (TUL) 2201 North 77th East Avenue Tulsa, Oklahoma 74115 918-835-9911 I was shooting to get the same $33/night deal that joejoe got a couple months ago: Radisson Tulsa Used the PRICELINE link. A couple of my friends have stayed here before, and they were very satisfied. This place is literally 1000ft from the airport terminal, though I will be driving into Tulsa on this trip. Random piece of Tulsa trivia: if you fly into TUL and need a taxi, get your taxi at the Radisson. If you get the cab at the airport terminal, you will be slapped with a $8 "airport departure fee."
  13. forgot to post this: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $37.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $148.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $26.08 (USD) Total Room Cost: $174.08 (USD)
  14. $30 for Champaign-Urbana 1*, REJECTED (next day) $35 for Champaign-Urbana 1*, REJECTED (offer from Priceline to rebid immediately) $37 for Champaign-Urbana 1*, ACCEPTED Expedia wants $55-60/night for this hotel, so I think this is a pretty good deal. I like extendedstay hotels because they have kitchenettes.
  15. I stayed in that Radisson a couple weeks ago. I liked it a lot; I think it should be rated at least 3*. Enjoy your stay.
  16. Bid 1 on 1/14/09: Tulsa, only Southern Hills Region. 3.5 star or above. 2 nights: 1/23/08 to 1/25/08 $42. DENIED Bid 2 on 1/14/09: Tulsa, Downtown and Southern Hills Region. 3.5 Star or above. 2 nights: 1/23/08 to 1/25/08 $47 ACCEPTED Subtotal: $94.00 Tax: $21.19 Total Charges: $115.19 This is price is $2 more than what Expedia charges for the 1* Days Inn up the street. PRICELINE FTW.
