  1. this is not stamford, ct so please move thread out of stamford, ct search.
  2. I bid $55 and was asked to raise it by $15 for a total of $70 I added 3 * level and raised bid to $60 which was accepted. Property charges Parking for $12 which is non negotiable. I had a great room with two queen beds. The furniture used is very nice wood furniture. THe bathtub was nice and big. my complaints came when I visited the restaurant. OMG... It was awful.. DO NOT EAT CHICKEN HERE> It tasted like spoiled fish. I ordered a swiss burger and rec'd a cheddar burger w/bacon. It doesnt end there either, my daughter's salad never arrived and my cheese cake was served to the other table. The other tables steak was served to a guest who didnt even order steaK!! It was a mess! THe tables were NASTY sticky and gross. I took my baby wipes and cleaned the tables as we were starving and I did not know the area. It was 930 at night and the neighborhood is not that great that I would go out at night around here. THe day clerk was super nice about it and gave me and my children free drinks and snacks in the morning. BE CAREFUL .. I would have been charged my bid of $60 plus tax all over again if this clerk didn't catch it and recharge Priceline for it. Good thing I didnt use the tv check out as I would have been stuck with the bill. I would stay here again though since the clerk as med not to hold my bad restaurant experience against them. It was a good choice that I was worried about till I got back to NJ turnpike and back on my way. It was no more than 5 min off the highway but I drove up from i-295 starting from delaware right before the bridge so I didnt have to pay that toll. and i was ;put back on the NJ turnpike at exit 6 or 7 so not too bad. It was exactly 2.5 hours from BMI where I started this trip from. (baltimore airport - Maryland) The ne
  3. While great features I can see some hotels messing up your billing with the add a room feature. Ive booked 2 rooms via hotwire and because of the way the clerk checked me out I got more than double billed for the rooms. I shouldnt have even rec'd a bill but the clerk at the Crown hotel in Hollywood Florida just couldnt understand that so he redid my billing over and over and couldnt get it down to zero. In the end I believe I had to pay an extra $39 or so just to get the heck out of the hotel. I won't even pay for two rooms at the same time via hotwire anymore because of this. Hope it works out though!
  4. I checked with hotwire which was selling this property for $116 per night. I tired $80 with an additional night but was asked to raise $20 so i tried $48 with these dates.. one night less and got approved. I think its awesome that I recieved the same property I was hoping for!! Forgot to add date 4/24 - 4/26/2011 $85.00 total 2 nights.... $199
  5. I thought this was a priceline bid but for hotwire its still a bit high. Hope YOU are happy with it though.
  6. Even with last minute reservations you can get good deals, and yes...even if your desperate. there are many rebid zones you could have had etc. What really matters though is that you got a place that you liked in the star level and area for a price YOU are willing to pay for and not just what THE HOTEL companies demand you pay for. As long as u feel you got what you needed then don't worry about what us more frugal spenders think. Im kinda jealous... I wish I had the money to even put in that kind of bid!!! Thanks for sharing your win with all of us and with good sense of humor too! THis should help others that put in higher bids for whatever reason, to go ahead and post their wins too. We shouldn't just post the ones we thought were good deals as all the post are very helpful for one reason or another.
  7. I bid $50, $55, $60 then added north miami airport and bid $65, all rejected. I closed browser and rebid for $55 with an additional night was accepted. I was bidding at the 3 star level and trying to get the Residence INN so I wouldn't have to pay for breakfast or parking. I was a bit upset that I forgot that they will upgrade your star level just to get your bid to go through. This is a 3.5 star level property. I didn't do enough research as now I do see that someone has just recently won this property just a few days ago for $60. Parking is $15 a night which I was trying to avoid by not going to the beach front properties. I did avoid the resort charge though, and saved $15 on parking since the beachfront properties are charging $30/night for parking. If i knew this in advance I wouldn't have even bothered getting a rental. This is just ridiculous. What I like about this property is that the pool and fitness room and parking is shared by the Marriott Courtyard so you have the mixture of the guest. I don't like that I have to pay for breakfast. Upon check in the front-desk person was very pleasant and apologetic that he could not offer double beds and included a roll-away bed for free with my king size bed. This is great since usually they do not give freebies to PRICELINE customers. Pool is heated and the jacuzzi is nice size. I dont think you got credit because I think I used a computer at the hotel at which betterbidding wasn't properly loading.
  8. I tried the extend a stay and it said it couldnt find the room for the same price but can offer the same room and hotel for $45 a night. THeir website was advertising $69. I declined and bid $34-36 using different dates wihich was declined. when I finally put in $38 it was accepted. I notice that more and more when I try to use the extend a stay by adding to my accepted bid that priceline declines and offers the same hotel at a much higher rate, usually just below the website rates. I know this is a way to make more money for priceline but I liked it when I could at least count on that rate up until checkout time.
  9. I started at $29 and then $30 and $31 all denied, closed window then bid on 2.5 star for $40 rejected, rebid 2 star at $35 rejected, changed my date by one night and rebid $36 which was accepted. The price for this hotel is between $59-$69 depending on dates. I had won this property a few nights ago for $39 and was trying to go lower and it worked. My daughter says they have refrigerator and microwave in rooms, two beds AND there is water in the pool! Breakfast is not included but you get a coupon for 10 percent off to go to Dennys next door which she was excited about. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $36.00 Subtotal: $108.00 Taxes & Fees: $17.94 Total Charges*: $125.94
  10. wanted to post this before i forgot. $39 for two nights. Hotel advertises for refrigerator microwave and pool but on these dates the pool was empty and the rooms omly had beds in them.
  11. Made multiple bids using 2-5 nights. Upward bid of $48 was not accepted at the 2 1/2 star level for Silver Springs nor for Ocala 21/2 or 3 stars. Seems the rates for the weekend are much higher than for the weekdays due to the horses. My bids of $30, $33 and $35 were rejected. I rebid adding zones. I did get a message that Priceline was working on the request when I put in the $35 bid but it came back as rejected about 15 minutes later. That is why I bid $39.Total cost for 4 nights is $179 It goes for $69 per night on Price line with their 30 percent discount sale and $83 on other travel sites for these dates. It says it has both a refrigerator and a microwave which is what my daughter needs but has not been able to get the past few stays. I hope this works out for her. THere is a 2.5 star property for $54 that I would have used if I could not get anything via priceline. I'm unable to identify that property as of yet, though.
  12. I bid up to $53 for each night seperately and got rejected. I closed the browser and reopemed an bid at $51 for both 2 1/2 stars and 3 star adding North haven to hamden and Brandford. I was offered to bid again if I bid another $15 to $66 dollars I rejected and closed the browser then reopened the page and bid $53 for 3 star which was rejected and then $55 for 2.5 stars and got accepted. The rates for these nights kept on going up and up as the time went by. I had started bidding at around 5 pm and by 7 pm many properties had doubled their rates with some going even higher than that. I would not normally bid this high but felt I should take it because I did not want to be w/o a hotel room and since I didn't have the nicest stay at the Orange Marriot courtyard, I didn't want to stay there again. Now I really wish I just stayed there but... you live and learn. This is a property that I do not see on the list. 2 nights @ $55.00 Subtotal: $110.00 Taxes & Fees: $22.14 Total Charges*: $132.14 The rates for these nights are $120 and $119. Honestly can't see anyone paying these rates to stay here. If Iknew it was THIS hotel I was bidding on I wouldn't have bothered and would have just bid for brandford. Prieceline gave me directions to get to this hotel from West Haven that took me in a circle! It took me over 35 minutes to drive here with no traffic using there directions. Again, doing research is important. What I like about this hotel: It has a pool and a hot tub What I do not like about this hotel: THe pictures showed refrigerator and microwave in room but there is none in the regular rooms, only the "suites" have them and the rates for those rooms are $169 per night and those rooms sleep 6 with 2 queen beds and a pull out couch. THe hallways are tight and the rooms are also a bit tight near the bathroom and the closet is so tiny it is hard to use. THe clerk here went above and beyond his duty and helped me to feel comfortable here. THis hotel has been transfomed from an outside motel to an indoor hotel. You access your rooms via the lobby. I was given a room on the first floor due to having a small child with me which was very nice of the desk clerk. WHen I requested clean sheets I was not given any problems and was given the option to change rooms which I didn't. The sheets here are sent out to be cleaned and they have both hair and dark round black and brown specks. It took a few tries but I finally got some clean sheets that were acceptable and it was comforting that the clerk was as grossed out as I was when I saw hair on the sheets and did not minimize my complaints. Free internet, Breakfast is not included but you can purchase it via a small cafe in the lobby which offers Tazo tea which is Stgarbucks brand of tea. I am sorry that I was unable to use your link to bid or place my winning bid. I tried and tried but kept getting "OOPS we can't connect you " from Google chrome. Eventually, I had to go ahead and make my purchase. Sorry if u didn't get the credit as I try to make it a point to use your links because I like your site and it has saved me so much money as well as given me insight into my travel purchases that I wouldn't get anywhere else. :)
  13. I should have either asked someone here or researched better because the basic things I look for in a hotel stay was not to be had here. They offer no winter swimming pool, only seasonal outdoor pool and they offer no free breakfast. You can purchase breakfast lunch and dinner via a restaurant located in the lobby during certain hours of the day. I was told by the front desk clerk that the priceline rooms had two beds. I asked her what size were they and shockingly she said "not as small as a double or full size bed, but not as big as a queen size bed" After telling her that there were no in between sized bed she insisted that not only that there were such beds but that also those were the size beds they had here. I previously read online that the beds were queen sized and now that I am in the room and measured the bed I can tell you that for sure these are queen sized beds. Something I would think that someone working in a hotel should know. She also told me that the rooms with one bed in them were King sized beds and much larger and much more expensive. She said something to the effect of " THe King size rooms cost a very lot more than the rooms with two beds in them, they are just so much more expensive and much larger, that we can't give them to priceline customers, those rooms cost so much more, its not even worth it..Like one night is equal to my rent, like that much more!" The worse thing in the room was the uncleanliness of the beds,... they were totally gross. The hotel's appearance overall is nice but when I turned down the sheets. eww gross, there was hair everywhere and blood stains on both the sheet, cover and mattress itself. Not just on one of the beds but both of them in the first room I was given. THe next room had some gross hair but less of it and some urine and rust stains on one bed and some pooh stains on the other mattress cover. I wiped and scrubbed both beds and had housekeeping replace ALL the linens on the bed but they said they only had ONE clean mattress cover so i could only cover one bed and the other one I used an extra comforter to cover the bed. Even my daughter was grossed out and she does not gross out easily. There were actually small round brown dots on both the mattresses and surrounding areas such as the headboard and the box spring cover. I don't take it too seriously when some people post on their reviews that they saw a abed bug because it could have been one or it could have been a million other things unless they actually go into detail and say what they saw and what they did about the issue so I won't say they were bedbugs. They were something though. I took pictures of the bloodstains and from what I know about bedbugs they leave bloodstains. i did not see any live bugs in either room so something else could have been the cause of those stains but I would not stay in room 140 until or unless they steam clean both mattresses and thoroughly clean the rest of that room. What I did like about this room was that it was facing the courtyard and the pool. THe snow was not plowed so you really couldnt use the balcony but you could see how nice it would have been if you were able to. There were two chairs right outside the doors and I could just imagine how nice it would look under that snow. Being on the first floor, if the snow was shoveled you could have walked around and it would have been nice. The next room the clerk assigned was right across from the original room which tells me how little this clerk knows about bedbugs, their causes and their migration habits. i'd prefer a room in a different part of the hotel but didn't want to continue to make a big stink and just wanted to settle in. I took it upon myself to wash and scrub the mattresses and the headboards. I did see some small brown dots, but not as many as the other room and they were not moving. I placed my suitcase in the bathtub and told my daughter not to leave anything in the drawers. I set up the iron board as a place for her to put her things up. Its a shame because the other room had a better view and this room is the view of the parking lot. Its hard to get comfortable in this room. This room had no balcony or outdoor seating area, just a view of the parking lot. I believe she assigned this room because it is used less often so less likely to be as dirty as the other room. (I may be giving her too much credit though, but that is what both me and my daughter thought of as to why this would be a better room to choose after what we saw in the room across from this one) What irritates me the most is the clerk's attitude. She came across as if she could care less. It seemed for some reason that she was not at all shocked or concerned about what I found in that room. Either she knows something that us customers do not or she really could care less. she found it very hard to be helpful to other guest and even to a worker sent in by the company , She actually walked away from me after seeing that I was waiting to ask her a question. Grr. Otherwise , when I did have her attention, this women was pleasant to talk to, even a bit entertaining. I think they need to hire better staff though, or retrain this one. She said she worked at a different hotel in new haven which I will not name but her lack of customer service leaves me to wonder if she left voluntarily or not. I am not a type of person that usually has any difficulty with hotel employees, actually just the opposite is true, so I am just left perplexed about this one. Its too bad because this could have been a nice stay. I did eat at the Outback steakhouse which is in front of the hotel. easy to walk to from the hotel. THe food there was very good. My daughter loved the ribs and ate all of her food which for me says it all since it is hard for her to ever eat all of the food given to her on a plate. I won't abandon the idea of coming here again completely, but I won't try again until the pool is open.
  14. I won this on the first bid. The rates for this night is $59 . This hotel is not on the list that I can see. While I knew this hotel was an option for the area, I was still hoping against hope that I would get the Hampton Inn, west-haven. Not that it has ever been reported and anyway the rate for that hotel was double for this night at $118 so I knew going in that it was not as likely. I was trying to avoid the Marriott in Orange because they have no pool during the winter and breakfast is not included. This hotel will have both a pool and breakfast included so at least I will have the amenities that I was looking for. I know from reading the reviews that they only offer rooms with one beds here for priceline customers but you can upgrade to two beds for $10. I think it is a bit funny that some hotels like the Marriott courtyard offer two beds in a room as a standard with the upgrade room being a room with one bed, and other hotels like this Best Western and the Springhill suites in milford offer one bed as a standard with an upgrade being 2 beds, and yet still even others offer both, not caring whether you need one or two beds. our Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $35.00 Subtotal: $35.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.61 Total Charges*: $46.61
  15. The Ramada in Stratford is actually in the Bridgeport area or zone, according to the Priceline maps. You will not get this hotel by trying via the stratford-milford zone. Just thought I'd let you know as this can be confusing since the name says Stratford Ramada but it is in the Bpt area. :)
  16. Its a nice clean hotel right off exit 35 on I-95 in milford. Parking is free but a bit cramped. Breakfast is free and included, which includes hot things like scrambled eggs, waffles, sausages, bagels, and cold items like froot loop cereal and corn pops, my personal favorite. It has both a pool and a hot tub and both are heated nicely. The rooms have a microwave, refrigeraor, sink, coffee pot, king size bed and a pull out couch. The bed was the most comfy bed that Ive slept in, and Ive slept in many! I wanted to stay longer just because the bed was so comfy. Today the hot tub was nice and hot too! My children and I really enjoyed our stay. :) Negative things that happened during our stay: First, I noticed only one bed and a pull out couch so I called front desk and requested two beds. While they do have rooms with two beds in them, I was told I could not have one since i was a Priceline reservation. He actually stated that I paid "much less for my room" which is just an assumption and happens to be not true. I only go a $20 discount, Then the clerk acknowledged he had no idea what I paid for the room but was also apologetic that he could not switch me. I settled in and after a while felt very cold and as time wen on I was FREEZING, I called front desk at 1 am and complained. They sent someone o fix the heat. The air came out blasting freezing for abou 20 minutes and then finally warmed up. THe heat never did keep the room warm until it was time for us to leave. I guess the heater was unplugged or something. During the night, I came down for refreshments and the clerk recognized me and my children and did not charge me for my drinks. That was completely nice of him, I'm guessing becuase he couldn't help me get a room with two beds., THe couch was actually a very nice pull out couch with a not too flimsy coil mattress. My children all slept with me though and we were all comfy!! wish I could take both the bed and comforter home wih me. THe sheets were very clean the room was clean only one area around the sink which is outside the bathroom that needed to be cleaned better. Oh and did i mention that I jst loved the bed! :)
  17. I started bidding a few days ago and went as high as $52 for 3 star in both Shelton and Milford area. Every time I had the option to bid at the 2.5 star level I would choose a lower price than what I had previously used for 3 star and got rejected every time. THe only tiime I had increased my bid was this time which I went from a $49 3* offer to a $50 two and 1/2 star offer and got accepted for one day. I purposely choose not to bid over $55 when bidding shelton area because I wanted to avoid going to the Marriott in Trumbull. Nothing wrong with the hotel, just that when I want to stay in milford or shelton I'd prefer not to stay there. I was honesly hoping to get either the Residence INN in milford or the Hyatt in milford. Ive never rec'd this hotel when bidding 2.5 stars before and have always been upgraded to 3 star when bidding in Milford so while I knew it COULD happen, I just didnt really expect it. THough i have noticed that since they built a new Hilton Garden inn in Milford, the hotel wins are much harder to predict in the 3 star milford zone. Technically there is another 2.5 star hotel in the area but have yet to see anyone win it. THe home wood suites in stratford, but you never know! This was previously a 2 star property. our Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $50.00 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.69 Total Charges*: $63.69 This hotel is in the same parking lot as the Residence Inn, and the Red RooF Inn.
  18. This is the courtyard in Orange and not Yale, can you please fix this.
  19. while my bid was $46, I had $4 bonus dollars so it was $50 with the bonus money. The taes and fees are higher because they are based on a $50 bid, while priceline pays for the $4 increase per day, you are responsible for the taes that increasing the bid incurrs. (a bit sneaky but fair) Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $46.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 5 Room Subtotal: $230.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $32.95 (USD) Total Room Cost: $262.95 (USD) I wanted to extend the nights from my priceline winning bid at the Holiday inn epress but when I chose that option PRICELINE increased my bid to $70/night and with taes and fees 4 nights was $339 or close to that. I guess if I really needed not to move I would have taken it but since savings is more important than staying in one place, I had my daughter get up and move to the net property.. Bids up to $54 were not accepted at either the 3 star level ocala or the 2.5 star level silver springs, for 2 star Ocala south , when i bid 47, i was requested to raise my bid $15-$58, and I declined. thank goodness since it was only 2 star properties and I got to that page without double checking. I then used both Ocala and Silver springs 2.5 and 3 star and finally got this bid accepted after the four nights at $45 with $4 bonus was rejected. I think the dates are key. It seems that in Silver springs you can get a room easier mon-thur but then have to try Ocala for the weekend. Bids on more than one night are harder to get than bids for one night at a time. (just my observations). I really wanted the Holiday inn Conference (3*) in Ocala to try out those temperpedic beds... maybe next time. its for my daughter so she just better appreciate it. I like that breakfast is included and that it is only 8 miles down the road from the hotel she is currently at. Of course I used your PRICELINE link to do my bidding and winning!
  20. My dsughteer enjoyed her stay. She wanted a smoking room so she traded the two bed room that was origially asigned for a one bed smoking room. They have a third person traveling so it was a bit awkward sleeping but that was their choice, I am guessing they didn't have any two bed rooms with no smoking. THe pool and breakfast was quite enjoyable though.
  21. First bid of $44 . Priceline gave me one more chance to bid if I increased my bid from $15 to $59. I declined the offer , closed the page and then started over, adding Homosassa Springs as a free rebid. My $48 bid was accepted. This was after trying many bids via Ocala and not getting any bites up to $48 for both 3 star and 2.5 stars. 1 room for FOUR NIGHTs Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $48.00 Subtotal: $192.00 Taxes & Fees: $26.88 Total Charges*: $218.88 I am so glad those bids were rejected because I am bidding for my daughter and while taking a break during my bidding process, my daughter asked me if she could stay at the Holiday Inn Express again. as I had won her a bid a few nights ago for $39 in Virginia for her travel down to Florida and she liked that hotel very much. This Hotel is pretty new from what I understand from other reviews and with 98 percent recommendation for this Hotel I am very pleased to be sending her here. She is currently at the Travelodge in Ocala, which I won through Hotwire at $30 and though she had no complaints she asked if I could get her a room with a refrigerator and microwave. I am so happy I can get it for her w/o paying the rack rates. It was on Priceline for $77 but when I rechecked the price it went up to $83 and I saw it earlier in the day for $99, On there site it is currently $78, which I would never have paid even though it is a reasonable rate for this hotel. There are many hotels that are cheaper in the area from $35 and up which you can book directly through the hotel but this is a better deal since the property is newer and offers more ammenities. I love that breakfast is included because then I know she at least will eat a good breakfast every day! There also was a 2.5 star property on Hotwire in the Ocala area for $52 for these nights but I didnt take it since I couldn't guarantee a refrigerator and a microwave. I think that would have been the La Quninta Inn which on their site states that only some of the rooms have microwave and fridge so I didn't take the chance. I will comment further on how she liked the hotel after her stay is complete.
  22. Got it on first bid tonight at $46. I bid last week trying to get this property at $40 and $42 and those were rejected. I have bid in the past for this room and have been rejected repeatedly up to $59 so I am extremely happy to be staying here for a price that I would pay for. I will post a review of the property after my stay.
  23. Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Rate per night: $30.00 Nights: 2 Rooms: 1 Tax recovery charges & fees: $11.00 Subtotal: $71.00
  24. $35 Accepted at first bid. I was tempted to go lower since the rate was $64 for this property for these dates but was persuaded a bit by the red words stating my bid was not high enough. My bid was still considered low but it was accepted. Total cost with taxex and fees Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $35.00 Subtotal: $35.00 Taxes and Services Fees: $11.59 Total Charges*: $46.59 After research, this was one of the properties I knew I could get. I like that it is close to I-95 and includes breakfast since it is for my daughter and son in law who are traveling to florida. I figure that is just less money for them to spend if breakfast is included. THis will be 8 hours away from there previous stop in Va and just 3 1/2 hours to Orlando when driving I-95.
  25. $39 was Accepted on first bid, I saw someone else bid $50 for this property on an earlier date, so I decided to go lower. Hotel ad price was $99 via Priceline for this date. I chose this for the free breakfast and because it is a newer hotel right off I-95. I bid for my daughter who is going to FLorida. Hope she likes it. Price was definitely right! Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $39.00 Subtotal: $39.00 Taxes and Services Fees: $11.80 Total Charges*: $50.80
