  1. I have never stayed there, but drove by there many times, it is right across from the shopping mall (Landsdown Park), with tons of restaurants near by and it is probably a 10 minutes walk to the Canada Line Sky train station.
  2. Just want to share my experience, tried the $20 trick when I check in last night. Hand the Driver Licence and Credit Card to the front desk and laid the $20 on the couter. It was really quiet the time I check in, it was only me and the front desk clerk, no one else is in the lobby area. I politely asked if there were any complimentary upgrade to a suite available, and I looked at the $20 bill, and the front desk clerk looked at the $20 bill. For about 3 seconds there, I think she was really contemplating whether she will take the money, or she doesn't really know why the $20 was laying on the counter. At the end, she didn't take the money, and just told me to call Priceline to see whether they will give me the upgrade. I guess that's her way of saying no without putting everyone in an awkward situation. I'm curious as to why I didn't get the upgrade whether it is (a) Poor technique on my part, first time trying it or (B ) Hotel policy does not allow her to do so or (c ) She doesn't have a clue as to what's going on with the $20 trick. Anyways, no harms done as I didn't really lose anything by trying this out.
  3. I am thinking of trying the $20 trick on my upcoming trip to Orlando. I wasn't too thrill with my win at the www.ramadaorlandocelebration.com. But I'm thinking of trying to turn a bad situation into a better situation if front desk is willing to upgrade me to a suite. Do you think this is a worthwhile try?
  4. Used the PRICELINE link on this site to make the reservation. I guess sometimes you win and sometimes, you lose. I guess this time I lost when I got the Ramada Orlando Celebration Hotel & Conference Center for $25/night on first try. Based on most recent winning, I was hoping that I would get Country Inn and Suites (maingate) with this 2.5* try. Except I got the Ramada where they also charges a resort fee of $10. In hind sight, should have gone the Hotwire route. :) Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $25.00 Subtotal: $125.00 Taxes & Fees: $24.90 Total Charges*: $149.90
  5. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Started bidding for 2.5* Markham at $44. Bid reject, offered free rebid for additional $12. Add Scarborough and rebid at $46. Thinking that Delta will be $50+ based on previous winning bid, and hoping would get Markham Holiday Inn. Unfortunately won the Delta Toronto East for $46. Not keen at all with paying for $12+ tax parking and $11 for internet. :) :) Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$46.00 Subtotal: US$92.00 Taxes & Fees: US$20.28 Total Charges: US$112.28

Switch date to July 11 to July 13, won on first try. Holiday Inn Hotel And Suites Toronto Markham - 3 star. 8. To put closure to this thread, after bidding upto $47 for a 2* in the area, I noticed that Super 8 Motel chain is offering a $8.88 promotion. Reserved a room at their Super 8 Motel - Dania/Fort Lauderdale Arpt property for $8.88.
  9. Thanks for the replies. I am still debating on this one whether stay the night and park at the hotel or drives down and park at the garage at the airport. The flights leaves at 1pm, and I should be at the Airport an hour before departure. So I need to check in at 12pm. I am located in Ottawa, ON. Googles tell me the drive is approximately 3.5 hours. Though, I will be coming down on Black Friday, so border traffic may be bad.
  10. Since there are no guarantee as to what rental agency that I will get and whether I will be able to drop off another location. I have decided to use Dollar Rent A Car. Everything included is approximately $30 for a compact with the Discount code KISSE used.
  11. Thanks, I just got the win this morning. As for my other thread, I'm up to $45 and still no luck. I will be trying another bid again tomorrow.
  12. Hey Canabiz, yes, we are all here to try to catch a deal. I also got the Holiday Inn Miami Airport West (3255 Northwest 87th Avenue) for Nov 28-29, 2008 for $50. Tried lowered amount, but they all got rejected. So I suppose your first bid happens to be the lowest bid that they accept. Regards.
  13. Thanks for the tips. $45 for 2.5* have been rejected. Can you tell me besides the Airport zone, which other zone can I use for rebid purposes?
  14. I will like to try the least expensive 2.5* near the Miami airport, as I will probably want a place where they offer free parking. Thanks.
  15. I tried bidding for it again, and I'm upto $37 and still getting rejected. I will try again at $39 tomorrow. Hopefully, I will score something in that range.
  16. Opps, didn't know that, I'll cancel my existing booking and rebook using the link provided. I'm planning to drop off the rental the morning of 11/29 if I am staying in the Fort Lauderdale area or other areas in Miami. Though, I can also drop it off on the 28th if I'm staying Downtown Miami. Thanks
  17. I will be flying out the next morning, and returning on Dec 7. So I will need a hotel where they provide shuttle service to the airport and parking for 10 days. What type of bidding strategy should I follow to find a hotel for the above dates. Thanks
  18. I have booked a rental directly through Dollar Rent a car as they allow me to pick up the car at FLL and drop it off at MIA. What would be the best bidding stratgey for the Nov 28 - 29, 2008 portion for my pre-cruise? Now with a rental, I suppose I can stay anywhere between FLL and MIA. Preferably close to either airport or the Port of Miami. My minimum requirement will be a 2* though, a 2.5* will be nice. Some place that offer free parking will also be a plus. Budget will be under $60. Thanks
  19. My maximum bid will be $55, is that reasonable? Yes, I will be using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links provided. Thanks
  20. This is for my post cruise portion of my stay in Florida. I will have a rental with me driving back from the Port of Miami and returning it at the FLL Airport. The flight leaves at 6am in the morning, so it will be preferable if I'm close to the airport. So what is the best way in going about this. What price should I start? Thanks!
  21. Not exactly the hotel or the location that I was hoping for. I was hoping for something in Scarborough rather than Pickering. Oh well, I suppose that's priceline, sometime things doesn't really pan out.
  22. Yes, that is an option. However, I will be traveling with a 2 years old. I have never travel with him this far for this long a day. We will probably start our day at around 9-10am, to catch a flight from Syracuse, so by the time we get in to FLL, he would have been already been on the road for 9+ hours. I just thought it may be easier for him, or more for us, to get to the hotel rather than being in the car for another 45 minutes with most likely a cranky toddler. Though in the big scheme of things, 45 minutes may not be that bad.
  23. The rental will be for Nov 28-29. A day after thanksgiving. I will be flying into Fort Lauderdale on the 28th, rent the car to the hotel, the next day, it will be to Miami. I figure this may be easier than to catch the shuttle from airport to hotel, and than to get a limo ride from the hotel to the port. Or will that option be easier? I will probably need a compact, as we will only be carrying 2 pieces of luggage. And the prices ranges from $54 to $85.
