Friends, I am finding the same glitch with Priceline! It is now painfully slow to get a response on a bid. Hotwire is now so much faster! Hope Priceline understands that a customer delayed could possibly be a customer lost!:)

Thanks! As a suggestion next time. Since you have a couple of weeks til your stay, you could have rebid in 3 days in increments of $2 or $3 (ignoring the counteroffer). Also, a second family account would have worked nicely here for immediate bidding! I pride myself on getting very close to the amount Priceline paid for the room. That's the fun of the game! I'm sure ThereUAre can add more on ignoring the counteroffer. :)

How did you make the switch from Orlando to Miami with the tight Priceline restrictions and conditions? Was there a fee? Tks! :)

I am there right now. Not one of the better Marriott's (sort of tired) but very friendly staff. Rooms are nice but $1/local call. Shuttle to AP every 30 mins. Oh, the parking conditions have changed here. Now they have a fly-park program for $4/day. The normal going rate elsewhere in the area is $6/day. Still shocked that I got a double upgrade from PL. From a bid on a 1 star to a 3 star hotel upgrade for $22/nite. :)

Oh yes! Orlando is perhaps the easiest location to book last minute (up to 6 p.m. of day of arrival) on PL there is and at a super great rate! Do check the going rates on the hotel's website. Do some homework. Check Orbitz, Travelaxe, Travelocity, hotwire, etc. Do let us know what you find! :)

I suspect that we all want to hear more about the $20 Trick! Anyone else have any suggestions? I've used this trick in Thailand and Turkey and it worked miracles! :)

That is a big beautiful area with some very fine hotels. Please give us some ideas as to your prices range and preferred cities. Have you checked some of the hotel websites for internet specials? Also, take a look at Orbitz, Travelocity, & Travelaxe? We love the Hyatt Regency in Bonita Springs!:)

Thanks! Yes I have consulted TravelAxe, Sidestep, Expedia, Orbitz, Qixo, Travelocity, my personal travel agent, etc. and have booked a backup ($45) at the Ramada in OceanView. I don't believe there is anything special happening in this area during this week.:)

Having considerable trouble getting a 2.5* or better in the Norfolk/VA Bch area (not including Downtown Norfolk or Portsmouth Zones) for 1 nite--3 June. I have taken bidding up to $70 with no bites! Not even a message to add $$ and PL would try again!! Is area of Tidewater Virginia just not participating in PL? Any help would be appreciated! :)

Yes you did and thanks! I'm still in shock! There are other gitches happening on the PL site. PL/US is not verifying all the time the 3 digit security codes that are inputted on their secure website!! Beware! :)

Ausjtl, give us an idea where exactly in Florida and possible dates so we can take a closer look. The more details you can provide, the better! From my experience with PL I save a minimum of 50% on hotel rooms when I book thru PL. I just booked a room at the Marriott--Orlando airport thru PL and saved a huge 76%!!! :)

Thanks! This is the first time I can recall that I have received a DOUBLE UPGRADE from PL. This hotel and many of the other hotels around MCO allow FREE parking for up to 2 weeks! :)
