  1. Yeah, I will definatly keep pounding the pavement on securing a 2* somewhere nearby to San Diego. But I have yet to check for 3 adults/0 children so I should try that route as well.
  2. You raise a good point and if so, when is a good time to grab some deals?
  3. My max bid has been for $41 a night at a 2* anywhere in the san diego area and I've done it for back to back days now.
  4. Yes for those dates and it ended up this one: Hyatt Regency Chicago 151 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, Illinois, USA 60601
  5. I've bid a 2* at 40 a night across all zones to no success. How can I bid strategically?
  6. Ended up utilizing the PRICELINE link and was able to succesfully place a $59 bid for the Hyatt Regency while I'm in town. Much delight on my end!
  7. Hey there, I'm checking HOTWIRE and I see a 2 star going in Escondido for $49 a night. I was looking around PRICELINE and dont know where would be the cheapest spot of San Diego and the surrounding areas for a cheap hotel room. My friend and I don't need anything fancy, we're there for baseball and the city, not the room. Any ideas? Thank you! Dates of stay are July 31st-August 3rd.
  8. Well it's actually the reversal, when I book it for 3 people the hotel comes up. When I do less than 3 it disappears, why is that?
  9. Yeah, we might not have 3 people in the room and when I do a search for the same dates with just 2 adults that previous 2* drops off? Any idea why this is? But yes, I'm feeling I'm going to go for that 3* for $26 a night as I can see which one it is. Thanks! :)
  10. Looking to go to Downers Grove for a little drive in movie festival going on in the area and scope out a 2* for 3 people on Hotwire. Looking to book for 6/19-6/21. Don't see any matches on the board here and it displays the following the amenities: Pool, Comp Breakfast, Golf, Fitness Center, Business Center, and High Speed Internet. Anyone have any ideas at all?
  11. Purchased for $38 a night and had the following amenities: Pool, High Speed, Breakfast, Fitness, Business. Looking at the web site it looks like a great place and I'm excited to have gotten this for such a steal!
  12. I actually just bought this one for May 22-25th and it turned out to be the South St Paul Hotel and Conference center. I'm glad I did as it was $38 a night for everything it comes with. Looks really nice from their website. Cheers!
  13. Hey there, just went on PRICELINE and threw in a bid for $25 for 12/29/08-12/31/08 and was accepted on first attempt for the Extended Stay America Minneapolis - Eden Prarie!! No frills here but just need a place to lie my head while in town! Thanks!
  14. Didn't book this hotel, although I'm looking at one in Brooklyn Center currently.
  15. In the end, fiscally I just couldn't pull off this trip. But thanks to those who helped though! :)
  16. Looking at a 2 night stay in this area and Hotwire bounces back with a 2.5* hotel for $39 a night with the following amenities: Shuttle Restaurant Fitness Center Pool High Speed Golf Nearby I'm lost as I'm not finding any matching hotel when I search google for hotels with matching amenities. Thanks! :)
  17. Hey there, looking to go to San Diego from 8/12-8/19 and am getting a 2 star Hotel with the following ammenities: comp breakfast, pool, laundry, and high speed internet. I was looking and don't see a match up for San Diego/Chula Vista, I was browsing the sand diego however and saw a 2* w/ the same amenities that was the La Quinta Inn. Would one think that the hotel I'm finding and the one listed on here are one and the same? Thanks! :)
  18. Just was looking for a decent alternative so we could see what a true night in NYC is like. If I read correctly all the buses and transit to get back to our car would cease around 1 am. I would like to see what a full night and a morning in NYC would be like, as cheesy as it sounds.
  19. Kid? I'm sorry I come across as sounding that way but by no means am I a "Kid", thank you for the complement though. If you're that concerned about it then and you have legit reason to be as you do live there, then give me you're opinion on this one: this one I mean it's ranked as the #2 place to stay in NYC for alternative housing. I also question how do people drink in NYC then? By no means am I going out to get obliterated but why would I also want to put myself in a situation in which I would have to drive back to my hotel? This action is the dumbest move I could as I could wind up a)killing someone b)being pulled over/arrested/DUI all that bit or c)killing myself and buddy in an accident. I'm realizing I may have a few more than what the legal limit is in NYC and am precautioning myself so as to not be dumb enough to place myself in that situation I previously spoke about. I understand this is a large city and needs to be attended to, I live in Milwaukee, this is by no means NYC but this isn't exactly the safest join either, we have a higher crime rate for our area than NYC for petes sake. Read the studies, we're in the top ten for ratio of size to crime rate, I work in an emergency room here, trust me I see the violence that occurs and realize why it is you don't get "trashed", get obnoxius, and run around a city you don't know. Why is it I want to drink to excess and then drive? To me that move is stupid, the safe alternative is a place to stay and I also don't want to drop $150 on a hotel room for one night, a hostel is a better alternative to the prices and I read all the reviews I could possibly pull on this on here. I still have time to cancel and did that legitamitly pending what the feeling from the nice folks at the board here thought that do live in the area. I highly regard you're opinion and stance on this topic I've created by I am by no means going out to get obliterated, haven't done that since I was younger and have no need to but I also don't need to be driving after I've drank. I'm going or trying to go out that night to a bar called the Blind Tiger and if I feel that unsafe with my friend taking the subway, we'll plunk down the money for a taxi that can drop us right at the door. Please understand I'm not in NYC to drink to excess and be harmed, this isn't why I booked the trip, but I also did not book the trip to lock myself in a closet and do nothing. We're all adults and make the decisions we do based on what we would like to do, now those don't always flow with what we SHOULD do. I sincerly apologize if I offended anyone and apologize to the board if this is too much for it or dosen't fit what should be posted here but I just felt that my thoughts on the trip out here are being mistaken and used incorrectly. This "kid" just wants to be safe when in town. Thoughts?
  20. So my friend and I were mulling the idea of taking the train in and staying at a hostel for one of the nights so we can really hit the bars and not worry about getting back in time and also enjoying ourselves at the yankees game. I was looking into this one: http://www.hostelsclub.com/hostel-en-5776.html What does everyone think about this idea? Thanks! :)
  21. So i used the PRICELINE link and ended up getting a $69 bid accepted for our nights with the COuntry Inn and Suites Newark Airport, which I did stay in last time and was very nice. Now, here's my main concern, I was going to fall back on the 2.5 star with La Quinta CLifton and do the park and ride but when I stayed here last time we did the shuttle to the airport and the NJ transit trains into NYC and back which ended up being $30 each way on em. What are the cheaper alternatives from getting from this hotel into NYC? I know some people have suggested a path train? We DO have a car at our disposable for this too to boot! Anyone able to help me out with this? Thanks!
  22. Hi there everyone, I was looking at 5/20-5/24 in the Secaucus area and came back with a 2.5* w/ Comp Breakfast, Pool, Laundry, and High speed internet for $59 a night! Anyone have any clue on what this one may be?? La Quinta Secacus? Thanks for any help, I'm going to book in a few hours!
  23. Will definatly go through those for PRICELINE, my understanding is that the 320 bus runs from the hotel to the NY Station?
