  5. We have just returned from our great win!!!! This was our best win on Priceline ever. The Courtyard is a new hotel that is well kept and has a friendly staff. When we asked for a room away from the highway, they happily accomodated us. We couldn't have been happier with this win. If you go to this hotel, note that they do not have their own driveway. It is shared with SYMS clothing store. The sign on the driveway says "Syms." So, don't be confused.
  6. Thank you for the tip on the finding the driveway. This area of NJ is a real challenge to drive around. This area even confuses the GPS. I have a question. I bid in the Paramus Hackensack neighborhood on PRICELINE, but you changed my post to say my win was in Saddle Brook-Teaneck area with Paramus-Hackensack in parentheses. Saddlebrook and Teneck are two different choices on Priceline that I did not select. Why do you post it as a Saddle Brook-Teaneck win? You have done this before, so I assume there is a reason. However, I find it confusing. If someone is looking to try to win this hotel, they might think they need to bid in the Saddle Brook and/or Teaneck areas. This just has me confused.
  7. Hotwire is showing a 4 star in Monterey for July 28-30 for $129. Amenities are: Oceanfront Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Access Near Golf Spa Services Any idea which hotel this might be? Thanks, Mary
  8. Was hoping for the Hyatt Place, but am happy with the Courtyard. The website says it is new. Although $52 is a great price considering the web rate is $149, I feel like I overbid since my first bid was taken. And yes, I did use your PRICELINE link. :)
  9. Could you clarify what you mean when you say that "hotwire doesn't give TripAdvisor stats." I will be sure to use your link if I purchase through PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.
  10. Amenities: Breakfast Pool Internet Access Golf Nearby
  11. We needed a room at the last minute. I was unable to use a "free" bid as the only zone that did not include the star level I wanted, was not available. We often need a room in this area and we have paid between $50 and $70 over the last few years. We decided to start bidding higher than usual since we needed to secure a room that night. We bid $65 for the Paramus Hackensack area and we won the Hyatt Place. I was very excited as this is our favorite place to stay in the area. There is one thing I want to mention. The Hyatt Place is in Fairlawn, NJ. When I started the bidding process in Priceline, I said I was looking for a room in Fairlawn. The website told me: "Please note: Fair Lawn, New Jersey is located within the Saddle Brook - Teaneck, NJ area." I knew I had won the Hyatt Place in Fairlawn before with a bid for the Paramus Hackensack area. I just stuck to what I did before and I won the Hyatt Place in Fairlawn by bidding in the Paramus Hackensack area.
  12. We enjoyed our stay here very much. It is on the very busy Route 17, but we had a nice quiet room on the first floor at the back of the hotel. Our room was a non-smoking (as we requested before we arrived) queen. The room appeared to be recently updated, except for the bathroom sink. The drapes, carpets and bedding appeared to be newer. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, desk and chair. There was a business center with two computers for guest use. We were visiting relatives in the area and found the hotel to be very suitable for our needs
  13. We have won this hotel in the past. It is a nice place, but you should try to request the first floor. We had a lovely room on the second floor. One evening there was a brief (thank goodness) rain storm. The roof is very tinny sounding and it sounded like it was raining in our room. Had it been an all night rain, we likely would have had difficulty sleeping. Perhaps that was why they left a DVD which was one of those you listen to, to get yourself to sleep. :)
  14. We just got back and actually we were very pleased. The desk clerk that checked us in was very friendly and welcoming. There were two computers off the lobby for guest use. Our room was great. I called ahead for a non-smoking room and they did oblige us. The room was a non-smoking queen. It did appear to be recently updated, except for the bathrom sink, which does need replacing. The rest of the bathroom was quite lovely. The carpeting, drapes and bedding all seemed newer. The room had a desk, chair, frig and microwave. It was one of the cleaner rooms we have stayed in during our recent travels. We were assigned a room in the back of the hotel which was very quiet. We were visiting relatives in the area, so the location was perfect for us. We were very happy with this hotel.
  15. I remembered to bid this time using the PRICELINE link on the homepage for Priceline. :) Starting Bidding on August 13 for the Paramus Area. Bid up to $60. Nothing accepted. Continued bidding today, August 14. Tried $65 for Paramus and was rejected. Added Ridgefield still at $65 and was rejected. Added Saddle Brook-Hasbrouck Heights still at $65 and was awarded the Holiday Inn in Hasbrouck Heights. I am not thrilled as the reviews of this place indicate it is an old worn out lodging. Some have felt it was a one and a half star. So, we will see. If it is clean, I will be okay. It beats the posted price on their website of $172 and up. Throughout the bidding process I kept at 3 Stars.
  16. Started bidding for a 3 star for Paramus Hackensack and bid $55. It was rejected. Added 2.5* and kept the bid the same at $55. Won the Hyatt Place in Fairlawn. We have stayed there before and were very happy there. Feel like we got a good bargain. Web rate is $189 and AAA rate is $179, so we are happy. :)
  17. Initially tried to book in the Paramus Area. Started bidding at $60 for 2.5*, bid up to $80, but was rejected. Added on the Saddle Brook-Hasbrouck Heights area and dropped bid to $70. It was upgraded to 3* and accepted. Started bidding on the 24th, won the bid on the 25th.
  18. Our stay at the Radisson in Saddle Brook NJ was satisfactory. The hotel is older with some updates. The staff was friendly and we were treated well. Our room was next to the elevator. I am told this is common for Priceline customers. The first night we heard nothing. It was a quiet day. However, the second night we did hear the elevator a lot. The windows of this hotel are poor insulators. The hotel is right next to the Garden State Parkway. We were warned on Trip Advisor to get a room away from the highway. I was grateful for the tip. Even the other side was noisy, but I am sure it was quieter than the side facing the highway. The hotel has the smallest bathrooms I have experienced in a motel/hotel, but is was clean and came with nice amenities of soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. The Radisson is a converted Howard Johnsons, so there is not much that can be done about the bathroom size. The room was clean, but there were stains on the carpet. I just don't understand why hotel housekeeping does not give their employees some Resolve or other carpet cleaner to use as spots first appear. It would really help the rooms look like they were being maintained better. I have been running into stained carpet a lot lately, and I just don't understand it. In spite of these faults we were satisfied with our room for the price. When you are 10 miles out of NY City, it is hard to find reasonable lodging. We were there to visit family and we like to be near to them. Using Priceline is the only way to find an affordable place to stay. For $70, we felt we did well.
  19. I bid $65 for 2.5 stars in the Paramus area. I had hoped to get the Hyatt Place. I was "upgraded" by Priceline to a three star, the Crowne Plaza. The hotel was nicely remodeled. This was my first time using Priceline. I was impressed with the hotel. The entire hotel was non-smoking. The rooms were nice. The bathroom was very small but it had a great magnifying mirror. The room had a desk and a nice sitting chair. One issue we had was the noise from the rain on the roof. We had a second floor room (top floor) and when it rained, you thought the rain was going to gush right in the room...you felt very close to Mother Nature. :) Front desk staff was just okay....not overly pleasant, but not unpleasant either.
