  1. Now that's my kind of bidding! I do the same thing when there's anough free rebids in an area... Love to figure the absolute lowest acceptable rate out. Good job! DeltaPurser :)
  2. Makes me homesick for New York!!! Is it a double rainbow, or is it just a reflections from a glass window? DeltaPurser :)
  3. Thanks for the prompt reply... There will be two of us, with no luggage except small backpacks, so I think we'll chance it. Both the trip to and from the hotel would be during the day, and both of us have travelled quite extensively and know how to take care of ourselves, so I think we'll be alright. Thanks for the heads-up though! Keep up the good work!
  4. Hi there thereuare & all others, Just a quick question re. getting from EWR to the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City... As far as I can tell, the "most economical" (read cheapest!) way to do this would be to take NJTransit (bus) to Penn Station (Newark), and then transfer to the PATH train to Exchange Place. Am I correct in assuming that this could be done on $2.60?! DeltaPurser :)
  5. I like the way you think... makes a lot of sense to me! Have a great trip, and happy shopping! DeltaPurser :) PS: Just as a reminder for your next bidding adventure in SFO... There is at least one free rebid area that you can use to lowball your starting bid next time.
  6. Cheap, chaeap, cheap... First bid, $27, accepted - Quality Hotel Downtown Check-in: Sun. 6/6 Check-out: Mon 6/7 Price: $27 Taxes/Fees: $8.62 TOTAL: $35.62 Lowest rate @ qualityinn.com: $88.32 USD DeltaPurser :)
  7. Ouch!!! Depending on your personal "interests", someone barging in on you could be considered a good thing, or a bad thing... I guess for you, at least, it was the latter. Let me/us know if anything came out of your letter... Upgrade certificate, free breakfast voucher, anything like that. Take care... and ALWAYS use the security chain on your door!!!!! DeltaPurser :)
  8. Just spent a Sunday night here... Free shuttle pickup from the airport. The location is next to a busy street, right across the street from a big "Asian Mall" with anything and everything Asian... Food market, Chinese take out, Sushi, home furnishings, gifts... You get the point. (In the mids of all this is a Quizno's Subs. Go figure!) Back to the hotel... No mention of PL at check-in. Only that the room had already been paid for. Was given a non-smoking room with a king size bed overlooking the pool (in a courtyard). Very nice and clean. Large room with newer furniture and... here comes the best part... FREE Wi-Fi!!! If you don't have a wireless modem on your laptop, make sure to bring your own ethernet cable, or you'll have to buy them for $5 at the reception. Super breakfast buffet! I ate a waffle, toats, cereal and a cinnamon roll... Not the healthiest thing to eat, but tasted grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! Found out the next morning that there's a supermarket and even a Costco within walking distance... About a mile away. So if you're here for a longer stay, you could get to the grocery store in a jiff! Grades: Location: B+ Staff: A Room: A- Overall: A- DeltaPurser :)
  9. After the fact... 2.5* Residence Inn Phoenix Airport Started bidding at $25 ('cause I'm cheap!), adding zones and ended up with an accepted bid at $27. The rate on marriott.com was, if I remember correctly, $139. I've written a short hotel review if anyone cares to know what I though about the place... Hotel webiste: http://marriott.com/property/propertyPage....arshaCode=PHXRA DeltaPurser :)
  10. Hi Kapaa, Thanks for the clairfication... Seeing as I have all the time in the world between trips, I guess I should spend more time on hotwire.com looking for deals like this! DeltaPurser :)
  11. Just for future reference... Enterprise will rent you an economy car from Fri-Mon for 9.99 per day. It may be a local deal to Fort Lauderdale, but I know for sure you don't have to be a Florida resident to take advantage of it. DeltaPurser :)
  12. These DD deals just keep amazing me! If I understand this correct, Hotwire refunded you more than you paid for the hotel... (except for the taxes and fees, of course.) Does Hotwire require that the room you found on wyndham.com be EXACTLY the same as the one Hotwire books? (i.e. Does it matter if the cheaper rate is for a room with 2 Twin beds, even if Hotwire's room is 1 King bed?) DeltaPurser :)
  13. Direct and to the point! Unlike my own rambling... Welcome to Fort Lauderdale! DeltaPurser :)
  14. Thanks for the kind words... Likewise! Keep up the good work! DeltaPurser :)
  15. Started bidding at $25, added Downtown (not a free rebid, but rates are quite a bit higher than at the airport) and Pittsburgh North in $1 increments. Accepted at the Holiday Inn International Airport at $27. Website: http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/h.../hd/pitia?irs=y DelltaPurser :)
  16. WOW! That is a great deal!!! Looking at marriott.com, the lowest rate for that date is 179 CAD. Good job! Make sure to write a review when you get back... I'm curious what the place is like and if it's conveneiently located to local attractions. DeltaPurser :)
  17. Which means I'd get stuck with a 2.5* hotel for $400? Guess I'm not enough of a gambler to get involved with something like that... Using Priceline is enough of a gamble for me sometimes! DeltaPurser
  18. Be careful though... You're running a pretty big "risk" of getting the Delta if you bid 3* in Downtown. DeltaPurser
  19. Prices in Argentina have gone down A LOT since 4 years, I'm happy to report. What used to cost $100 back then can be had for around $60-70 now. Last time I was there we talked to a girl at the hotel information counter at the arrivals area at the airport and she had some REALLY good deals on last minute hotels. We stayed at a Best Western that we had purchased on Expedia.com for $73, and she was selling it for $55 + a $5 booking fee... I don't know if you're willing to chance it and wait for something like that, but it's an option if you don't have anything by the time you get there... Cabs are still expensive though! Somewhere around $30 to get into town... DeltaPurser
  20. Congratulations! Sweet savings! You'll like the hotel... Within walking distance of the 17th Street Causeway so you can watch all the ships leave (if you arrive before 5pm that is.) Enjoy your stay! DeltaPurser Fort Lauderdale Parti-Timer
  21. Hi Lish! Sorry it didn't work out thru Priceline, but glad you got a nice hotel at a decent price anyway. I'm sure you'll love the hotel... Make sure to check out the spa!!! DeltaPurser :)
  22. "Sorry" to hear you got the Sheraton rather than they Hyatt, especially since the Hyatt has free Wireless Internet... I guess if you wanted to be really cheap, you could take your laptop over to the Hyatt and sit in the lobby all day long! I walked by the Sheraton last time I was there and it looks like an alright place. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. DeltaPurser :)
  23. You better store your credit card info before you start though... That's a lot of typing!!! But could definitely be worth it. I use the same strategy sometimes and only increase my bid by $1 each time just to see the rock-bottom rate for my dates... Can be fun. DeltaPurser :)
  24. Just wanted to add my experiences: Either area of Munich is good. The whole city is easy to get around in using public transportation. You should have no problem. The only 5* hotel that I have ever been awarded is the Le Meridien in the South Zone. It's going to take a bid in the $100-110 range to land this one - even when lemeridien.com has rates as low as 125 Euros. (I guess they've just set their PL rates extremely high to begin with.) I've seen two 4* hotels show up... both of them in the North Zone: The Marriott and the Renaissance Hotel. You should be able to get one of these for somewhere between $55 and $60, depending on your travel dates. You've got 2 free rebids if you go for the 5*, but none if you decide for the 4* hotels. If you end up getting a 4* in the South Zone I'd love to hear about it... Dying to know what it could be! Either way... Remember to post your winning bid... Enjoy M
  25. Well, glad it worked out for you... the hotel I mean. As far as your computer goes... Try a good swift kick. Usually works for mine. DeltaPurser :)
