Tried bidding for 3 1/2* in Downtown Des Moines for two sessions, bidding from $50 to $100 with no success. Changed to West Des Moines 3* and got this right away at $80. Nice hotel, and they don't charge for parking (like downtown). Retail rate before taxes is $179.
Used BB's PRICELINE link on a completely fresh session (no Priceline contact prior to the BB session).Keep up the great board.

Thanks for the late night reply. I invariably use the links on BB, it is only fair to reward you for the information I use to bid.
The issue here is do you have information available for me to base my bid on. As stated, I can find no posts for an area that, in the past, has drawn a fair share of posts.
Thanks for your reply,

In the Priceline Hotel List for California, you show lists for Orange County (Laguna Hills-Mission Viejo). You ought to update this to Orange County (Irvine Spectrum - Laguna Hills - Mission Viejo) which is Priceline's current descriptor. More troubling is that I can find no winning bids in this area going back 6 months. Any thoughts about what is happening here?
I plan to be travelling to this area in Feb. and could use the winning bid info to make my bids. Thanks for the board and your help.

First bid was $45 in DT, thinking I would get SpringHill Suites. Added South and $5 and got this. Ramada is my least loved chain. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Won this on first bid. Expecting Savery at $70, but I'm happy.
Began bidding at $65 and added $5 increments. Success at $80.
Tried bidding 4* Alexandria up to $85 but no luck. Got this on opening 3.5* Crystal City bid at $45.
Won on opening bid.
Linked to PRICELINE through link on BB site.
Started bidding at $55. P/L countered for $15 more. Ignored and bid $60.
Started bidding at $70 and increased in $5 increments. Really would have preferred Hyatt Regency Embarcadero's easier access t BART, but no complaints.
Dates were Jan. 25 - Jan 31.
Started bidding at $70 and increased in $5 increments. Really would have preferred Hyatt Regency Embarcadero's easier access t BART, but no complaints.
Got this on my first bid of $50.
Linked thru SavingsBarn. Thanks for all that you do.
BTW I previously tried 3* in Newport-Huntington from $50 through $70 with no luck. Go figure.
Happy Holidays and a Prosperous New Year
WoW! great idea and first class execution!
Nice if you could include posting date as well as stay dates. I have a suspicion that different hotels release rooms at different "lead times" and this would give a good hint about whether waiting might get access to better pricing.
keep up the really innovative thinking !

Thanks for asking. I thought that I had reported it as 4.5*. In any event, it is 4.5*. Sorry for any inconvenience. Good catch.

Amenities as listed, Rest, Fitness, Business Center.
Stayed here in the past at $99. There is an excellent French restaurant across the street...the Grand Cafe. Hotel had no exterior signage last time, so if you are driving, look for the valet. (Actually there is a tiny sign up high that you won't notice until you tell them that there is no sign.)
BTW. I booked this on Hotwire because Priceline's zones in SF put you at risk of being in a run down area, even in USW (eg the Hilton or the Nikko). SF isn't really a dangerous town, but it is a magnet for the homeless and panhandlers of every ilk.

Started bidding at $43, increased $4-5 per step.Used two of three free rebids. Total cost = $52 +$12.86 = $64.86.
Probably could have gotten this for less if I had booked earlier. No quibble.
Started at $50 and raised $5 each try. Fortunately here are 7 retrys at 4*. Got this in 4, but wouldn't have gone higher.
Started bidding at $65 with the expectation that I would get Renaissance or Hyatt Regency at $70 - $80. Must be busy days in Baltimore. The good news is that there a lot of free rebids in Baltimore.
Hilton Alexandria Mark Center.
This is a very nice hotel and the 3 1/2 * rating is valid. The $73 price is excellent for the general area, but only $7 less than was available on the Hilton site for the same night. Note that parking was an additional $8 per night, so the Hotwire rate was like getting the parking free.
Amenities were Restaurant, Pool, Fitness and Business center. In addition, it was listed as a Best Value! and a Customer Favorite. No quibbles, it was an excellent value, a very nice room. One note of caution, however. While listed as "Alexandria & Old Town", the hotel is about five (5) miles from the Old Town area of Alexandria. It is located at the intersection of Seminary Rd. (Route 420) and I-395, which makes it great for driving into Washington, DC, but really a poor location if you are visiting Old Town Alexandria.
The hotel staff were very nice. We got a room on the 28th floor that looked out on the Washington Monument and DC. I didn't try the restaurant, but with so many good restaurants in DC and in Alexandria, you would have to be in a big rush to want to eat there.
Amenities are identical to amenities for Hyatt Regency Monterey...Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business Center, Golf, Tennis. Since I had not seen this hotel reported my initial thought was that I had gotten the Hyatt Regency. I haven't stayed at either hotel in the past, so I don't know that it makes a difference.
Yes, Indeed it is in Union Square west. My apologies for taking so long to reply to your question.
3* Orange County (Irvine Spectrum - Laguna Hills) Holiday Inn Irvine Spectrum
in Hotwire Hotels - ORANGE COUNTY

Offer came unsolicited from HOTWIRE. Since I have been trying to book in this area thru PRICELINE without success (no free rebids in 3* Irvine Spectrum, so it is tedious), I jumped on it.
