  1. We won this on priceline for 12/31/04 (can't recall how much we won it for, but it was in the $20's or $30's... I can check). It was the plainest suite at which we've ever stayed. What turned our opinion from mediocre to worse is that the hotel shuttle to the airport didn't show up for our 5am request! Fortunately, the hotel manager on duty happened to know a taxi cab driver and woke him up (very early New Year's Day) and asked for a HUGE favor to take us to the airport! We barely made our flight, but wouldn't have made it at all if she hadn't been so kind to do that for us. She also opened up breakfast early for us, too!
  2. We pricelined this hotel and won it last May (will go through e-mails and find out the bidding history & purchase price sometime)... absolutely wonderful! It was a very roomy suite, with a well kept pool, and they offered yummy Otis Spunkmeyer cookies and lemonade available in the lobby during the evening. We would highly recommend this suite hotel- the shuttle to the airport was very convenient. Very pleasant stay and a very relaxing way to start a vacation!
  3. Hello! We also won LivInn Suites in April of this year. Great value, solid 2 star. We agree with everything you wrote about the room. However, if you're willing to drive 10 minutes, you are one suburb over from one of the most fabulous grocery stores in the world: Jungle Jim's. An acre of food paradise for "foodies." www.junglejims.com We also had difficulty checking in- not only as PL customers, but the manager loudly insulted priceline to us in front of other customers. It just seemed so highly inappropriate. Nevertheless, a place of happy memories as we sold/closed on our home (our last anchor to Cincinnati) that evening! :)
  4. Fun! What did you and your other enjoy the most while on Oahu? We purchased the Entertainment Book for $5 online- this way, we can "dine one, get one free" on Oahu and Maui, and enjoy very discounted sightseeing, too. When are you planning on returning? Are you into accumulating frequent flyer miles as much as you are into perfecting better bidding? :)
  5. We won the Midtown Extended Stay in Anchorage. Haha! Yes, you'll probably see us on the board a bit more for Cleveland (we're Browns Fans) and Alaska! So where are you headed next, Michigan Fan? Nevertheless, our better bidding days will quiet down for awhile! :)
  6. No, not silly at all! I bet you're right. I feel silly for having grown up in Columbus and forgetting about the fair, haha! :)
  7. It's a year away, and we've been throwing out bids for $36 (a truly arbitrary number) every time we're on priceline. This was about the 7 or 8th time we bid this amount for this date (we were in no hurry). We won it mid-July. We hadn't found this website yet when we bid, and now we're kicking ourselves that we didn't buy extra days, as we've just now become infected with Alaska sticker shock, haha! :) Trust me, we've bid this (and even gone up to $55) for other days within the same week at least a half dozen times until we found this website without any success. Good luck to you!
  8. My husband's working this week at OSU, so I thought I'd join him and try our luck at getting a nice 3 or 4* hotel... we literally put a dozen bids on this the past week without success: 1) Four star downtown $45 8/7/06... LOST 2) 4* downtown 8/8/06... LOST 3) 4* downtown 8/9/06... LOST 4) 4* downtown 8/10/06... LOST 5) 4* downtown 8/11/06... LOST then we went back and added money and an area: 6) 3/4* downtown/OSU $50 8/8/06... LOST 7) 3/4 downtown/OSU $50 8/9/06... LOST 8) 3/4* downtown/OSU $50 8/10/06... LOST 9) 3/4* downtown/OSU $50 8/11/06... LOST then we went back and changed our dates to two nighters for $55: 10) 3/4* downtown/OSU $55 8/8 & 8/9... LOST 11) 3/4* downtown/OSU $55 8/9 & 8/10... LOST 12) 3/4* downtown/OSU $55 8/10 & 8/11... LOST Oh well, it really isn't a big deal. We're addicted to this site, had an opportunity to play around and learn from priceline, and we enjoyed it (for two sad people who consider "pricelining" a hobby)... oh well, we'll get our Pricelined 4* someday, hahaha! Until then, we'll enjoy our $26 2* Extended Stay in Cincinnati this weekend, haha (thereuare, I'll track down which location... I think Hunt Rd., but I'm not certain... doh! :) I used to work in Blue Ash, too, so I should be wiser!).
  9. Until my husband found this site, we always bid for the lower star hotels. This site's inspired us to try for the all-stars... this bid started with $42 for two nights downtown at 4*. Lost. Then we tried each night downtown for $42 at 4*. Lost. Then, we added the airport areas (knowing there are no 4* down there)... lost. Then, we realized that we would be more convenient to our weekend plans if we stay by the airport, so we started all over, dropped downtown, and did the airports for 3* at $35... and lost. We then split the nights up, so bid for 8/18 (Friday) at $39 3* airports... lost. We then bid the same for 8/19 (Saturday) at $39 3* airports... WON! Oddly, we then added a second day (even though we had just lost it)... and won that, too.
  10. Can't recall bid history, but this was the second priceline.com hotel we've gotten and didn't like. The room and facility was a solid 2 star, but the cracks from front desk staff about being priceline customers weren't appropriate... -Chuck & Julie
  11. We wanted at least 3 stars, but we started from the top down... rejected at $75 four stars, rejected at $100 for 3 or four stars. Then tried $120 at 3 stars or more, and won. Looks like a nice place, we look forward to it! -Chuck & Julie
  12. A few days ago, Chuck bid $35/night and received the 15 minute consideration... Last night (July 30) we aimed to start at $40, but was rejected. $50 then received another 15 minute consideration, but we were then rejected. We then bid $52 and received another 15 minute consideration, but got the room. Internet reviews of Ohana Maile Sky Court are spotty... biggest complaints are that the rooms are super tiny and it's a skyscraper... we're going in with no expectations and will be very happy, I'm sure! We shall see this November... -Chuck & Julie
  13. Can't remember what our bidding history was... we just joined this forum today (August 1). Sorry! Julie & Chuck
  14. Third bid ($20 & $25 were rejected)... started with hotels downtown and worked our way towards the outerbelts. Weren't picky... included all stars. We've gotten Extended Stays often via priceline (hotel of choice?!), no pool, but we can cook our own food! :)
