  1. Actually yes! I'd like to stay in a 4* or above in a fairly central location. I tried to bid for a 4* (on Priceline) in OQW-Champs Elysees, but rejected ($110 max bid). The possibilities for 4* hotels in the other zones seem a bit dicey - I don't want to stay in a business district (we'll be there on the weekend) or at Novotel Les Halles (bad neighborhood at night?). I will post my bid history in the Priceline section. Thanks. I'm really most curious about the 4.5*.
  2. Thanks WillTravel I did try my dates with the package. None matched! I agree about the Sofitel (avoiding). I thought the 4.5* might be the Westin (I also tried some dates in June), but no go there either.
  3. Please help id these: 4.5* Champs Elysees-Trocadero Rest, Fitness, HiSpeed Internet, BC 4* Eiffel Tower-Cambrone Rest., Fitness. BC 4* St. Germain - Latin Quarter Rest., Fitness, BC, Laundry 4* Opera Quarter - Louvre Boutique, Fitness, HiSpeed Internet, BC Thanks - I have no idea on these! I appreciate your help!!!
  4. Got the Hyatt on the first try. After many attempts at a 3* in Newport Beach for the weekend (even went up to $70, I decided to add nights. Priceline came back with a counteroffer of $61 (instead of original $50), and I decided to go for it because I did not want to mess around bidding any more and not get anything!
  5. Does anyone know which hotel this could possibly be? 2.5* Shuttle, Comp. Breakfast, pool John Wayne Airport SNA/Costa Mesa Thanks - any help is appreciated as my dates are fast approaching
  6. I got an email like this too and immediately deleted it. I heard about something like this on the radio from Clark Howard. If you don't alrerady listen to him, he's a great consumer advocate. You can find out the times and statio he's on in your area by going to www.clarkhoward.com. No, I am not getting paid to tell you about his radio show!!
  7. Need help identifying the following hotels in the John Wayne SNA-Costa Mesa hotwire zone: Check in on 11/25 check out 11/27 3.5 * Customer Favorite Shuttle, rest, pool, fitness center, Hispeed internet, golf nearby, tennis nearby, business center 3* Customer Favorite Rest, pool, fitness center, business center, laundry I've looked at postings and pinned lists and still can't figure them out! Thanks in advance!
  8. Last minute - same day bid. Amenities are restaurant, business center, fitness center, customer favorite. I thought it would be Grand Hyatt or Westin St. Francis, same amenities and area, so watch out. Did this used to be considered in a different area??
  9. I did not proceed with this as the rate went up on the Westin site (for double difference). I did find it a couple days later on the Hotwire Vacation Package so it's got to be Westin Kierland. Thanks and I'll let you know what we do eventually. There are so many beautiful places to stay there and there are so many good bargains in the summer its difficult to decide!!
  10. I'm looking at North Scottsdale for August 24-28. I have not been watching Hotwire lately for Scottsdale zone and wonder if the Westin Kierland is the only 4.5* in North Scottsdale with the following: resort, restaurant, pool, fitness, business center, golf nearby, tennis nearby, spa, childrens, laundry. I know back in January this was the Westin Kierland. Are there any other resorts this may be?? The double difference guarantee would make this property very attractively priced! Thanks in advance!!
  11. The customer favorite comments have changed (as they normally do) and described the place as "festive". Is there any other hotel it might be? I checked with vacation package amenities and everything is the same. I guess I don't want to be stuck with an expensive mistake! :)
  12. Rio website is showing $109 for Friday the 26th, so I was considering the Double the Difference Guarantee. The problem is Saturday night. We may just try for the one night and watch the rates for Saturday night.
  13. Amenities: Suite, Casino, Airport Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business, Golf Nearby, Spa. Also a customer favorite. Is this the Rio? Thanks in advance!
  14. My friends called to request bed preferences for an upcoming stay. The Westin Kierland told them that when booking through Hotwire, their only option is a king bed. They would prefer two double or two queens. Has anyone else stayed there on a Hotwire stay and gotten two beds? I told them they might want to become a Starwood Preferred Guest - maybe that would give them a little clout. I've stayed at Hyatts & Sheratons booked on priceline & Hotwire and have always had two beds if I requested them.
  15. Same amenities as listed in previous posts. Could not have identified without previous info. Thanks!! Hesistant to try priceline on this one because we might have been "upgraded" to a Resort.
  16. Started at $85, tried $90, successful at $95 Hyatt.com rate is $292 I'm happy :)
  17. My sister only wanted to stay one night and we wanted to stay five nights. I called her when we were ready to bid. We each did the same thing at the same time on our respective computers and got the same property at the same price. We bid two rooms and she bid one. We did this about two weeks ago for the Hyatt Regency Irvine in California for Thanksgiving weekend. Hope this strategy works for you!
  18. Well, I decided to go for it, but had to buy it in two separate transactions. The Park Hyatt was a 4.5* customer favorite (with restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, hi-speed internet, golf, tennis - note-NO SPA) and was not listed when I wanted to buy both nights together (another 4.5* showed up - I can't figure out which hotel it is). Anyway, when I requested just one night, it showed up. I really wanted to stay there so decided to swallow the extra transaction fee (for two separate night reservations). My kids are going to love the free limo! An aside - the indoor pool is closed until mid-January but they said we will probably be able to use the pool at the Westin Century Plaza. :)
  19. I called Hotwire and they said the hotels are in charge of the amenities they show. I then called Park Hyatt and found out they don't have a spa. I will probably try again on Hotwire tonight to buy.

  21. I've been watching Beverly hills/Century City for about a week now. I was all ready to buy today a 4.5* for early December, assuming it was either the Century Plaza or the Park Hyatt. Well, the spa icon disappeared so I'm not quite sure which hotel it is. The price is $2 higher. Hotwire lost a sale today if they are doing a disappearing icon trick. Any comments or suggestions? I posted this on the tips & tricks message subject also. What hotel could it be without a spa? Thanks!
  22. I've been watching beverly hills/century city for about a week now. The same thing with disappearing icons is happening there too, I think. I plan to post this on the California message subject also.
