  1. Started bidding today at $85 for 4-star and above. Wanted Financial District or Union Square East. Used rebid zones at $5 increments and finally won for $120 plus taxes (total $146.89) I believe the same hotel was available through HOTWIRE and PRICELINE EXPRESS for $129 Used betterbidding PRICELINE link!
  2. Comfort Suites Davis Davis 1640 Research Park Drive, Davis, CA 95616 Seems to be a busy weekend Saw 2.5* on Priceline Express Deals for $96, did some research and figured it was the Comfort Suites Started bidding $75 for 2.5* in Davis, but was offered to increase bid to $98 Added free rebid zone (Sacramento South) and increased bid to $81 - rejected Started again with other account Offered $85 for 2.5* in Davis, but again was offered to increase bid to $98 Added free rebid zone (Sacramento South) and increased bid to $90 - accepted Not a huge savings over the Express Deal... but it was the hotel I was expecting. I hope it will be a good stay.
  3. Had started bidding last night 3* LAX $60 3* LAX+ Inglewwod $65 3* LAX + Lawndale $70 Continued this morning but decided that if I was going to raise the price I wanted at least 3.5* 3.5* LAX + USC $80 - rejected but got offer for $97 so decided to try again with 3* for less money 3* LAX + USC $70 - again rejected but got offer for $97 So decided to wait till later This evening noticed that Hotwire options were looking better than they had been before with an offer for a 4* for $106. Offered 4* LAX + culver City $85 - rejected Looking at the hotwire amenities figured that the hotwire 4* was probably one of the Priceline 3.5*, so decided to just make the same offer including 3.5* 3.5* LAX + culver City $85 - accepted Sheraton Gateway Total incl tax: $106.05 Really happy about this win, especially as I was hoping to get some place really close to the airport with frequent courtesy shuttles and the Sheraton Gateway has exactly that...
  4. My first choice was the Cypress in Cupertino/Campbell, but I figured that one of the Santa Clara 4* hotels (Hilton/Hyatt) would be cheaper. So started off not including Santa Clara to try my luck Priceline bids San Jose Area - 4* Cupertino 4*- $60 (rejected) Cupertino, Fremont 4* - $65 (rejected) Cupertino, Fremont, Santa Clara 4*- $60 (rejected) Cupertino, Fremont, Santa Clara, Palo Alto 4*- $65 (rejected) Decided to start over and try a 2.5* in Mountain View Mountain View 2.5* $40 (rejected) Figured I would probably settle for Santa Clara since I did not want to go much higher on the bid and I was seeing what looked like the Santa Clara Hilton on Hotwire for $83... Bid Cupertino, Santa Clara, Palo Alto, Milpitas 4* - $70 (Accepted) Hilton Santa Clara Santa Clara 4949 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara, CA 95054 (saved about $14/night compared to Hotwire, also this hotel is currently listed for $109 on Priceline, so not bad savings..) Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $70.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $140.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $27.34 (USD) Total Room Cost: $167.34 (USD) (used Fremont and Milpitas as free rebid zones for San Jose 4* ) Overall pretty happy. At least most reviews say the bed is very comfortable which is high on my priority list.

  6. Got the Hyatt on the first bid for $75. Wish I had started bidding a little lower but happy with the win. 8. 3* Santa Barbara Amenities: Boutique Hotel, Near Beach, Fitness Center, Pools, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services Hotel Oceana - Santa Barbara 202 W Cabrillo Boulevard Santa Barbara, California 93101 $119/night + taxes total: $273.24 I found it interesting that now just before you finalize the purchase HOTWIRE shows the TripAdvisor icon, with the trip advisor rating of the hotel and approximately how many reviews it has received. This helped me confirm that the hotel was the one I was expecting. The rate for this hotel on regular booking sites are around $200/night for this weekend, so this was quite a deal. The reviews for this hotel on Trip Advisor are mixed. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will be a good experience for us.

  10. Here is the details of my booking: Harvey's Lake Tahoe Hwy. 50 At Stateline Stateline, Nevada 89449 Check-in: Thu, Jan 18, 2007 Check-out: Fri, Jan 19, 2007 Although this hotel is technically in NV, my search was for South Lake Tahoe, CA. Harvey's is right on the state border. This hotel is listed as a 3.5star in South Lake Tahoe with the following amenities: Resort, Near Beach, Casino, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Golf Nearby It was listed for $39. With taxes and fees the total was $49.40. I got this hotel on Hotwire today (Jan/14) for this coming Thursday (Jan/18/07). ---- After doing some searching on the forum I found that this post maybe should go under Nevada. If I can make a suggestion to put a note on the the Priceline/Hotwire hotel lists to go to Nevada forum for Tahoe information. Thanks!

  16. I made this purchase on hotwire on 7/20/2006 (Thursday). 4-star hotel in Union Square West Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center The hotel I got was: Renaissance Parc 55 Hotel 55 Cyril Magnin Street San Francisco, California 94102 (415) 392-8000 check-in: 7/22/06 (saturday) check-out: 7/23/06 (sunday) The cost breakdown is the same as a previous user: 1 room(s) @ $102.00 per night x 1 night(s) $102.00 Hotel Taxes and fees: $22.36 Hotel Subtotal: $124.36 Total Price: $124.36 The hotel is part of Marriott. It was a good hotel, the beds were very comfortable with down pillows and comforter, the room was well appointed and the location was great. They were able to give us a room with two double beds as requested. They were overbooked and so we had to stay in a smoking room but they told me that Marriott is switching to all non-smoking rooms in October/2006.
