  5. This date is a long weekend in Prince Edward Island and right in the middle of their short tourist season. Expect to pay big money for anything from a hotel room to a bottle of water if you are unfortunate enough to be on PEI in July and August. I live within a half day drive of PEI but quit going years ago because of poor value. Bottom line...expect no deals in PEI in the summer.
  6. 7. Because it doesn't say above that you have gone to Montreal for a Canadiens game before, I may be pointing out the obvious to you...however I will weigh in just in case it helps you or someone else. .. If you are coming into Montreal on the train, the Central Station is very close to the Bonaventure station on the subway orange line. The orange line and the green line on the Montreal subway (Metro) run downtown and provide excellent coverage to just about any hotel in Hotwire or Priceline downtown Montreal zones. The Montreal subway is just about the cleanest, quietest and most comfortable subway system in the world (IMO). The Bell Centre is accessible from the Bonaventure (indoor walk) or Lucien L'Allier (better from Lucien as it's in the Bell Centre building) stations on the orange line. If the green line is better for you, the Peel station is a very short walk from the Bell Centre. http://www.stm.info/English/a-somm.htm I personally have done many, many Canadiens trips, getting to and from the Bell Centre is a breeze from most downtown hotels. GO HABS
  8. First bid $50 with South Portland/Scarborough...no soup for me got the "increase by $13" offer...rebid at $56 with Biddeford/Saco zone and got the Marriott Courtyard South Portland, 100 Southborough Dr, South Portland ME Happy bidder here. Used the PRICELINE link to get started
  9. Booked three rooms on Hotwire for $45 each for one night of May 30/2010 Amenities are: Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Howard Johnson Portland South 675 Main St South Portland ME 04106 Please add to Maine Hotwire hotel list Thanks
  10. Used the PRICELINE link to get started. 3* rejected at $66, added Biddeford/Saco and rebid 3* at $75 and got the Marriott Sable Oaks in South Portland. Been there before and am happy with the deal.
  11. Delta Chelsea is not that close to the Metro Convention Center and it is hit or miss on the quality IMO. (Delta Chelsea is at Yonge and Gerrard West). A lot people mention booking Delta Chelsea on HOTWIRE or PRICELINE and then talking/bribing their way into an upgraded room. Isn't worth the quality questions or location to try the Delta Chelsea if she is going to be at the Metro Convention Center on Front Street. In my opinion your missus would be better off targetting the Intercontinental Toronto Centre, Westin Harbour Castle, Fairmont Royal York, Hilton Toronto or Renaissance Skydome, or even the Sheraton Center on Queen (marginally further from Front Street but a solid Toronto hotel). These places are handy to the Convention Center and seem to be regularly available. The PRICELINE downtown Toronto zone extends a ways up Yonge Street but if you stick to the 4* you should land a spot near Front Street.
  12. Good advice from the above post...I have done a number of Skydome trips...any 3.5 or 4 star located in Downtown West or East would be mostly ok location wise...agree 100% that the Sheraton Center on Queen is great to get. Renaissance Hotel is actually in the Skydome but some like it and some don't. (PS. I refuse to call the ballpark Rogers Centre...it will always be Skydome. Good on the original post for referring to it as that as well!!) Forget paying hotel parking rates...they are unacceptable. Park at the City Hall/Nathan Phillips Square garage (across the street from Sheraton Center). Rates are $14 per weekday and $6 for weekend days and all evenings. http://www.greenp.com/tpa/parkinglocator/C...CATOR_OPTION=11 Have a great trip to Toronto.
  13. I wouldn't expect any deals in July or August on Prince Edward Island. Living fairly close to PEI, it is our experience that the rates in the summer go through the roof for everything on PEI. Other times of the year you can go for next to nothing...but expect to be soaked if you to go PEI in the summer.
  14. Truro NS (2*), Stellarton NS (2*) and New Glasgow NS (2.5*) are available PRICELINE.com zones. Not much history in these areas however
  15. Have a great stay in Fredericton. (try the Snooty Fox pub for supper). Right around the corner from the hotel...
  16. Sorry I didn't mention before. HOTWIRE link was used to start the buy for this stay. Cheers
  17. Amenities Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access $57 Delta Chelsea 33 Gerrard Street West Toronto HAPPY!
  18. .. Crowne Plaza Fredericton Book direct on your dates with the Crowne Plaza Fredericton at the above link and you can get a room for CAD$108. That's about the same as the US$90 bid you mentioned above. I live in Fredericton and the Crowne Plaza is the best hotel for quality and location in town. .. You could also get a certificate from a local radio station for CAD$79 for the Lakeview Inns and Suites. It is called their radio price club. Lakeview is a decent spot uptown. www.radiopriceclub.com Check it out...it really does work.
  19. Appears that hotwire returns a 3.5* in Back Bay for your dates for $109. It's likely the Sheraton Back Bay or Hilton Back Bay...both are walking distance to Fenway and hotels that are "wife friendly" (I know Boston places near Fenway where I will stay with the boys but would never check in with the missus.) $109 is pretty good for a decent place near Fenway on dates when the Sox are at home.
  20. I agree the hotel shuttle ride to the airport T station, then jumping on the T on the blue line into downtown can be become tiresome. I recommend for next time you are staying at Logan and want to go downtown that you try the Harbor Taxi (water taxi). Catch the water taxi from the dock behind the Hyatt Harborside and it drops you off at Long Wharf just a stones throw from Quincy Market. Awesome view of the city when travelling across the Harbor, beats seeing concrete tunnels in the T. They run all day tilll about 10pm and it only takes a few minutes and a few bucks for the spectacular ride.
  21. $59 failed on first bid for South Portland, added Portland-Portland West and re-bid at $59 and got the Eastland Park. Have been there before and was happy with the property. Used the PRICELINE link from this website to get started. Eastland Park Hotel Portland - Portland West 157 High Street Portland, Maine 04101 207-775-5411 See Hotel Website View Map and Directions Check-In Date: Sat, Nov 15, 2008 / After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Nov 16, 2008 / 11:00 AM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $59.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.33 Total Charges*: $71.33
  22. Was your "other option" an online site? I'm going to begin bidding in Portland for Nov 15 (1 night) and the Wyndham for $39 would be a great deal if it's available for other dates.
  23. Boston is ridiculous for the weekend of May16-17. Move out weekend, graduations and 24,000 architects at a convention. I've been working on this weekend for a month or so now for a group of 8 going for a Red Sox weekend and actually Sox tickets were easier to come by than hotels. It's sold out wall to wall (unless you are willing to pay $450/room + for the limited avails on HOTWIRE). Not me. .. Try the Lowell, Andover area...there are deals there if you want to be close to NH.
  24. Amenities are Airport Shuttle and Golf Nearly 2.5 star, South Portland Comfort Inn Airport May 15/2008
  25. Nice win 506canuck (is 506 your area code?? it is mine.) .. I just stayed at this property, it's a good spot, especially at 40 bucks. Take note that exit 52 (hotel's exit off Autoroute 40) is closed and under construction, you are going to want to take exit 50 for St Charles and go from there. That is the best way to get to the hotel I found with the ongoing construction.
