  1. I booked this room about 2 days before I needed it for a bid on Priceline of $36 for a Fri. and Sat. night. We arrived about 9:30 pm on Friday night. The hotel is extremely easy to find as it is right off of Hwy. 94 West at Moorland Rd., you really can't miss it. It is an older property that has had a bit of a facelift within the last 5 years or so. At checkin it was announced that my room was paid for via Priceline, yep nice and loud, I think had I paid full price and heard this I would have be ticked. I was then offered to upgrade my stay to include breakfast in their restaurant at the buffet for $5 a person for each night. I did upgrade as I don't have a clue where you would find breakfast for $5 a person! We had a non-smoking room assigned and then I did ask for a king which I was told was not a problem. Very friendly front desk, and even sent us robes and slippers when we inquired about them, along with a call to check and make sure we recieved them. We found our room, it was on the first floor with a view of the parking lot. I'm not really sure there is a "good" view at this hotel. The hotel has 4 floors but is spread out. We found our room to be clean and smelled ok. The bedding was Sheraton's upgraded bedding, it was not the Westin, but was nicer than most hotel bedding. The bathroom was small and had little counter space. It had lotion, conditioner, shampoo, and a hair dryer available in it. I did also find an extra hair dryer in the closet. The room itself was average size and had a 27 inch tv, along with coffe maker. The carpeting in our room appeared to be clean but the carpeting throughout the hotel wasn't in as good of shape with odd spots on it and was actually pulling apart in one hallway. There is an indoor and an outdoor pool at this property. It was winter so we only got to check out the indoor pool and it was an L shape but average size. There was a hot tub and sauna also. The pool area didn't seem really clean to me, kind of old and like it just needed a really good cleaning all over. There was also a fitness room on the lower level of the hotel (actually basement I believe) and it was just a small room with 2 treadmills, a stair stepper, and a couple of bikes. My favorite part was the water dispenser in the workout room, it wasn't bottled water like you might expect, it was just chilled tap water with some type of filter on it, very gross as anyone who knows Milwaukee's water would guess. We only ate our two breakfast buffets at the restaurant so I can only speak to that food quality. It was above average buffet food and with plenty of choices as long as you got there early, plus juice, soda, coffee etc. was in the $5 price! There was plenty of parking all around the hotel and we could always find a spot near our room. This hotel has PAPER THIN walls in it! BEWARE! I could hear every door slam, drunk in the hall, conversation etc. and I am not a light sleeper. The temperature control in the room is excellent but be careful to turn the fan off at night because when it kicks in it sounds like you are near the airport listening to planes land and will wake you from a sound sleep. I did get a very good rate on this hotel but I don't think I would stay there if possible in the future. I value sleep and this hotel as for noises was the worst I've been in. I think the only time I would consider it would be in the summer if I wanted a hotel with an outdoor pool.

  3. Finally! I didn't ever get an e-mail telling me my DD Refund was accepted but I just checked my credit card balance since I made a big payment and wanted to see if it had gone through today and I saw the credit from Hotwire on my online statement for my credit card! Would have liked the e-mail that I saw other's received but the $ was most important anyway :)
  4. OK so tonight at 6:00 pm or so was 3 business days and still no reply from Hotwire on my Double the Difference Refund...Has this happened to anyone on here before? If so what did they do? E-mail? Call? Just looking for some suggestions as to what to do next...any help would be greatly apppreciated!
  5. Well I see it says 3 business days for my reply on my double the difference refund so today would be 3 days but since it's a Sat. I guess I'll have to wait until Mon. How long does this normally take? I think I'm just nervous as this is my first try at this :) I'll let the board know on Monday if I get a reply, as a side note my mom just booked 2 room for May 27-30, 2004 at $148.00 a night on Hotwire also and summited a Double the Difference Refund using the same $122.00 rate at Treasureisland.com that is still available.
  6. What are the dates were the dates you were looking at when you found this hotel? If you provide dates it is easier to pin down what the hotel might be :)
  7. I planned to stay at Treasure Island for 5/27-5/30 for part of Memorial Day weekend and TI's website had rooms for $122 a night. I just checked my nights on hotwire.com and they had Treasure Island..or what I believed to be TI for $144 a night which is $22 a night more than I found on their (Treasure Islands) website..so I went for it and took the room on Hotwire and it was TI..I now have a claim in for double my difference which should put this my room around $100 :) a night, which is a great price for this weekend (Memorial Day) for a Thur, Fri, and Sat. night and exactly where I want to be. So just a note to anyone else out there thinking of the strip over that weekend..TI's rates online are lower than any other 4* and right now Hotwire is overpriced making an even better deal. I guessed it was TI and NOT New York New York due to the customer favorite icon, but otherwise amenities are exactly the same so BE CAREFUL (this could always be another hotel and is a bit of a gamble :) ), plus I checked packages over that weekend and only found TI packages not NYNY packages. Wish me luck this is my first Double the Difference Try!!! Treasure Island at The Mirage 4* Casino, Rest., Pool, Fitness, business, golf, spa Check-in: Thu, May 27, 2004 Check-out: Sun, May 30, 2004 No. of Rooms: 1 No. of Nights: 3 Price Per Night: $144.00 Subtotal: $432.00 Taxes / Booking Fees: $43.95 Total Price: $475.95
  8. Thanks ...I will just wait and rebid with higher bids like you suggested. Side note and maybe a bit off topic..I just checked my first 3 nights on hotwire.com and they had Treasure Island..or what I believed to be TI for $144 a night which is $22 a night more than I found on their (Treasure Islands) website..so I went for it and took the room on Hotwire and it was TI..I now have a claim in for double my difference which should put this my room around $100 a night, which is a great price for this weekend (Memorial Day) for a Thur, Fri, and Sat. night and exactly where I want to be. 9. I'm trying to split up a 5 night trip to las vegas. Right now I have the 27, 28, 29th of May (Memorial Day weekend) booked with Treasure Island for 400.00 with fees and taxes and am planning on getting married there at TI on the 28th. I will hold this reservation and bid the week before for Venentian and if no luck I will be happy at TI but just in case I can get the Venetian I will try. As for the last two nights, the 30, 31st of May I would like to stay at the Hyatt at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson..just to get away. I was hoping to bid a Sun. and Mon. night kind of cheap here is what I bid: $50 reject, $53 reject, $55 reject, $58 reject, $60 reject, $62 reject, $65 reject, and then finally since my rebids were used up I used the strip knowing I wouldn't get the 5* for my last $67 bid. All rejected. My reasoning behind these bids was that at first...about 4 days ago I was bidding for this resort for entire trip and at one point was counter offered at $101 a night for all nights. So cheapo me said no and continued to bid low. I didn't get it and went up to $85 a night I think. Anyway so when I was only bidding the last two nights I thought they would be cheaper since they were the Sun. and Mon. part of the trip. So am I just too cheap?? Should I expect to pay $100 a night for this resort?
  10. I booked this hotel for a two night stay (Wed. and Thurs.) night right before the Super Bowl for $54 on Priceline. Wasn't thrilled when I first got my results but knew that this hotel was an option when only bidding 4* strip zone. I arrived at the hotel about 11:30 am Vegas time and found parking right away. The hotel is located on Flamingo right behind the Bourbon Street hotel (which is right behind the Barbary Coast Hotel). It is a short walk to the strip maybe 5 minutes. You can also walk across the street in about 2 minutes and be in Ballys. The Westin is much closer to the strip than I thought it would be. When the monorail is open I think this hotel will be even a bigger bargain. I found the front desk for check-in quite easily. There was no mention of Priceline at check-in and they actually offered me a King non-smoking (something I've never been offered in Vegas on Priceline) but I turned it down and asked for a non-smoking double as I was actually traveling with 3 girlfriends this trip. I was told not a problem and I was off to my room on the 5th floor in no time. The room itself seemed a bit small but I'm not sure if that was the case or if it was just all of the furniture that they packed into this room. There were 2 beds, a large dresser with a mini bar, a large desk, two chairs, a table, and lots of lamps for light. The beds were Westin Heavenly beds (very nice after a long day of walking and nights of dancing) and were all white. Our room had all the amenities that you would expect. A safe, alarm clock, mini bar, nice sized bathroom (granite counter tops), double headed shower, bathrobes, and a great 27" (at least) flat screen t.v. Other wise the room was very calming in a sage green type color. Issues with the room- the floor seemed a bit unlevel under the carpet, like you would feel it when walking and in time I think it will show, the size seeming small (although we did put 4 people in the room), and only one bathrobe but two beds in the room The hotel itself was very understated unlike the rest of Las Vegas. Was kind of calming and nice. It has easy access parking. The casino in the hotel was small. If you need a hotel that you can gamble a lot in this is not it. There is one restaurant in this hotel. It is open 24 hours, but was a bit more than we wanted to pay (but we are cheap:) The fitness area had plenty of treadmills, weights, bikes, steppers, and t.v.'s. It was completely free with hotel stay (nice added bonus). The pool and whirlpool were also available (it was Jan.) They are only open from 7-10 each day. This is a small area but they had a lot of chairs and cabanas. There will be a spa in the future but they had not even started on it when I was there (Jan. 28-29, 2004). The overall dress in the hotel was at least business casual when I stayed. We are mostly jean types during the day so I think we stood out a bit. The staff was very nice. We had no problems with them at all. We actually had to call down to the front desk and ask for asistance with getting a lock cut off a suitcase. A friend I was traveling with locked her suitcase and then found out that the key she had didn't fit it! We asked for a lock cutter and a maintance man was up within minutes and cut it off for us. The drawbacks of the hotel- It is off strip. It is a smaller hotel. The views are not wonderful (we had the view of the parking lot and flamingo road). I think rooms on the other side of the hotel probably overlooked seedy motels. There is only one restaurant and a small casino. Overall I was really happy with the hotel. We felt safe and got it for a great price, with some wonderful added amenities that you wont get in larger hotels. I would stay here again if nothing else for the beds and overall calm feeling.
  11. No..lol..we didn't go and honestly I don't know if they won..oops. I think they were playing IOWA from what I can remember by the other guest sweatshirts. We were on a girls weekend and just happen to pick Madison without realizing it was a home game!

  16. This is an oldie but a goodie. I dug this win out so that hopefully no one will make the same mistake I did. I was new to using Hotwire and made a very POOR choice with this hotel....I seriously recommend it to no one. 19. Ok so there is one other option (but a slightly smaller option as it is available around the time we are looking also) and that is a 2.5*= Holiday Inn Nikki Bird-Maingate-Theme Park 7300 West U.S. 192, Kissimmee, FL 34747 This hotel is a little further away from Disney I believe (not a Disney expert) but still within a mile and I think by Hotwires strange and difficult map maybe still in WDW area. It has the same amenities and similar pricing to the La Quinta mentioned above. Restaurant-pool-fitness-laundry.
  20. I'm looking at this same time period also- June 2-6. I think I got many of the same options as you did for hotels including the illusive 3.5* with only a restaurant. Come on this is Flordia!!! If that is all a 3.5* had to offer they wouldn't survive. But like the earlier post, just for that I would think twice about grabbing it. I don't know if you saw the same hotels I did but as I figure them out (hehe..yah right..to the best of my ability) :) I'll post for you. So far the really cheap 2.5* for me it was $21 a night rest., pool, fitness, laundry= La Quinta Inn lakeside which is located at 7769 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Kissimmee, FL 34747, just outside of Disney. *** Remember this is only an educated guess but I think a pretty good one. I'm going to keep searching but I thought for the price and since I didn't see it listed as a Hotwire win yet I would pass it along.
  21. Old one I found since I found out how to get them from Hotwire site:) Amenities listed: Restaurant(s),Pool(s),Fitness Center,Tennis Nearby No. of Rooms: 1 No. of Nights: 2 Price Per Night: $37.00 Subtotal: $74.00 Taxes / Booking Fees: $15.95 Total Price: $89.95
  22. There were no amenities listed for this hotel at all. This is a small area of Milwaukee and I had a good idea it was the Baymont Inn and Suites. It does have free parking and continental breakfast as per the hotel website. I booked one room at a time for $36 dollars a night for 2 nights. We actually needed 2 rooms for 2 nights but when I put that in it came up at $60 a night per room! So by purchasing them separatley we saved quite a bit. Stange how Hotwire is like that. These rates are for a Friday and Sat. night. No. of Rooms: 1 No. of Nights: 2 Price Per Night: $36.00 Subtotal: $72.00 Taxes / Booking Fees: $16.95 Total Price: $88.95
  23. For the dates you are looking for it appears that the Mirage 41/2* is available (due to amenities and packages) for $159.00 on Hotwire and also the Westin(most likely due to amenities and packages), which people have mentioned is also available on in the Near East Strip section on Hotwire but for $155.00 a night. I recently got the Westin on Priceline for 1/28-1/30 (Wed. and Thurs.) with a final winning bid of $54 a night after a counter offer I rejected. I think the price of $155.00 seems high for the Westin even though it is a weekend due to the fact the Mirage is coming up $4 more a night. If the Westin is a viable option for you I would suggest priceline and bidding and being willing to go to a 4*, just be careful not to overbid since you know the Westin is an option on Priceline.
  24. I bid for a 3* in the Schaumburg zone (Chicago Suburbs) and won with a $29 bid. The Radisson website had this hotel property for as low as $55 the day before my reservation and that was the lowest I could find it listed at. Their website mentions that this property is newly renovated...Not exactly! There was construction still taking place when I stayed there on 1/10/04. I did ask the front desk rooms manager Duane (very nice, friendly and helpful) about the renovation and he said when finished the entire hotel would be redone..and when was that to be..in at least 3 months I was told. As for the hotel in general...first off ..be careful using priceline directions. If you do not know this area well this hotel can be a bit difficult to find especially with those directions. I was fortunate enough to have another map and that helped greatly. This hotel is not located near the other major hotels and is actually in a bit more rundown area of the city. The property is an older property all around but still acceptable. We were within minutes of the Woodfield Mall and all the shopping surrounding the mall and also the IKEA store so it was still a good location for us. The young woman who checked us in had no clue and was very new. Duane was there helping her and it took some time to check in although he was very polite about it. She tried to charge my credit card even though I was prepaid :) so I was thankful he was there to straighten things out. It was mentioned that I was on priceline but I don't think it would have been had she not been so confused. We were given a non-smoking 2 double beds room on the 3rd floor which was what we wanted so no problems there. In our room we found new carpeting, newer bedding and a somewhat remodeled bathroom, all of which was clean. There was a hair dryer, coffee maker, and a 25 inch tv with an average selection of channels. The bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower cap, and cloth. There was no bathroom fan so it got a little steamy. The room itself was of average size. When we returned to the room at about 10:00pm the construction noise had stopped....BUT at 7:26am on a Sunday morning the noises started again and even from my 3rd floor room I could hear them, not pleasant. I didn't notice a smell of smoke in my room when I first checked in, but when I came in later that night it did smell some smoke. I also smelled some smoke in the bathroom. My guess is that their ventilation system is old and could use some renovations too! I didn't eat at the restaurant (didn't look busy at anytime I was there but looked nicely furnished), or use the fitness center. There is a pool and whirlpool but they are outdoor so I didn't use them either. While in line at check out I did hear the woman at the desk (not the same as at check in) say to the man in front of me you are all paid ..you were on priceline etc. so I wasn't the only one. There were several other guests standing around and if I was one of them and heard that after paying full price I may have been a litte upset. Usually I get a "thank you for staying everything is all set since your stay was prepaid etc.). Overall the staff was friendly and the hotel seemed clean. For a one night place to sleep I couldn't really complain and since I only paid $29+taxes and fees this hotel was worth it.
  25. First of all thank you for posting a Wisconsin winning bid..I was feeling a little lonely. Please review this hotel when you return I would really like to know what you thought. I won this on Priceline before I joined this board so I don't have the exact dates I stayed but I stayed with family at the end of July first of Aug. of 2003 (that weekend) for one night. When I bid the hotel I think I bid either $36 or $38 for a winning bid but at that time this hotel was listed as a 3* and I was disappointed, so I'm glad to hear they have renovated and that Priceline has moved their star level down to 2 1/2* which I think is a more realistic star level. I feel better now being able to bid 3* in this zone since I'll be almost** gauenteed the Four Points Sheraton a much nicer property for the same $ usually. If the renovation of this property is successful it will be nice to be able to rebid with the new 2 1/2 star * catagory and still get a decent hotel:) Thanks agian and Welcome!
