I believe this hotel tries to scam customers that book through a third party booking site, like Hotwire. The rooms they put Hotwire customers in (small, one bed, one room, no sofa) are not even mentioned on their website; if they are there, they're not described properly because the three I saw did not have a pull-out sofa. I should know; I was moved into several of their Hotwire rooms after each one failed to live up to 2 star hotel standards regarding cleanliness and maintenance. Then when the customer is not satisfied with the dirty room with broken a/c, they try to get the customer to upgrade to a better room for $20. Sounds to me like a scam that discriminates against Hotwire customers. The front desk staff sent maintenance to fix issues we had in our room (a/c). Eventually they moved us to another room. The same song and dance happened there (when I opened the little maintenance door on the a/c, I noticed that someone had even written on the a/c unit that it needed to be replaced). The bedspread also had some white stuff caked on it in several places (unfortunately I did not get photos of that). They sent maintenance up, called back and forth, and finally sent us to a third room where the a/c worked but the bed had serious issues. We got settled in our third room at 11 PM, three hours after we checked in, and the front desk staff knew we were unhappy with the bed but did nothing to fix the situation. We asked for extra pillows; it took them half an hour to send them up, and even then, they didn't send as many as requested. Their excuse was they had to grab pillows from other rooms. The bathroom was disgustingly dirty. Dirt was caked in the corners of the bathrooms (I took pics of this and may try to post them here if it's possible). I found a dead bug on my towel. I think the positive ratings I read at other websites may be for the larger, suite rooms at this hotel. I firmly believe from my discussion with the morning front desk agent that Chase saves these smaller rooms with one bed for Priceline and Hotwire customers -- rooms they apparently do not maintain or clean well because they don't have to. I suspected as much when I was continually offered to upgrade to a King suite for $20 during the 3 hour room switcheroo marathon. I didn't want to pay extra for a King suite; I just wanted what I'd paid for -- a clean, maintained room for 2 adults to sleep in for a few hours without picking up any crawling hitchhikers. The morning front desk clerk even admitted they don't normally offer these small rooms to the public; they save them for PL/Hotwire customers. She did say they do open the rooms to the public when the hotel is full, but they don't offer them at a reduced rate, which made me think the $20 upgrade for Hotwire customers for larger king suites was bogus and pretty much a scam. Don't buy into the sham here. I would strongly recommend not booking this hotel through a third party website. The same clerk said if I had booked directly with the hotel, she'd have refunded my money on the spot, but could not because I'd booked through Hotwire. For me, it wasn't worth the money I paid, even after a $15 or $20 rebate from the Entertainment Book. I'd rather go camping than stay at this hotel again. I contacted customer service at The Hardage Group with my complaints today. They supposedly will call me back.
