  1. 49 Euros is a very nice price for any hotel in the center of Amsterdam. Rates usually start at around 70 to 80 Euros, even for 1-star hotels.
  2. I'm sure you'll be fine staying at the Marriott. Old Compton Street is almost walking distance--at least we sometimes walked at night. If you don't want to walk or spend money on a taxi, then there are several night bus lines which will take you along Oxford Street until Marble Arch where you'll get off.
  3. No, that won't happen. I do that all the time. It just means you found out the hotel's priceline rate including French VAT: 65 EUR per night.
  4. Amsterdam South has always been cheaper than City Centre/Museum Quarter. You don't see many posts about bids because most people don't want a hotel in this zone.
  5. Thanks for reporting - this is a new hotel for our list. What Priceline zone is this hotel located in?
  6. I was curious so I just did a quick check. You are currently looking at around $115 per night plus tax in Kensington (most likely the Hilton Olympia) at the 4* level (without breakfast as mentioned before). There is nothing cheaper at the 3* level anywhere in London. Alternatively, you are looking at about $130 per night plus tax in Regents Park (most likely the Marriott Regents Park or the Marriott Maida Vale) at the 4* level.
  7. OK, but no 4* Holiday Inn in London serves breakast at GBP4-7. And Travelodge is a 2* at best.
  8. Thanks for keeping us up to date! That is great news.
  9. Oh sorry...this is for a stay in June next year, actually. Will you modify that please? Thanks!

  11. No. Priceline rates, just like most of the very special rates from the hotels' websites, never include breakfast. Very rarely do hotels provide free breakfast to all guests anyway so Priceline guests get treated to that too. However, this as an extremely decent rate for Amsterdam!
  12. This is a brandnew hotel, right in the vicinity of Berlin Sch
  13. I did actually bid but without being accepted. However, this is very far in advance, so I suppose many hotels haven't loaded rates into the Priceline system yet. I guess I'll just a wait a bit and won't buy accomodation right now. Thanks again for the information you provided!
  14. The only reported hotel in the Airport zone so far is the 4* Marriott. Cheapest rate on their website is
  15. One of the world's biggest books fairs starts on 10 Oct. Hotel availability is almost zero. I see (almost) no way you could ever get a Priceline bid accepted during a major event like this one in Frankfurt and recommend you book anything that is still within your budget asap. The cheapest double on www.hotel.de that is, in fact, available, costs
  16. Thank you for all the information, Colfax! It seems like the location is not that bad even when going to the touristy areas like Union Square. I know I could score a 2.5* on Priceline at $52 but would rather spend $55 and be almost sure to get the HI instead of the Whitcombe. It seems to me, after reading some reviews, that the HI in terms of accomodation, is superior to the Whitcombe. Maybe I'm wrong. I am still hesitant--not because this is so much far in advance but because if I knew I could get any of the 4*s, the Crowne Plaza or the Chancellor in the USE and USW zones at up to $85 on Pricleline, I would go for that.
  17. Bid through the savingsbarn link. A bid of $47 was declined. This winning bid probably equals to a Priceline rate of
  18. Great, thanks! I hope some of the locals will be able to advise. It seems that the HI Civic Center itself, as a hotel, is relatively good, just that some people find the location rather bad. And the price is really low. I've never been to San Francisco, so I wonder whether that area is really so much worse than others with regards to safety. I will be there for touristy things and I've seen the hotel is very close to a Bart Station and in more or less walking distance to the gay areas in the Castro and on Folsom street.
  19. Thanks, thereuare! Any ideas on whether this zone is really that much worse than other zones in San Francisco? I heard Civic Center was not such a good zone to stay, but this would be quite a bargain.
  20. Hi, I found this one at a very low rate. Any guess would this could be? Holiday inn Civic Center? Amenities: Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Laundry Hi-Speed 3-star hotel in Civic Center South This midscale establishment offers more than just the basics in style, comfort and customer service. Thanks!
  21. October + special event = How about Oktoberfest?!?! www.oktoberfest.de That will be very tough and/or expensive, even outside the city limits.
  22. The lowest rate for a room with double occupancy is
  23. That's a very nice price for this property--actually, I hope it'll be rated 4* on Pricleline soon (which makes more sense IMHO). But isn't that a savings of around 40%? Marriott's price is
