  1. Started at $75 and used free re-bids to work up to $89. Your Offer Price: $89.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $178.00 Taxes and Fees: $28.88 Total Charges*: $206.88 The fine print reads: This hotel charges an 9% resort fee per day which will be billed directly to your room and payable to the front desk upon check-out. The fee covers additional services and amenities such as fresh fruit in the lobby, pool towels, access to fitness center, towels at fitness center, bottled water for joggers/walkers, daily newspaper, and in room coffee. I find it interesting the resort fee is percentage based versus a fixed amount.
  2. Started bidding at $70 Added Hilo and rebid at $75 Later tried.. Started bidding at $75 Received counter offer to increase $22 - didn't accept Added Hilo and rebid at $80.00 Accepted: Kona Coast Resort 3
  3. First bid @ $15 for economy. Bid second time @ $18 for compact ~ Bid accepted! Subtotal for two days was $36, plus taxes of $10.74 = $46.74 total. Hotwire = $76.19 total Alamo = $95.09
  4. The Hyatt Lake Las Vegas is very nice. We were there last week. Everyone also receives a free $10 with $20 in slot play, which was great. Casino is small but intimate. Live music in the bar area every night. Lots of people on conference, so tended to be quiet at night. We also went to Como's restaurant for a great meal. Dinner for 2 with wine was about $180. Como's also has a $25 coupon on Restaurant.com. ps - we loved the bath amenities!
  5. Customer Favorite Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business Sheraton New Orleans Hotel 500 Canal Street New Orleans, Louisiana 70130 (504) 525-2500 1 room(s) @ $112.00 per night x 1 night(s) $112.00 Hotel Taxes and fees: $25.07 Total Price $137.07 spg.com was showing pre-paid internet rate @ $189 so saved $79.50, plus an extra $10 from the Entertainment Coupon. Not bad for a one-night pre-cruise stay out of NOLA!
  6. *** POST STAY UPDATE *** The hotel was a typical 3* hotel. Nothing fancy. The clerk did put my Wyndham number in and while I did not get the regular bennies that go along with their program or airline miles, I did get free internet. So, that was a good thing. One thing to note is this is a very busy hotel. Our flight had been delayed and I knew we were going to be late so I called around 7pm to assure them we would be there. As it turns out, we got the last room... Of note, and if you read the threads above, you will know I had filed a DD Gty with Hotwire and the net room rate worked out to be about $70 after DD Gty and Entertainment $30 coupon. The Wyndham actually provided a detailed statement at check-out which showed an advance deposit paid in April 2005 (when I booked the room thru Hotwire) which I thought was interesting... so this means the room was fully pre-paid and the rate charged/paid was $159 per night. So, not sure who ate the DD Gty difference, as clearly the hotel received $159 per night. On the plus side, the hotel shuttle was great. The hotel is only about 5 minutes from FLL. I used the phone at baggage claim to call them and they arrived in minutes. The hotel has a nice breakfast buffet for $12.50 per person, includes coff, oj, and hot/cold selections and lots of fruit, bread, bagels, muffins, made to order eggs, etc. On the con side, the self park is quite a walk (7-10 min) from the elevators and the pool did not look that attractive. Also, there is nothing around here... expect a +/- $15 cab ride to the 17th St Causeway or $20 to Los Olas (assuming you don't get ripped off, of course!). Would we stay here again? If for a brief overnight, yes... but not for any sort of extended stay.
  7. **UPDATE** Just returned from our Orlando weekend. Turns out our deal was a steal as there were two major conventions in town this weekend. Rooms were going for over $200 per night. Hotel was great. Room was great - we were put in building 12. Nice balcony and 'inside' entrance. I was very pleased to walk in and find 4 bath towels in our King room. That's one of my pet peaves... The grounds are spacious and the hotel is close to all amenities and parking was closeby. We also ate in the restaurant one night and used the 'patiserrie' in the AM. Service in both was excellent. All around opinion of this property is very high and will definately stay again if the opportunity arises. PS- there was NO Resort Fee charged.
  8. My friend got back last night and reported that he (they) were given 2 doubles. When they asked for a King, they were told that would be an "Upgrade" and would cost as additional $25 per night.
  9. The coupon is only in the US books. I live in Vancouver and buy a book from a local school. Then go online and buy one for a favourite destination (Hawaii/Vegas). Vegas book is only $20 - plus the book is shipped from Vancouver so it will be here in a couple of days. The other good thing is the 2nd Card - the back of the cards is all the same so it's perfect for going for dinner with another couple (like when my parents take us out for my bday dinner!).
  10. Wyndham Orlando International Drive 8001 International Drive Orlando, Florida 32819 407-351-2420 Your Offer Price: $44.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $132.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $25.03 Total Charges: $157.03 Wyndham's Webrate is $126 and Best Available is $149 (per night). So we saved a fair bit. Note: Wyndham website does refer to Resort Fee of $11.49 per day, so this needs to be paid however booked.
  11. Booked this for a friend who has a speaking engagement @ $135 per night :) . Downside is on-site in/out parking @ $37 per day :) (yikes!). Amenities shown were: 3.5* Boutique Restaurant Fitness Internet Business
  12. Assuming you car is 'branded' with a MasterCard or Visa symbol you'll probably be fine.
  13. I believe that's called a "Mountain View" room :)
  14. Interesting... I stayed at the Sutton Place the past Sat night and they claim to be a 'AAA' 5 Diamond property [one of only 2 in Vancouver]. A great deal @ $124.
  15. Is this a past win from 2003 or are this post and your other about the MGM Grand for November 2005?
  16. We were in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and were in a similar situation. The Saturday night arrival was 'crazy' for high rates. We ended up downtown at the El Cortez: http://www.elcortezhotelcasino.com While it's not right next to the Golden Nugget, it's a quick 5 minute walk. We were surprised at how 'alive' downtown gets on Saturday night, including live bands playing 'outdoor concert style' at each intersection along Freemont. In all, we enjoyed our stay at the El Cortez. It's not a 5 star hotel, like the Venetian (where we stayed the next 2 nights). But, for $62 for a tower room that had been reno'd recently, large, smoke free, and comfortable king bed, it was a steal. Not to mention the coupon book you get when you check in. 1 per person - so you get $10 off breakfast (or any other meal). We also had a coupon for a free bottle of wine given to us when we checked in. So, we enjoyed that (Woodridge Cab. Sav.) with our $15.95 Primne Rib in their 'fancy' restaurant. I'm glad we decided to stay downtown, and the El Cortez helped to make us think what Vegas must have been like in the (g)olden days. In all, I would rate it a 3*, but that's just my opinion.
  17. Cheap, As a frequent visitor to Vegas I would love to be able to identify the MGM Grand. Can you list the amenities that were listed? Thanks, t-r
  18. And just to add, I've had multiple success without using the special hotwire.epi/jsp link.
  19. You can book direct for $100 per night - it's their Centennial Celebration rate. The Venetian is celebrating 100 years of Las Vegas with a special $100 deal only for our most valued guests. Book by May 7th for select midweek July, August, and September dates and you'll revel in the unparalleled splendor of The Venetian for only $100 per night. Or join us on select May and June dates from $149. It's the celebration of the century in the world's most exciting city - don't miss out on the fun! http://www.venetian.com/accommodations/ema...nth=7&year=2005
  20. Just an update to confirm that I received confirmation of the Entertainment $30 credit today. So, yes, you can combine all of the discounts! And to ufjoe21 - I knew exactly what I was doing. A net price of $70 per night during a busy cruise season at a hotel that offers shuttle service to both the airport and Port Everglades, is a steal. Somehow I don't think your deal in Tampa really compares.
  21. Post-stay Update When my sister checked in she presented her SPG Gold card. She was quickly acknowledged as an Elite customer (even though I had signed her up just 3 weeks beforehand and was able to get her account 'upgraded to gold') and was given a preferred room (high floor with a view) and offered a late check-out to 4pm. She was pleased. She told me that she loved the hotel and in the end the trip was worthwhile as she sealed the deal with QVC.
  22. Yes, some may say to 'pay' $175 per night for a 3 star hotel might be crazy, BUT... and there's always a but, it worked like this: I identified the only 3* Ft. Lauderdale (Airport) hotel as the Wyndham - it came up as $175 per night. I then checked the Wyndham website and it's showing a web rate of $135 per night. So, I quickly do the math for the Double the Difference Guarantee and decide to 'go for it!' Nightly rate = $175 2 nights Hotel Total = $350 Tax/fees = 46.95 Total = 396.95 Additional Savings $20.00 (first time booking discount @ $10 per night) Total Price = $376.96 Less: $160 (double the difference guarantee 2*[175-135=40*2=$80] Less: $30 (Entertainment discount) Revised total: $186.95 Gross per night = 93.48 Net per night = $70 I believe this is what is called the Hotwire trifecta: (DD Gty/GIFTCARD06/Entertainment). note: here are the Wyndham amenities - 3* Airport Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, Tennis Nearby, Business Center Also, I checked again today and the rates are still as above. Neither Hotwire nor Wyndham have made any rate adjustments!
  23. UPDATE: Applied for and successfully received the $30 Entertainment Card rebate. So, net room rate drops to $99 per night.
  24. Does anyone know how the coupon code works with the DD Guarantee? Is it based on the original price or the price after the $10 off per night. For example, I have found the Wyndham Airport in Ft Lauderdale on Hotwire for $175. On the Wyndham website it's showing a web rate of $135. Would the DD Guarantee work like this for a 2 nite stay: Scenario 1: 175 * 2 = 350 135 * 2 = 270 DD = 160 Coupon credit $20 Net price: 350 - 160 - 20 = 170 / $85 per night OR Scenario 2: 175 * 2 = 350 (less coupon $20) = 330 135 * 2 = 270 DD = 120 Net price: 330 - 120 = 210 / $105 per night ?
  25. When we were in Vegas last month we got great tickets to Zumanity through the concierge at the Paris. We booked the same day, and paid the actual ticket price and got the best (VIP) seats in the house for the actual ticket price (i.e., no mark-up and no service-charge). So, maybe check out going through the concierge at the Hotel you're staying at?
