  1. Decided the flexibility of obtaining accommodations on arrival suits my plans best on this trip. Will not be reserving anything at this point. Thanks for the assist.
  2. Thanks for the assist. Priceline Express is not showing a map of their area either. This is worth considering, however I have found a non refundable 5* booking in HCMC, so I'll have to think about whether I want to chance it to save $15 a night.
  3. Followed up as requested. Had not entered further info on those threads because no reservation was made. Traveling Dec 2 to Dec 8, 2014. We may or may not spend all that time in HCMC, depending on what else we find nearby, but at present we plan to stay in HCMC.and certainly will be there on Dec 2 and Dec 8. Adult and 8 year child traveling together, so I think Pricelne will be safe to use on this one.
  4. Decided Hawaii was out of our price range when we totaled it all up. Maybe some other time.
  5. Planning a trip to HCMC in December, Priceline has 5* hotels in inventory, any idea what they might be? Concerned that I don't get a 4* that Priceline decides to call a 5*. Also, Priceline does not show a map for HCMC, so I can't really tell how large an area they are considering HCMC to be.
  6. This topic addresses a reason I have had for not using Priceline recently. We used to use Priceline when our only child was an infant, but now we have two children, one 7 years and one 1 year old. We travel to the Cancun area often and given our experience with establishments in Mexico being very inflexible in order to squeeze every last dime out of us, we just decided not to risk it. Now we are looking at going to Hawaii. The prices there sure make us want to use Priceline, but we won't save enough money to make it worth it if we get to our destination and the hotel tacks on who knows what to our bill. So the question is, has anyone used Priceline for accommodations in Hawaii and had one or two kids with them? Did it work out? Is there any advice we can get on using Priceline for a family of four in Hawaii?
  7. How did you see the fees for parking and Internet? I don't see them right off. (I want to learn where to look so I don't ask unneeded questions.)
  8. Amenities: Resort Beachfront hotel Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower 85% Recommended 2 Adults 2 Children I suspect 4* Lihue Kappa = Aqua Kauai Beach Resort Any possibility it could be another hotel? Also, I see no mention of resort fees or parking fees, but could there be additional charges upon arrival for this?
  9. Started bidding on 2/21/12, the day before I wanted a hotel. Started at $48 in the Millennium Park and Mag Mile areas, added rebid zones in $1 increments, got the Hyatt at $55. Stayed in the East tower, very nice view from remodeled room, was told the hotel was at about 50% occupancy.
  10. All bids were for 4 stars only: started trying for Magnificent Mile, bid up to $130, moved to Millennium area, bid up to $85, moved to ORD South, first bid was accepted at $65. In retrospect we should not have bid this properly. We will not have a car and arrive in the downtown area, not O' hare. We should have bid higher in the Millennium area first since the hassle of traveling back and forth to the Hyatt ORD means that we should have bid Millennium up to a least $95 per day before offering $ 65 for ORD South. We also failed to review previous bids here before making our bid for ORD South, one had been recently successful for $50. I hope the Hyatt makes us happy guests.
  11. The listing on Hotwire has changed since I last posted. There is now only one hotel in my price range for $60 in the Asheville West hotel area. The amenities are: Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities. I am also still wondering which hotel the 4* is in Priceline's Asheville Downtown - Biltmore estate area. I am guessing the Grand Bohemian, but only because it is the only 4* listed in Pricelines list view of hotels. Just a warning to anyone reading this tread, the Grand Bohemian has a $15 parking fee that will be charged in addition to your Priceline bid. Since I was looking at both Priceline and Hotwire I did not know I should keep the two in the same thread. Sorry.
  12. I just looked at Priceline for the Asheville Downtown - Biltmore Estate area and found there is a selection for a 4* hotel in this area. Searching the Priceline forum for a 4* in Asheville gets no results. I would like help in identifying what hotel this might be.
  13. Deciding whether to stay in Asheville on these dates, found one 3* at $59 and one at $101. Can't say if I am interested in either without further identification.
  14. Very interested in getting this hotel for 8/19 - 8/21. Hoping you could tell me if the parking was extra and if so how much at this hotel. Thanks!
  15. Can you tell me if parking was included with your stay and if extra, how much it was? Thank you!
  16. Trying to get close(est) to W. Higgins Rd. & S Cumberland Ave. which is about three miles east of O'Hare. Looking for a 3 to 4 star, 4 star is preferred, for 8/19/2010 - 8/21/2010. Renaissance Chicago O'Hare and Hyatt Regency-O'Hare looked to be what was likely to be the result of a $45 - $55 bid on Priceline for a 4* in the area. Not sure if that includes parking which can make a BIG difference. Trying to determine what the 4.5* hotel offered by Hotwire for $79 per night in ORD South area is. Amenities offered are shuttle, fitness, restaurant, business center, Internet, golf nearby. Can anyone identify this hotel and also, can anyone tell me if parking is included with the above named hotels? Other suggestions welcome.
  17. I answered my own question, it was the Westin. Booked as described. Bid for two rooms three persons, called after the reservation and asked the front desk for two beds, they said no problem, they were out of kings. Got two double beds in two attached rooms. Started my search from the HOTWIRE link on the BetterBidding page.
  18. Amenities are: Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High-speed Internet Access. Look like it might be the Hyatt from previous posts, but I also saw the Westin mentioned. Can I get a fairly sure idea of who this is? Thx. P.S. I am booking this for the wife and her two friends. Can you/ how do you make sure you get two beds on Hotwire? Can you book two rooms at the same time and be sure one has two beds?
  19. Night of June 21, one night, exercise room, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, Internet, tennis nearby. We are also considering a hotel in Detroit downtown the same date offered at $109 with bed choice, all non smoking, exercise room, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, Internet, golf and spa. This is the night of the Detroit-Windsor fireworks show. Our goal is either a hotel facing the river or a great deal off the river. We understand prices will be higher than usual, but only on the river. In the past we stayed near the Devonshire mall and took the free Windsor shuttle in to town. That was not so bad, but we thought we would try for a change.
  20. 3* hotel listed for June 21 on Hotwire for $84. Anyone know which one this is?
  21. Hotel staff was always very polite, courteous and attentive. We were offered complimentary cookies and candy for our 3 year old at check-in. Can't say enough about how nice all the staff were at the front desk and concierge. However, the hotel itself felt dated, even though they had just remodeled the tower we were in. The use of dark browns for the carpet and walls in our room made it dark and I think the staff had a hard time seeing the dirt to clean it thoroughly. Our 3 year old was easily able to find it when playing on the floor. The bathroom was very nice, but they didn't clean it well on some days. Location was about a mile from a the Miracle Mile shopping area and restaurants. The walk would be nice in the summer, in the cold wind it was not so much so. Our room seemed well soundproofed except for people in the hall when right outside the room. Parking at the time of our stay was $50 a day, Internet is $14 extra charge. Note that Internet access is NOT included in your room payment. This hotel deserves its 4* rating for the most part, but lags a little bit in appearance and is very crowded all the time, after all it is the biggest hotel in Chicago. We had a decent time and for the $79 we paid on Hotwire it was a good deal. Just be sure you constantly watch out for the extras or your good deal can get pricey quick. BTW - Street parking near the hotel is not an option now, it is over $2 an hour and the meters run 24/7. You can park at O'Hare for $9 a day and take the train in if you are staying for several days and don't need a car. Otherwise, you WILL pay! Also- you now do not get a guest pass to the Sheraton if you want to swim, but you may pay $25 for a one day pass to the Athletic club next door. They said it was very exclusive, but for three of us it would be $75 and that's too exclusive for me. :) All in all I would rate this hotel a 3.9*, so close and yet...
  22. That's about it. Good location, why did they redecorate it in all dark brown's??? The walls, the carpets, everything in our room was dark brown. Oh well.
  23. I think NMA is a good start too. We are 2 Adults, one child.
  24. Since it sounds like you know Toronto hotels a little bit, what bidding area would you recommend as the best to focus on to get the nicest hotel in Toronto? I will be traveling with my wife and 4 year old boy. I have been to Toronto several times, but not for a few years. Trying to choose between 4 days in Toronto May 5 - 9 or going to Chicago, which is a little closer to me.
