  1. Hmmm did a google search on the word "buzz" thinking there might be some new airline or something .... and came across this .... although, as you say, this has nothing to do with the word "buzz"...??? openjet.com - europe's low fare flight search & booking engine. ... Today: 22/2/2004. ... Description: KLM's low cost airline flying between London Stansted and a number of European cities; flight schedules,... 3. My vote ... forget Priceline and hotels .... let's cruise!!! Just got back from 7 nights on the Carnival Victory ... total with taxes $417 pp outside cabin. Willtravel ... I have to agree about being lured into great PL deals ... especially when bonus money comes around .... BTW ... have not seen any offers lately???
  4. Tres cool you remembered that post about the Hyatt ... this was one time where I was not worried about what I might win in the zone ... I can NOT stand another Holiday Inn!!! This will be the third time my parents get to meet her ... and the first truely relaxing time ... I imagine. In Toronto, we did too much running around as the "newly engaged" .... but I have finally settled into being a "fiance" now ... I remember being corrected by you several months ago .... while enjoying those last few days of bacherlorhood ... oh God... those were the days...!!!! :) :o :) :)
  5. This will be my 4th ... last time was 10 years ago on NCL. I went on two others about 20 years ago aboard some ancient ships called "Britainis" and the "Americanis" ... I believe the company was called "Chandris" and those ships later became part of Sunquest's line ... "Sundream" and .... some other ... they are marketed mainly to Canadians... I can tell ya, I am anxious for all the food and more food and more food .... :) !!!
  6. Bid through savingsbarn ... added a second room (without the bonus) for my fiance and myself... I did try bidding lower this time for the fun of it ... and clicked through the used bonus link which did not de-activate right away .... should have bid $25 right away as it showed the $10 bonus during the first bid ... however my $20+$10 failed ... as well as normal bids of $30, $33 and than hit with $35. Your Offer Price: $35.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $105.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $21.22 Total Charges: $126.22
  7. I had a $10/5 night bonus offer from a complaint to customer service ... and got this after getting rejected everywhere in Ft Lauderdale for these nights... I didn't bid too high knowing I could get this pretty easily. As much as I don't like Radisson's .. this one (from the reviews) is superb with floor to ceiling windows in the rooms and the common areas are very hip and boutique-like ... as it was formerly a Renaissance. Your Offer Price: $25.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $100.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.49 Total Charges: $120.49
  8. I went back and forth between Miami and Ft Lauderdale trying for the best deal .. but, it was hard to get a Saturday one-night check-in ... this was my highest bid for 4* and included all 4* zones ... previously rejected for $50 ... Tried up to $50 3* downtown, $40 3* all other zones, and $28 2* all zones... Happy with this ... and actually wanted it in the first place. Your Offer Price: $55.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $110.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.16 Total Charges: $130.16
  9. Heading to Miami for a cruise with my parents and my 'fiance' is flying in from PHX to join us... Carnival Victory ... 7 nights/$418 total booked through one of the discounters found on travelzoo Used the Priceline $10 airfare bonus offer which ends today. This was my first bid ... and I was pretty much able to guess the flight I would win based on the lowest fares posted ... cheapest elsewhere was $192 on Orbitz. I should have tried $15 - $20 less and than used Miami as a rebid as with the bonus money, I was bidding a total of almost $190 anyway... Your Offer Price: $135.00 (per ticket) Applicable Taxes: $37.40 (per ticket) Ticket Cost: $172.40 (per ticket) Processing Fee: $6.95 (per ticket) Subtotal: $179.35 (per ticket) Number of Tickets: 3 Total Charges: $538.05 Departing Flight Information - Saturday, February 7, 2004 (operated by Comair, Inc. ) Flight 5084 2h 15m, 714 mi Greater Buffalo Intl (BUF) Buffalo, NY Departs: 5:30 PM To Atlanta- Hartsfield Intl (ATL) Atlanta, GA Arrives: 7:45 PM Aircraft Canadair Regional Jet 700 (Jet) Economy/Coach Flight 707 1h 48m, 582 mi Atlanta- Hartsfield Intl (ATL) Atlanta, GA Departs: 8:35 PM To Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood Intl (FLL) Fort Lauderdale, FL Arrives: 10:23 PM Aircraft Boeing 767-400 (Jet) Economy/Coach Returning Flight Information - Thursday, February 19, 2004 Flight 1531 1h 49m, 582 mi Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood Intl (FLL) Fort Lauderdale, FL Departs: 6:50 AM To Atlanta- Hartsfield Intl (ATL) Atlanta, GA Arrives: 8:39 AM Aircraft Boeing 767-400 (Jet) Economy/Coach (operated by Comair, Inc. ) Flight 5081 2 h, 714 mi Atlanta- Hartsfield Intl (ATL) Atlanta, GA Departs: 11:25 AM To Greater Buffalo Intl (BUF) Buffalo, NY Arrives: 1:25 PM Aircraft Canadair Regional Jet (Jet) Economy/Coach
  10. Booked this for a friend... for Quebec City's big winter festival Checked rates on Expedia, Lowestfare ... very high and than tried Priceline up to $95 4*, $90 3*, $50 2*... in all the zones individually (there's three) hoping for even the Comfort Inn. Instead of bidding higher for a 2* ... went with this from Hotwire... it was the only hotel they had listed. http://www.gouverneursaintefoy.com/ 3030 Boulevard Laurier Sainte-Foy, QC G1V 2M5 Canada (418) 651-3030 No. of Rooms: 2 No. of Nights: 1 Price Per Night: $63.00 Subtotal: $126.00 Taxes / Booking Fees: $23.95 Total Price: $149.95 amenities listed were ... restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center and children's activities...
  11. ahhh the good old days ... I spent many around Old Orchard and especially Freeport at the factory outlets (about 30 mins from Portland). Than, the four hour drive back through New Hampshire except when the moose were out ... which added another 4 hours to the slow drive. Many a fraternity ritual were held in them hills.... :) I spent 6 years in school in Sherbrooke, Quebec which is right near the VT/ME/NH borders....!!! Before the priceline days ... I'd call up many hotels and try to strike up deals ... always worked.
  12. Trying to book my parents some cruises ... Travelocity has a great super-sale with rebates... yesterday, I was getting a round trip ... 11 nights from San Diego for $600. I dilly dallied and it is sold out. Now, I am trying for the trans-Atlantic 14 nights ... which is only $600 but the damn airfare is $1300 ... twice the cruise. This requires a couple one ways...
  13. Great deal ... however, I just saw the picture of their 10
  14. This zone used to be called "North York" and now has Vaughan added to it. Randi ... it's a must to stay somewhere else in Toronto beside the airport. This Radisson though is at the exact midpoint of the city (GTA - greater Toronto area) however, it is surrounded by office buildings. To mix things up a little, the Markham zone which includes hotels that are actually outside of Markham in Richmond Hill (2.5* Courtyard $23) are surrounded by what has become Toronto's new Chinatown ... huge, newly built markets, restaurants ... and massive homes ... it is very worth staying here to see a different look of the city. Two musts for when you visit Toronto are .... Tim Horton's ... our famous coffee/donut shop which is on every corner .... I read a study that Canadians have a one donut shop for ever 11,000 people ... while, in the US, it is one per 25,000. England was second with about 1 per 16,000. The second, is watch a movie at a Colossus ... we are far more advanced than Americans when it comes to theatres... http://www.famousplayers.com/theatres/index.asp
  15. Bid through savingsbarn for a friend... Tried $22, $23 for a 2.5* ... than 3* $25, $26, $27... and hit at $28 This is a great Radisson ... much better than Radisson's in the US...!!! - free parking - probably the most central hotel in Toronto located at the corner of highways 401 and DVP/404 http://www.radisson.com/RAD/Hotel_Director...elCode=ONTOREAS Check-In Date: Friday, January 30, 2004 Check-Out Date: Sunday, February 1, 2004 Zone: Vaughan - North York 55 Hallcrown Place Toronto, Ontario M2J 4R1 416-493-7000 Your Offer Price: $28.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $56.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $11.54 (US dollars) Total Charges: $67.54 (US dollars)
  16. Here is a response from Hotwire disputing the findings... http://www.consumerwebwatch.org/project/letters.htm
  17. Hey Bill, just found it .... http://www.consumerreports.org/main/detail...D=1074405576021 Well, many of us here can dispute their findings ... for hotel pricing anyways. In their study, how much did they bid for hotels? How much did they overbid?
  18. Another (very recent) complaint ... on the second morning of a three day stay in East Dallas at a Holiday Inn ... the phone rang a few times while I was in the shower ... than a very loud knock at the door ... I went/ran out and answered it dripping wet and a very large security guard told me that I was well past check out and I had to leave the hotel or give them my credit card to be billed ... I told him that I was without a doubt booked for an additional day and would bring a copy down of my invoice after being good and ready. I got a phone call a few minutes later explaining Priceline had made the mistake and sent them the wrong check out date hmmmm looking back, a nice "complimentary" :) fruit basket would have been nice.
  19. Hmmmm it would be fun to start a forum topic called ... "your biggest hotel complaints" ... I remember checking out of the Holiday Inn Select in Montreal and being shocked at the phone charges .... after explaining to her that it clearly stated in the room that they were free ... she argued with me about it .... I marched back upstairs, grabbed the placecard from next to the phone which clearly stated "1-800 calls free" and asked her how stupid she thought I was ... also, the hotel tried to charge me additional taxes (GST) beyond the $2/night hotel tax. On a more positive note ... the hotel itself is magnificent .... it is Asian themed and the entire lobby is made of fountains and walkways .... rooms are very well kept. I believe their webiste actually lists itself as a 4-star.
  20. Most of the YYZ hotels charge for parking ... one safe bet would be to check with the Day's Hotel ... as they offer free parking ... I won it in a past 2* bid for $21 ... all the info is in the post http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?act...T&f=166&t=2741& All the 3* hotels charge $8-$12/day and even the 2.5* Comfort Suites charges. They just opened a new Courtyard and Hampton Inn on the airport strip ... I am pretty sure the courtyard offers free parking. In the Missisauga zone, the 3* Radisson and 2.5* Courtyard do allow you to park for free although, they are 15-20 mins from the airport.
  21. Bid through savingsbarn for a friend's b-day... Got this on my first bid ... was hoping for a different hotel even though this one comes up the most frequently ... the rooms have not been updated like newer Courtyards ... parking is around $20 .... but they do have free high-speed... Your Offer Price: $33.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $33.00 (US dollars) Taxes and Service Fees: $9.14 (US dollars) Total Charges: $42.14 (US dollars)
  22. No, the Ottawa one has never come up ... although, the Arc has (4* downtown) ... my friends got that one last summer for $40 ... two rooms, Canada Day long weekend!!!
  23. My friend got this on a last minute bid ... he tried 4* first $65 and $75 hoping for "The Arc" and than on his first 3* bid, got this... http://www.lordelginhotel.ca/
